Will TNA’s Acquisition of Hulk Hogan Be a Bust?

Posted by Hurricane Hubbard On November - 7 - 2009
So, for the past two weeks people from around the world have supposedly been talking about the acquisition of a fellow by the name of Terry Bollea to TNA Wrestling. This man's mere name was supposed to increase television ratings astronomically. Even rumors of Ric Flair and Rob Van Dam jumping aboard circulated throughout the wrestling community. Before the message could even be spread to everyone, word was going around that the company could actually develop a new show to compete with Monday Night Raw! All of this hype and commotion about Hulk Hogan coming to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and where are they at currently? You see, ...

Out of the Spotlight: Legends of Wrestling (Second Edition)

Posted by Shane H. On November - 7 - 2009
This is the second edition of the Legends of Wrestling slideshow. For those interested in the first one, please seek it out in my archives. Throughout history wrestling fans have been entertained by many individuals. The colorful characters who have laced up their boots for the fan's enjoyment are to be appreciated for the art they perform in the wrestling ring. Here I will look back at five individuals. Their mark on wrestling might differ but know that they left an impact, nonetheless. *Going forward, when addressing the WWE, I may use WWF, as the men I chronicle here worked with the ...
For a few months now the WWE has had a guest host "run" Raw each week.  Some guest hosts have been great, and some have fallen flat.  Shaq was a very popular appearance, whereas Nancy O'Dell seemed to be less interesting to WWE fans, granted she is quite attractive.  The real question here: is it helping the WWE or hurting them? Some fans have enjoyed this new format for the Monday Night Wrestling show while others have left altogether.  I tend to agree with some people that the guest host spots are taking too much time away from the wrestling people ...

William Regal: WWE’s Most Misused and Underappreciated Heel

Posted by Jeremiah Graves On November - 4 - 2009
William Regal deserves better.   That phrase may be a tough pill to swallow when you consider he has held more than 60 championships worldwide. An impressive 19 of those title wins took place in either WCW or WWE.   Additionally, the brawling Brit is one of a select few to win the coveted King of the Ring tournament, generally an honor only given to up-and-coming superstars that the WWE has handpicked for greatness.   Despite all that, William Regal deserves better.   You may be asking why he deserves better, and the answer is a simple one: Regal is currently plying his trade in the depths of ...

Latest On Jeff Hardy’s Court Case: Was He Innocent?

Posted by Joe Burgett On November - 4 - 2009
As we probably all heard by now, Jeff Hardy's court case was set for today, November 4, 2009. He was arrested on drug trafficking charges and possession.  I would think it is more so possession than anything else, but you all know my opinion there. In any case, there was nothing special that happened today.  He was not charged for anything or found innocent. He will return to court December 2nd for a probable cause hearing. Hardy did not appear in court today, and was instead represented by his lawyer Jim Van Camp. During a recess, Van Camp claimed that Hardy planned ...

Batista Unloads on His Best Friend, Rey Mysterio, at Bragging Rights

Posted by lee raydean On November - 3 - 2009
At Bragging Rights, after a Fatal Four Way Match that featured Rey Mysterio, his friend Batista, Undertaker and CM Punk. They all wanted what Undertaker had and that was the heavyweight belt. It was supposed to be every man for himself. No disqualifications, a pin or submission would win the match. These four superstars let their abilities speak for themselves. This match wasn't supposed to be personal between at least two of the grapplers, Mysterio and Batista. They were best friends, like family, like brothers. On that fateful night, everything changed. Batista did become an animal and turned rabid against his long time ...

Sheamus the Destroyer: Right Idea, Wrong Execution for WWE

Posted by Jeremiah Graves On November - 3 - 2009
Sheamus is supposed to be a monster heel.   I get it. We all get it.   I’m just not buying it…yet.   There’s no denying that “The Celtic Warrior” has a very unique look and a powerful arsenal of moves.   Additionally, he’s the newest member of the RAW roster and has made quite the impression during his first two weeks on the program.   In his short time on the flagship program, we’ve gotten a couple of good promos out of the Irish brawler and two violent squash matches over Jamie Noble.   What I haven’t seen is anything that really makes me care and that applies to his time ...
As many of you have heard by now, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff have signed with TNA Wrestling. Now, this came at a good time because TNA could really use some help these days. They are really progressing after the signing, and there are some big things happening there now. We can safely say the signing has helped moral there, but we will have to wait and see if it helps the company in the long run. However, with the news that has recently come out about Hogan, the moral may have taken a hit. TNA scheduled iMPACT tapings for this ...
Many months ago I came up with the idea of creating a Bleacher Report wrestling lexicon (can be found in my archives if interested) where terms, coined here, would be recorded and could be inserted in our conversations here. I discontinued the lexicon after a few editions but I have found that there are several late entries to be added, thanks to my observations of this community lately. Too many writers and commenters here seem to be devout Markists . They practice the religion of Markism , not to be confused with Marxism. Markism : n. The practice of having one's ...

Great Scot: Roddy Piper to Host RAW

Posted by Jeremiah Graves On November - 2 - 2009
Rumors are circulating that “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has been asked to host an upcoming episode of RAW.   The rumors—largely spurred by a recent interview with Piper —state that he is in consideration to host the November 16 episode emanating from Madison Square Garden.   It is believed that Piper is currently the first runner-up for hosting duties that night, but many other internet dirt sheets are stating that recent TNA-signee, Hulk Hogan was the only person standing in his way.   Now that Hogan has signed with TNA he won’t be hosting RAW any time soon, so hopefully that completely clears the way for Piper ...
