How the Internet Killed and Then Tried to Save Professional Wrestling
On July - 22 - 2009
There was once a magical time where cars transformed into robots, "Real American Heroes" used laser guns and a hulking man urged us to say our prayers and take our vitamins.
Yep, that magical time was the 1980's, and if you're like me (a mid-20 something or in your early 30's) you remember this time fondly.
It was in this time frame I began a love affair with Professional Wrestling. The plot-hole infested story lines and larger than life characters was all that was need to hook me in.
At this moment in my life wrestling was "REAL," and I sat in front ...
Night of Champions: Why Ziggler Vs. Mysterio Might Steal the Show
On July - 22 - 2009
Every so often, there is match that catches my interest and excites the pro wrestling fan in me.
The last match to accomplish this feat was Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels during WrestleMania XXV.
After sitting down (well, not too long since I jumped up throughout the match) and watching the epic match at Wrestlemania 25, I was in amazement.
I was waiting for WWE to excite the fan in me again, but nothing has lived up to that match.
But, at this Sunday’s Night of Champions, there will be a intriguing match.
At first, I was not excited about the Dolph Ziggler vs. Rey Mysterio matchup, but after watching ...
RNN HATH RETURNED! Enter Season Two
On July - 22 - 2009
I have just received some late-breaking news this evening that Christian will be traded to Smackdown per the persistent requests of one Michael “P.S.” Hayes.
Hayes has been bugging Vince for several months now to put Christian on Smackdown, as Hayes is reportedly “high” on Christian.
Upon arriving on Smackdown, Christian will interfere in a World Heavyweight title match and will then proceed to challenge….
We interrupt this regularly scheduled breaking news extravaganza designed to make Christian marks piss their pants in glee over a reality that will never come to pass to bring you some much more important news.
Here now at ...
Superstars the WWE Screwed Up on Part Three: Going Old School
On July - 22 - 2009
Well, I have referenced a small number of the superstars WWE screwed up on, of the few I've highlighted, a good many have been from the modern era.
But this is not the only era in which WWE screwed over potential stars. They have done it in the past as well.
I now present the old school edition of the Superstars the WWE screwed up on.
1) Marty Jannetty
This is a man who is best remembered for being Shawn Michael’s partner in the great tag team known as the Rockers and...and...
Well in the WWE, really nothing. He did secure the IC title ...
The Wrestling Police Return for More Violators
On July - 22 - 2009
This is strictly for entertainment purposes, folks. It's all a joke (if you find anything remotely funny that is).
We all know wrestling is staged, but let's just say that things are real for a second.
From this past week in wrestling, the Wrestling Police was able to assess the situation and issue some serious charges.
Before I begin, have you heard this one?
A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through a traffic light. A $40 speeding ticket was included.
Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $40.
The police responded with another mailed photo--of handcuffs.
The Lost Art Forms of the WWE
On July - 22 - 2009
The WWE has evolved in almost every aspect. It has gone from a small business to a global behemoth. It has had wrestlers move on and become movie stars and has even had movie stars become wrestlers.
From a small stadium in New York to thousands yearly in and out of the United States no one could have predicted the near rocket propelled growth that his company has achieved.
Evolution is the key to success of WWE but many of us often over the look the evolution in the ring itself. We tend to lose site of how wrestling used to be ...
What Is Your Favourite WWE DVD (Round 2)?
On July - 22 - 2009
I'd like to thanks everyone that took part in round one of this competition. Without you, I wouldn't be writing round two now.
Surprisingly, there wasn't even one DVD in round 1 that got 100% of the votes! There was however a draw in the first round. The votes between "The Greatest Stars Of The 80's" and Rey Mysterio: The Biggest Little Man" were split right down the middle, so I've put them both in the second round.
Perhaps the biggest surprise to come out of round 1 is the exclusion of the Bret Hart DVD. It just got pipped at the ...
The Nickel: Golden Encounter, Yoshi vs Regal, Christian/Dreamer and Abe
On July - 21 - 2009
Regal vs Yoshi
William Regal really put on a show tonight executing a handful of exciting moves from a modified exploder suplex to a double under hook butterfly suplex, which looked pretty tricky to pull of as Regal really had to use strength and shift his legs while holding the young Yoshi.
Looks like the higher ups didn't want Tatsu to attempt the springboard spinning wheel kick that he botched last week. Regal told Tastu before the match he doesn't like foreign people and that got him heat that would stay with him through out the match.
Yoshi took massive punishment from ...
Abraham Washington Ruins ECW… Again
On July - 21 - 2009
To be fair, he didn't actually ruin ECW tonight. The whole show kind of sucked. He definitely helped add to it though, and left me with a feeling of nausea after his main event talk show.
How many times is he going to use an unoriginal fat joke on Tommy Dreamer? Tommy eats a ton, Tommy's butt is big, etc. We get it, Tommy is fat. We don't need you pointing that out, we can watch him in the ring to see that he's not the most athletic superstar.
I predicted, before the show started, that Tommy and Christian would fight during the show. ...
WWE Raw House Show Live From Macon, Ga.: A Recap and Review
On July - 21 - 2009
Hello B/R. I am back from my short vacation and now it's time for me to get back to business. I attended the house show in Macon on July 17 and had a really good time. So without further ado, here's how it went down.
Match 1: Evan Bourne vs. THE Brian Kendrick
The first match of the night was scheduled for one fall and it pitted two young superstars that I've never seen fight each other in a match. I'm talking about Evan Bourne vs. THE Brian Kendrick.
The match started off with Kendrick getting massive heat from the crowd. There was ...
