Why Did Vince McMahon Back CM Punk at Breaking Point to Screw Over Undertaker?
On October - 11 - 2009
Friday Night Smackdown was off the hook this last past week. At the start of the show, GM Teddy Long was already in the ring. He was making announcements and making matches for Bragging Rights.
On cue, former Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk came down to the ring before Teddy had a chance to finish his announcements. Punk was upset that he wasn't going to give him his title rematch until Bragging Rights.
Instead, Punk was to face Batista that night on Smackdown. Someone wasn't really too happy with that. Punk got Punk'd that night as well.
Just about then, familiar music played and ...
The Hypocrisy of the WWE’s PG Programming: My Latest Gripe
On October - 11 - 2009
The wrestling business goes through different eras. Fine.
Professional wrestling is a business. Right.
The WWE is PG; I get that.
Does that mean the WWE can’t do things differently from what we are currently getting? They surely can.
There is a no-blood edict currently in the land of the WWE. I’m no sadist. I don’t need to see someone gushing after a chair shot, but I would like the WWE to be a bit more realistic. Humans bleed.
Heck, I’m sure I can turn on the television and view a children cartoon (also PG) and see some vividly colored creature wincing in pain after ...
Lacey Von Erich: Yeah, She Is Hot, But a Great Pro Wrestler She Is Not!
On October - 10 - 2009
When I heard that Lacey Von Erich was signed to TNA Wrestling, I immediately thought she would be like Lauren or So Cal Val. You know, one of the people there to look good, occasionally ask questions, and stay away from in-ring action.
But, when I saw she was taking the place of Angelina Love in "The Beautiful People", I immediately was taken back.
Love was released for contract issues; her Visa was not handled correctly since day one in TNA, when TNA realized they could have the law on their back, they were forced to release the former Knockout ...
HvH Round 2: Matches We’ll Never See Thanks to the WWE PG Era [HUMOR]
On October - 10 - 2009
In today's setting of Professional Wrestling, you'll find few elements of both in ring action, and out, that can be considered "risque". To point to recent evidence of this fact, the Diva Bowl on this past week's Monday Night Raw is a good indicator.
Recently, I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Greenwich, Connecticut and meet with the WWE Creative team.
Sadly, none of the ideas I pitched were accepted. I was met with "No, that's over the top", "Too much", "That's just wrong", and even a "That match makes Baby Jesus weep for you".
Let's see what you, the ...
Ranking The Top 50 Tag Teams: The PWI Years (9-1)
On October - 10 - 2009
I like to thank everyone for reading these articles. It was fun to go down memory lane with the many tag teams that I grew up reading about and watching.
It was no surprise that many of the tag teams made their mark in the '80s. Many people have dubbed that era the "Golden Years of Tag Team Wrestling."
Regional organizations like Georgia, Mid-South and World Class mostly had main events that were tag team matches. There were many times that the tag teams in Jim Crockett Promotions and AWA were more popular and exciting than the World Champions.
In the late 80s, the WWF tag team division ...
Survivor Series Gets Makeover, HvH Round 2 (Humor)
On October - 9 - 2009
Now that No Way Out has gone the way of Cyber Sunday, Armageddon, and No Mercy, the WWE has turned its attention to the second-oldest Pay Per View in its stable, Survivor Series.
The Survivor Series is out the window and in steps the ultimate Pay Per View—Gimmick Survival.
Yes, the WWE has decided to just be blunt with their message. They are going to shove the gimmicks and stipulations down our throat.
The WWE wants to make this brand-new event a memorable one so they are pulling out all the stops. No cost is too high as legends will make ...
The Glory Days of Wrestling: The True 1980s Golden Age
On October - 9 - 2009
There's nothing in the world which compares to sitting down in front of the television on an otherwise dull evening and embracing the true spirit of wrestling.
Whether it be the newest offering from WWE, or an old VHS of NWA, there is nothing that can come close to settling down with a bottle of Coca-Cola, cranking up the volume and indulging in a sports pastime which has enthralled us over the generations.
With the state of wrestling today, it's no surprise that some true fans explore the vaults for some classic magic from the bygone eras.
It's no surprise either that the ...
John Cena Off Raw: Studying the Implications of “WWE Bragging Rights”
On October - 9 - 2009
On the last episode of Raw, a match was added for the latest WWE PPV: Bragging Rights. Randy Orton vs. John Cena yet again. But this time, it will be an "anything goes" Iron Man match for the WWE championship.
If Cena wins, he get's the title. If Orton wins, Cena has to leave Raw.
For the past year, I have noticed that Orton was getting more of a push than Cena—I guess he's the WWE's top guy right now. But Cena has been the poster boy for the WWE since 2005, so (for the WWE) this is not just some ordinary feud.
However, for ...
Booker T and Scott Steiner Gone Soon and RVD Coming in? Big TNA News
On October - 8 - 2009
As we all know in the world of professional wrestling, there are rumors but also surprising facts out there. This seems to be straddling the line a bit, but this "rumor" looks to be fact.
Booker T has been very upset with TNA in recent months, and it pretty much came to a head in their overseas tour. While in Switzerland, Booker T was supposed to be in the main event along with Scott Steiner and Kurt Angle as his partners vs Beer Money and Hernandez.
Steiner decided to rip apart the Swiss flag, which made the fans very unhappy naturally. So, ...
