Night Of Champions: Thoughts, Previews and Predictions

Posted by Matthew Hester On July - 21 - 2009
Hello everyone. As always, I would like to thank all of you for spending a few moments with me today. With Night of Champions a few days away, I figured it was about time I posted my thoughts and predictions. It is advertised that every title is defended on this upcoming PPV. When I looked at the WWE site, it didn’t show a women’s title match. I personally feel the titles should be defended every PPV. Since this will never happen, I am opting not to sweat it. The card overall seems a little dull to me, though. For starters, we have another ...

Being David… The Von Erich Legacy and Tragedy

Posted by Alberto Cortez On July - 21 - 2009
This legendary family of wrestling is notable not because of any brother rivalry, but because of the tragedies these five brothers endured under the pressure of being great. Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris Von Erich, second generation stars and sons of Fritz Von Erich, all endured their share of heartache. Kevin, the oldest, is the last remaining member of the Von Erich family and had to endure loss after loss. He was the first to make his debut in World Class Championship Wrestling in 1976 as “The Golden Haired Warrior”—he wrestled barefoot and was a crowd favorite. Soon after he was ...

Joe’s 411: B/R Pro-Wrestling News (July 21, 2009)

Posted by Joe Burgett On July - 21 - 2009
Welcome to Joe's 411: B/R Pro-Wrestling News. Today, there is a lot of big news regarding injuries and returns. And there is still more! This is your 411 B/R!   Evan Bourne Update Apparently Evan Bourne injured himself, but most people feel he is in trouble with management. He has not been suspended nor has he done anything wrong. Triple H is high on him, so that would keep him in the RAW limelight if he was able to be there. Bourne was pulled from the six pack US Title match at Night of Champions, and he was still supposed to face the ...
Hair, Spray, & Bodega Well I damned... Alicia Fox actually won on RAW tagging with Rosa "Bodega theme music" Mendes against Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim. Fox really takes some bumps as she was tossed around the ring a couple of times during the match. I thought it was done before it started when I saw Hair and Mendes taking on the popular Kelly, the second power, and Gail Kim. It was odd that the only diva match on RAW didn't include any of their top divas in Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, and Divas champion Maryse. Speaking of Maryse she sprayed some ...

TNA: Total Nonstop Agony (Part II)

Posted by Fred Richani On July - 21 - 2009
Competition is good in any environment, including the professional wrestling/sports entertainment industry. At my undisclosed retail location, I remember feeling somber when our main competitor Circuit City closed down.   Yes, it was a horribly run company the last few years, but knowing that there would be people without jobs, particularly ones that need to supported themselves and their families based on a Circuit City salary made my heart sink.   Yet it was due to Circuit City's negligence of the real problems that plagued their company (unqualified workers, no emphasis on customer interaction, etc.) that ultimately led to their demise.   TNA Wrestling is not ...

WWE’s Monday Night Raw Rocks Out with Guest Host ZZ Top

Posted by Danny Starry On July - 20 - 2009
I personally found this week's Raw to be rather disappointing. Maybe it was ZZ Top hosting it, maybe it was the fact that half of the matches were just repeats of last week's. Who knows? Something about this week's Raw just didn't feel right. John Cena started Raw off, announcing that the main event would be Priceless vs. Cena and Triple H and began to say how excited he was for it. Randy Orton interrupted him, however, and after a brief standoff between Legacy and Cena and Triple H, Orton set up the main event so that he was also involved ...

World Wrestling Newswire for 7/20: Tajiri Comes to New Japan!

Posted by Jason Le Blanc On July - 20 - 2009
Ladies and gentlemen, I come to you this week a man drowning in a sea of melancholy.  This weekend, I was forced to deal, once again, with a tragedy as death came calling once more for a real American hero.  The man I am referring to was nothing short of a legend, a man whose wisdom had no end.  Many of us referred to this man as “the most trusted man in America” and for good reason.  He was there for us during all of the wars and for just about every major crisis.  When evil attacked, you could bet your bottom ...
RAW goes live at NC State University with the crowd abuzz of the awaiting of tonight’s guest host. Instead, the show opens up with the arrival of the other co-#1 Contender for the WWE Championship at this Sunday’s Night of Champions, John Cena. Cena takes a moment to soak in the admiration from the Wolfpack crowd before focusing on tonight’s guest hosts and this Sunday’s Night of Champions. He then focuses his attention on the main event of this Sunday’s Night of Champions, but he is quickly interrupted by the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. The Legend Killer stalks to the ring to ...

Yawn..TNA Had a Pay-Per-View Last Night…and No One Watched It

Posted by Ron Johnson On July - 20 - 2009
So apparently there was a pay per view from TNA last night. It was called Victory Road, and like always, TNA beat WWE... ...in the most long-winded show ever. The only thing I saw was the most atrocious show since...according to most of the wrestling fans, every single RAW for the past few months. TNA had a chance to win the fans' respect last night (which they didn't), had a chance to get the advantage over WWE with those guys heading into Night of Champions (which they failed to get) and they had a chance to do something different (which didn't happen). In other ...

Breaking the Walls Down: Who Is Jericho’s Partner?

Posted by Jonathan Sheridan On July - 20 - 2009
To all of you who are reading this, greetings. I am "your host" Jonathan Sheridan. As we wrestling fans know, Smackdown! superstar, Edge, has been sidelined with a torn achilles tendon and is out for a few months. Before his injury, Edge was one half of the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions with Chris Jericho. On last week's Raw, Jericho announced that he would have a new partner and will successfully reign as champion and dominate the WWE Universe. Now, let’s take a look at the possibilities.   The Miz For those who have been keeping up on daily wrestling news—Joe Burgett’s 411, any wrestling news ...
