Handing Over My Competition

Posted by Jev On September - 20 - 2009
Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around B/R for quite a while, and you would be right, as frankly I just haven't had the time for it. Many of you will have experienced similar periods in time where writing a blog about wrestling just has to take a back seat in your life, and I am smack bang in the middle of one. With that being said, the reason for writing this article is simply that I want to hand over my concept for a prediction competition to somebody who has a little more time for this ...

TNA, to Succeed You Need to Start Airing Impact! Live

Posted by Shane H. On September - 19 - 2009
Total Nonstop Action is the second largest wrestling promotion in the United States. It was a company founded after the closing of WCW (World Championship Wrestling) in 2002 by Jerry and Jeff Jarrett. In the eight years of existence, the company has grown tremendously. Starting off, the company would put on weekly pay-per-view shows, generally held at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds. By operating in one area, and not touring like other promotions, the company was keeping costs down. In 2004, the company would get a deal with Fox Sports Net and TNA Impact! was started. After consistently scoring low ratings, TNA's one-year ...

B/R Wrestling Section Competition: The Voting

Posted by Joe Burgett On September - 19 - 2009
In what could be the best writing competition we have seen on B/R in some time, I have to say I am proud of all involved in the "Who Made the Biggest Impact" competition. Every single one of you made a great case for the wrestler you picked. At the beginning when everyone was picking, I thought some were crazy picks. But after reading the articles on these wrestlers, I had to change my mind a bit. Which, believe me, is hard to do. Every single one of the articles got one or more AOTD votes, some had more than others, but ...

Jerry “the King” Lawler Has Had More Impact than Any Other Wrestler

According to paleontologists, something monumental and unprecedented in Terran history occurred some 65 million years ago. The dinosaurs still ruled the earth, but subtle changes had been taking place that set the stage for a catastrophic event that would literally change the world.   Studies indicate that a massive asteroid crashed into earth, setting off an intricate chain of events that subsequently led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, dominance of mammals, and ultimately the rise of the bipedal primates known as homo sapiens, or “man.”   One celestial body—a mere six-to-12 miles in diameter—set in motion the events that forever changed the history ...

Does Everyone Get Screwed In Canada? Ask The Undertaker

Posted by lee raydean On September - 18 - 2009
It's Friday night and I am sitting here watching the opening of Smackdown. Teddy Long pulled up in a limo and looked mighty worried, scared if you will. He had many security guards around him. I can't say that I blame him because at Breaking Point, he, C M Crooked Punk, and the ref had it preplanned to screw the Undertaker over. Why is there such a great conspiracy against the dead man? Who ordered Teddy and Scott Armstrong to go along with this? It just goes to show all of us wrestling fans that Punk is afraid of the phenom. He ...

B/R’s Tag Team Tournament: Quarter-Finals

Posted by Jessy Morris On September - 18 - 2009
With the second round now over, only eight teams are left standing, and it's time for the quarter-finals to begin. The second round featured some upsets, and such teams as LAX, Legacy, Los Guerreros, and The Hart Foundation have been eliminated. Let the quarter-finals begin.   The Hardy Boyz vs. Harlem Heat It's safe to say that, in my opinion, The Hardy Boyz pulled off the upset in the second round, eliminating The Hart Foundation. Harlem Heat also did well with the elimination of LAX. Although these two teams have never met in the ring, this would be an exciting match. Harlem Heat is much bigger ...

Pro Wrestling Needs a Union

Posted by Daris Brown On September - 18 - 2009
Check the Miz’s twitter page and you’ll see comments like “on my way to my second home, the airport,” signifying the nonstop world of professional wrestling. Turn on your television and you’ll see TMZ reporting another professional wrestler arrested. What is it this time? Steroids, weed, drunk driving?   Click on your favorite promotion’s website and you’ll see wrestlers going through the embarrassment of having to kiss promoter’s butt or having promoters break their contracts and screwing the wrestler out of a world title and more importantly their legacy. All of this controversy could be greatly reduced if there was a professional ...

The Great One’s Lasting Impact On Professional Wrestling

Posted by Mike Salvatore On September - 17 - 2009
Dwayne Johnson was not your typical wrestler. In fact it seemed Johnson was destined for a career in the NFL until injuries and bad luck got in the way. Well the NFL’s loss was professional wrestling’s gain as Johnson would become someone who would truly transcend the sport of wrestling and leave his mark forever.   At the start of his career there was nothing that made Rocky Maivia stand out among the thousands of other wrestlers in the business, let alone be up for discussion of which wrestler had the biggest impact on professional wrestling.   He was a true baby face who achieved ...

Sycho Sid: The Most Impacted Man in Sports Entertainment [HUMOR]

Posted by Vitamin D On September - 17 - 2009
It’s no secret the life of a professional wrestler is beyond rigorous.  In fact, take away the expected bumps, bruises, cuts, scrapes, burns, etc a wrestler receives in the course of in-ring action.   Let’s take a look at the rigorous schedule they face.   A pro wrestler working on the road is travelling for most of the year, thanks to the fact that there is no such thing as an offseason in professional wrestling.   For extremely long stretches of time, a wrestler is staying in a hotel overnight.  I’m not sure about anyone else, but for me, strange places make for restless, sleepless nights.   Of ...

Extreme Impact: Jeff Hardy Left His Mark On Professional Wrestling

Posted by Justin Thomas On September - 17 - 2009
Who has made the greatest impact in professional wrestling history? That question could be answered by many different names. You've got Hulk Hogan (only had three moves), you've got Bret Hart (he had the personality of a soda can), you've got The Rock (sell-out), you've got Ric Flair (does he know what "retirement" means?), you've got Triple H (married to the boss), you've got Shawn Michaels (he screwed Bret), and so many other worthless pieces of wrestling history. Why are they worthless, you ask? Because they all pale in comparison to the extreme, charismatic, rainbow-haired, fate twisting, enigmatic warrior—Jeff Hardy. For years, Jeff ...
