Heavyweight Belt Should Have Been Relinquished at NOC

Posted by lee raydean On July - 30 - 2009
What in the hell is wrong with the WWE and their refs? I mean, come on now, the ref couldn't make up his mind if John Cena or Triple H made Randy Orton tap out at the NOC. The game had him in the Boston Crab and it looked as if he was going to tap out. Along comes John Cena and puts the STF on him, tapping out a few seconds later. The ref sees that Orton tapped out but is in a state of confusion. Which one of the two made Orton tap out? Cena or Triple H? It doesn't stop ...

The WWE and Their Misuse of the Swerve

Posted by Kevin Williams On July - 30 - 2009
Lately, before every WWE pay-per-view, the creative team must contemplate the age old question: To swerve, or not to swerve? Earlier in the year, I wrote an article asking where the element of surprise in pro wrestling had gone. Since then, the WWE has given the fans a variety of "surprises." What the WWE needs to learn, though, is that there are two kinds of surprises: Good surprises and bad ones. The purpose of the swerve is to shock the audience, but lately this technique has been overused and misused. Champions have been made to look weak, no one is able to hold a championship for ...
Brian Kendrick, Spanky, Leonardo Spanky, or The Brian Kendrick, call him what you want, as long as you don't call him to pick up a paycheck. In a silly, yet expected, move, the WWE released the former Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy graduate. Kendrick, a two-time tag champion in the WWE, was too talented of an athlete for what the WWE has had him doing as of late. I placed a call as soon as I heard the news and had the opportunity to speak with Kendrick. Me: "What's up BK (we go way back, FYI)?" TBK: "Yo, what's going on, Shane-o?" Me: "Well, I guess ...

Choosing Money Over Quality Is the Problem with WWE

Posted by Justin Morgan On July - 30 - 2009
Let me first start off by saying that I am no longer a HUGE fan of the WWE, or any other promotion for that matter. In recent years, it has become more boring each week. If I do feel like watching Raw or Smackdown (I never became interested in ECW), I watch the three key points in the show, the first segment, the end of the first hour, the beginning of the second hour, and the last 10-20 minutes of the show. These three segments occasionally provide the most entertainment for me. The first segment is usually a verbal and or physical altercation between ...
I knew as soon as I heard the topic of this Creature versus Creature who I wanted to get my hands on, and I was lucky enough to do so. Chyna—the ninth wonder of the world. Okay, perhaps that title is a little cheesy, but the magnitude of its implications is not too distant from the truth from a female wrestling standpoint. Chyna was something never witnessed before, something unique. There may have been powerful women in the wrestling spotlight before her, but the scale of the audience that Chyna was being exposed to during her time in the WWF was unprecedented for ...

CvC: Trish Stratus Is the Greatest Women’s Champion

Posted by Justin Thomas On July - 30 - 2009
"Trish Stratus. She was a seven-time champ who had a tireless work ethic, an unquenchable thirst to improve, an under-appreciated toughness, and, of course, an amazing presence." - Jim Ross In professional wrestling, there are female wrestlers who stand out. Some because of their looks and others because of their talent to wrestle. Some female wrestlers stand out because of both. In all my years as a wrestling fan, one female stands above the rest. Whenever I hear "Women's Champion," "Female Wrestler," or "Diva," one name will always come to mind—Trish Stratus. Trish first broke into the WWE as the valet for T&A, otherwise ...

Watching TNA Gives an All-Too-Familar Feeling

Posted by Wrestling Uncovered On July - 30 - 2009
Allow me to say that I hate, absolutely hate, when TNA is compared to WCW. It annoys me greatly. I was an avid fan of WCW, and I am now an avid fan of TNA, so when people do so it bothers me. Yet I am about to be guilty of that same crime, and I ask those of you that are fans of WCW, TNA, and wrestling as a whole, to please read this before you judge me. I do so because unlike most that were tuning in to the WWE, I was watching WCW until the last episode (I'd been watching ...

How Did Vince & Co. Screw Up the InVasion?

Posted by Bobby Lewis On July - 30 - 2009
Vince McMahon is a very rich man and will probably remain that way until the day that he dies. His "WWE Machine" continues to make a boatload of money, yet he lost out on a huge amount starting in the summer of 2001. WWF Monday Night Raw debuted as a one hour show on the USA Network on January 11, 1993. This was huge at the time as it was shot to a live audience. Then, on September 4, 1995, WCW started Monday Nitro and the Monday Night Wars began. From that fall until March 26, 2001, the WWF and WCW engaged in ...

CvC: Made In USA, The Greatest Women’s Champion Is Debra Miceli

Posted by Albert Dankwa On July - 30 - 2009
So many great women have graced the world of professional wrestling. These women were journeymen in the ring as well as warriors. They were as tough as nails and tough as the men themselves. They let their dominance be heard with vicious shrieks that instantly caused intimidation, and the presence never went unnoticed with their stunning radiance. Some of these women were stars, few were superstars, and only one was the best. How can one pinpoint the best there is with so many promotions spanning across the world? Women were as tough as they come in France's Queens of Chaos, simply excellent in ...
If you believe they put a man on the moon... Women's wrestling is a funny thing; some people will say women's wrestling is something you see on the second disc of a two disc set of "Girls Gone Wild" DVDs. Others will immediately say the Lelani Kai-Wendi Richter feud of the mid-80's was the absolute peak of the women's division—Richter and manager Cyndi Lauper fighting against Lelani and her manager, Fabulous Moolah: a legend in her own right. The point is that the women's sport didn't really have the same history, much less the same kind of advantageous starting point, that the ...
