Wells Fargo sold out about 70 to 80 percent of the lower bowl, so about 9,000-10,000 people were there. Angelina Fong was the RA.   MVP def. Matt Hardy for a shot at the WWE US Title later in the night. MVP was over with the crowd, Hardy got a mixed reaction, Matt wasn't wearing his cast, but had a hand brace on, to heal it more, I guess. Bad match, Hardy couldn't keep up, like as if he was half-asleep. Funny spot in the beginning of the match in which Hardy did jumping jacks, the MVP was lying on the ropes like Eddie Guerrero, ...

The Case Of the Missing Pop

Posted by Kevin Williams On June - 19 - 2009
In pro wrestling, the pop, not to be confused with a bottle of soda, is the reaction that the superstars get from the crowd through their entrances, interviews, and other actions. As the years progress, it seems as if superstars get less and less reaction from the audience. WWE programming usually garners upwards of 10,000 and even 15,000 audience members, and yet many times, it sounds as if there are only a couple hundred people in attendance. It seems as if the only superstars who receive more than an average amount of heat from the crowd are Triple H, Undertaker, John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, and ...

Mark Henry Talking Wrestling Smack: Classic Q&A Part 2

Posted by Mike Dojc On June - 19 - 2009
If you missed Part 1 here it is. Now here's the second half of my conversation with wrestling superstar Mark Henry: You've lifted a Humvee in competition, what other exotic feats of strength have you accomplished? I lifted Apollon's Wheels[a 366 pound barbell with a non-rotating, two-inch thick bar] four times. Appollons Wheels had only been lifted three times in history, and I hoisted it four times in one session. I also lifted the Thomas Inch "un-liftable" dumbell, which was created in the late 1800's. Inch supposedly lifted it, but they don't have any evidence or documentation other than his own words. Up ...

The Best Damn Rumor Mill, Period! Returns (Humor)

Posted by Caribbean Playboy On June - 18 - 2009
It's a given that people within the world of professional wrestling are unable to keep their mouth shut. There are more leaks in the wrestling industry than of an old, battered hose. This is where I come in―to deliver the news. With the increasing popularity of Hit The Ropes I have been privileged enough to get to know people in the know. So, with the help of my sources in the business, here's the dirt. WWE With the recent injuries to Batista and Mr. Kennedy, it is reported that both men will be starring on an upcoming episode of the Fox drama, House. Chris Jericho ...

Emanuel Yarbrough: The Sumo of All Fears, a Classic Interview

Posted by Mike Dojc On June - 17 - 2009
Hog-tie Mike Tyson and clone him twice and you still won't have the heft and tsunami power of New Jersey sumo legend Emanuel Yarbrough, whose 6'7" frame supports 770 pounds of pure juggernaut. Yarbrough is sick of questions about how long he can go without a Twinkie, so I asked Manny about meatier things.   Many North Americans See Sumo Wrestling as a Battle of the Bulge—Two Big Guys Bumping Bellies To See Who's Packing the Bigger Stomach. Other Than Heft, What Else Do You Need To Be a Sumo Wrestler? The underlying factor in what makes a good sumo wrestler is fighting ...
While Randy Orton might be the flavor of the moment here on Bleacher Report, none of the hype that myself and fellow Ortonites have generated could ever make up for the fact that despite his greatest efforts, Randy Orton remains one of the most underrated Superstars I've ever seen. If you're wondering how on earth that could be, it can and it is. What Randy Orton did last Monday Night was nothing short of legendary although most people would fail to recognize the magnitude of this accomplishment. As a heel, he defeated three future Hall of Famers in clean fashion to become WWE Champion ...

Note to Readers: Welcome back to the TNA vs. WWE Brand Battle brought to you by Bleacher Report’s own Demetrus Stokes and Adam Testa. Demetrus represents WWE, while Adam represents TNA. Remember, you are voting for the better argument, not which company you believe is actually superior in this area. In the first round of competition, Demetrus crushed Adam by a vote total of 21-9. Being the ...

Why TNA is Not WCW or WWE

Posted by Dan Telek On June - 16 - 2009
I have been reading a lot of articles recently, maybe too many, how TNA is just going to die like WCW. They also say how TNA is just a copy of WCW and I am here to tell why TNA is not just another WCW remake. The main reason why people compare TNA to WCW is because of the talent involved. I can only think of seven stars on the active roster who are from WCW: Booker T Daffney Jeff Jarrett Kevin Nash Scott Steiner Shane Douglas Sting Is that really that many? Only two are featured in the main event picture and that is Jeff Jarrett and Sting. Everyone ...

Hall of Justice No. 5: The Radio Personalities Duke It Out

Moderator: "Welcome one and all to another installment of The Wrestling Council. In today's installment we have four hard-hitting topics that will cause our panel to reach back into the deep recesses of its mind and deliver a well-thought out response. Today, we are joined by three men who are in the on-line wrestling radio game. With us are: "Mr. Wikipedia" Daris Brown, "Mr. Angelina Love" Demetrus Stokes, and "Mr. 411" Joe Burgett. Now that pleasantries are over, let us begin, shall we?"   1) Which has a better chance of happening first: Shelton Benjamin becoming a world champion or "Macho Man" Randy ...
