Jeremy Piven’s RAW Performance: Wrestling Fans Need to See the Light!
On August - 6 - 2009
For the past few days, I have seen a few articles criticizing Jeremy Piven. For those who don't know by now, Piven was the guest host for WWE RAW on Monday Night. He had a guest co-host in Dr. Ken to help him out on top of that.
When he came out, cheers flooded the arena. I don't know if there was an applause sign similar to that on ECW when the Abraham Washington Show was on, but I digress. In any case, he came out and did a pretty well to start it off.
When The Miz and John Cena came ...
Justin Young’s “Past Vs. Present” No. 2
On August - 6 - 2009
Well, there were some of you who agreed with my choices, and those who didn't, but I am back with the second installment of PvP, this time, with a couple of changes.
First, we're going to go cross-promotional. That's right, I'm taking all superstars, not just WWE.
Second, I will be listing the years of the superstars, sort of an NCAA/Madden style where you can choose the best years of your favorite franchise.
That being said, let's get this started.
Match 1: Evan Bourne (WWE-2009) vs. Billy Kidman (WCW-1998)
This would be a pretty even matchup, as both superstars are high-flying, death-defying, and masters of ...
Taking a Stroll Down Memory Lane
On August - 5 - 2009
Last Sunday we experienced torrential rainfall here in Central Jersey. It rained so much that the satellite connection in my house was taken out. Additionally, I was battling a pretty nasty hangover on Sunday, so as you can imagine, I was not a happy camper.
With my Xbox broken, and no TV to watch I began to weigh my options; I decided to stumble up the stairs, go to my room and play some Nintendo 64. My next dilemma, what game to play…
Mario Kart: not in the mood
Star Fox: Tempting… but not what I was looking for
1080 Snowboarding: No thanks
As my ...
Exclusive B/R Interview: Catching Up With Rikishi
On August - 5 - 2009
Earlier this week, I was fortunate enough to have a conversation with former Superstar of World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action, Rikishi (Solofa Fatu).
Fatu is the nephew of WWE legends The Wild Samoans and Rocky Johnson. He also is cousins with former WWE Superstars, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Samu (WWF), Yokozuna, and Rosey. Fatu is brothers with Umaga and The Tonga Kid.
Fatu (currently working in Revolución Lucha Libre as Kishi) is the current Absolute International Champion. Working as Rikishi in the WWE/F, he had been in great tag teams such as Too Cool and The Headshrinkers. As much as ...
Ken Anderson Ready to Break Mr. Kennedy’s Curse
On August - 5 - 2009
When I first heard that Ken “Mr. Kennedy” Anderson was released from WWE this year, I couldn't help but shake my head. It all happened so fast that it was hard to process.
Just earlier in the week, Mr. Kennedy was in the main event of Raw as part of a ten-man tag match. By the end of it, he was out of a job.
My initial reaction was shock, then disappointment.
Here was a wrestler who could have been a huge superstar.
Instead, he seemingly became this decade's version of Ahmed Johnson—a wrestler that gains popularity and gets to the cusp of main ...
Ryding From the Heels: Is It Time to Face the Standard?
On August - 5 - 2009
I tuned into ECW this week as I do regularly and it was quite the show. The show began with the Abraham Washington show. Usually the show takes place half way into ECW, but opening the show was a bit weird to me.
I'm sure many weren't happy with the AW show starting of ECW, as he's not the toast of town, though I think he's decent.
Abe played the crowd and did the usual plugging of his show as he always does before praising and insulting the city, which was Long Island, N.Y.
Before he could waste anymore ...
Jeremy Piven on Raw Makes Me Want to Eat My Own Face
On August - 5 - 2009
The guest host gimmick has had its ups and downs. Notable guests include Shaq, Seth Greene and Ted Dibiase, the Million Dollar Man. Each brought something new and unique to the show and added to the storyline in one way or another.
Besides ZZ Top, who didn't seem like they knew where they were most of the time and provided the absolute worst guitar synching I've ever seen (most 13-year-old air guitarists are more convincing), there haven't been a whole lot of letdowns yet.
Enter Jeremy Piven.
The night started off innocently enough with announcer Lillian Garcia going over Piven's credentials and ending ...
Christian Retains His Championship in an Extreme Main Event on ECW
On August - 4 - 2009
I was pretty impressed with ECW tonight. I thought it was going to be awful since it started off with Abraham Washington's talk show, but even that turned out to be better than usual.
I was honestly dreading how ECW was going to turn out starting with the man I despise more than Cena, Abraham Washington. He started off with those lame jokes that he always tells, this time targeting where ECW was being taped, Long Island, NY.
His jokes were cut short, however, by none other than Zack Ryder. The two exchanged insults and then agreed to focus on someone who was ...
When the WWE Meets Street Fighter
On August - 4 - 2009
There are two things I loved back when I was young and Hornswoggle's size: professional wrestling and video games. My love for both have wavered a bit over the years but they still played a major part in my upbringing.
The biggest name in wrestling is none other than the WWE.
One of the biggest franchises in the videogame world is Capcom's Street Fighter series. The countless quarters I would lose in the arcades pulling off Hadoukens and the hours tapping away on the Sega and Super Nintendo controllers. Street Fighter was simply awesome.
The following slides will show the comparison ...
Inside The Mind With Dr Hayley: Edge
On August - 4 - 2009
It's surprising what happens in one week away from the office. It was all relaxed before I left, but now, it is absolute chaos!
Phones ringing, pagers bleeping, my computer crashing...
I went to find Stan, but all that could be heard of him was his voice in the cupboard shouting that if Cena didn't stop, he was going to riot. Backing off from this situation, I went to my list of clients to see who was going to need my help next.
It was then that I heard my mobile phone going off...
