WWE Night of Champions: An Outsiders View

Posted by David Wyatt On July - 27 - 2009
Let me just preface this article by saying that I have not watched a wrestling event in it's entirety since the days of the Ministry and the Corporation, since the Rock and HHH were head to head, the Undertaker was pretty scary, and there were more characters than a Shakespearean play. However, last night with the option of watching either the "Night Of Champions" or the Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox game, I thought that I would give wrestling a little view, to compare it to what it was like when I used to watch it. I had ...

WWE Night of Champions: Good Twist of Fate of Bad Punk?

Posted by Joe Burgett On July - 27 - 2009
In a surprising "twist of fate," we saw CM Punk drop his World Heavyweight Championship to "The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy last night at the Night of Champions PPV. I was personally thrown off by this, and while I should have seen it coming I didn't think the WWE would actually do it. See, the WWE does not want Jeff Hardy to leave. They have offered him many deals that were well worth signing, Hardy even said that they were good enough. However, he has yet to sign a long term deal with the WWE. It is true that he just signed ...

The Shoot: Professional Wrestling’s Weekly Recap

Posted by Geoffrey Rowland On July - 27 - 2009
Hardy back on top!; Diesel heads to RAW; Lashley makes the save! Well after taking a week off last week to go on vacation with my wife and daughter, The Shoot returns this week following a decent Night of Champions PPV from WWE. TNA, in the mean time, continues to muddle everything and leave most of us scratching our heads regularly. WWE Well I guess WWE is making their move to keep their top babyface under contract. Jeff Hardy's win last night definitely qualifies as surprising, considering all of us know that his contract is on its last legs. But this definitely raises eyebrows. Maybe ...

Night of Champions Super-Penultimate Review

Posted by Ray Bogusz On July - 27 - 2009
I never know what to expect when I do one of these reviews/recaps. Personally, I never thought any recaps I've ever written about anything were all that great. Then again, the last time I sat down and penned one of these bad boys, it was in the form of a report card for WrestleMania XXV and it caused such an uproar that the B/R wrestling community saw an uprising that resulted in two new CL's, lots of drama, and a whole lot of comments for moi. Well...when you're this good... Anyway, last night was Night of Champions and if you paid full ...

ROH Ignites Monday Night Wars…Kinda

Posted by Daris Brown On July - 27 - 2009
Ring of Honor is sent out a press release stating August 17th they will be moving to Monday nights. This is great news for all 32 people who have HDNet. Seriously though, this is great news for ROH. The days that families gather around the TV on Saturday nights are far behind us. So even though they were in prime time, nobody was home to watch it. Moving to Monday nights is about as good as it gets for Ring of Honor right now. Now don't be foolish enough to think that the Monday night wars are back. This is far from the ...

The Meaning Behind Randy Orton’s Theme Music

Posted by Daris Brown On July - 27 - 2009
I was recently privy to some insight on Randy Orton's theme music, Voices by Rev Theory, and how it came about. For those who think the song wasn't written specifically for Randy, think again as this isn't the first theme song Rev Theory has done (they also did one for Ashley Massaro). In order to get to know the WWE champ better, lead singer Rich Luzzi traveled with Randy Orton for a week to get inside his head, for a lack of a better term, and here's how he came to write the popular theme song. After a week with Randy, Luzzi said ...

Attention TNA: WWE Just Served Your Asses in One Night!

Posted by Ron Johnson On July - 27 - 2009
Tonight, the WWE took its turn at the plate for pay per views. After last weekend's atrocious Victory Road, it was up to the WWE to give the Wrestling World what they deserved: A half-decent pay per view. They didn't fail to disappoint one bit. At WWE Night of Champions, we saw the crowning of several new champions, including Jeff Hardy becoming the World Heavyweight Champion for the second time. That's right kids! Despite the entire Bleacher Report voting against Hardy winning the gold, the Cameron, North Carolina native survived the onslaught from CM Punk and became the Champion once again. Even better, ...

A New Disease is Born: The World Heavyweight Championship

Posted by The Rookie On July - 27 - 2009
In 2002, the World Heavyweight Championship was introduced to the WWE and Triple H was the first holder of the title, and now we've seen a World title change dang near every PPV... The World Heavyweight Championship is like a disease, it's being passed around to everyone and it's a shame... So now I'll show you what has happened to the World title each time after a new World Champion is introduced...
Jericho's Partner Swagger, Miz, Rhodes, DiBiase, and Lance Storm (I'm still dying over that one) equals fail. If you picked those guys, it's all right we all fail every now and then, but for those who picked Chris Masters and or Christian earned you an epic fail. Masters was easily not the top priority as everyone were babbling about him a la Christian returning at the 2009 Royal Rumble and being Jeff Hardy's attacker. Every peep's heart shattered when the tag match was billed first on the card. The peeps around me started to get desperate and grasp ...
Well, another PPV just ended, and I can happily say that I was very impressed this time around. WWE did a lot of things right with very few slip-ups. I'll go through a quick recap of the matches, and then what I personally thought of the result, as well as where WWE can go from here. The team/superstar listed first is defending.   Match One: Unified Tag Team Match between Chris Jericho/Big Show and Priceless WWE certainly surprised a lot of people with this move. Many people were saying Chris Masters or Kane, but I read hardly any Big Show predictions. I was skeptical ...
