In my humble opinion, pro wrestling will die a gruesome death if the old ECW, nWo, and Attitude Era are brought back, if Sheamus has the rug swept up from under his push, and if TNA continues to allow Hulk Hogan to dominate their programming. Period. A while back, I crafted an article that talked about how the WWE Divas could benefit from looking back at what made the division successful in the past. Although that particular article didn't receive as many reads as I thought it would, it seems that several faithful B/R members and fans have taken my words ...

WWE: Can Managers Ever Be Successful Again?

Posted by On December - 28 - 2009
When I began watching wrestling in the '80s, there was a different feeling to the events than there is today.  Wrestlers used to walk down much more narrow ramps so they could easily interact with the fans on either side.  Announcers were ex-wrestlers, for the most part, and not broadcast journalism majors.  And one huge difference: Managers were everywhere. The lost art of the wrestling manager is one that could easily come back to prominence.  Back in the day they had guys like Paul Bearer, Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Albano, Cornette, Fuji, Hillbilly Jim, Tully Blanchard and women like Sensational Sherri, Elizabeth and ...

The World’s Biggest Mark Spoils the WWE Championship Saga

Posted by Eric Steiner AKA The Worlds Biggest Mark On December - 28 - 2009
I was excited to hear the news that WWE Superstars John Cena and (WWE Champion) Sheamus would meet in a match with the WWE Championship on the line on Monday Night RAW. Until I decided to get online to a few websites giving spoilers for the Championship match and other information... So now I present to you the spoilers that I have read.  I have an evil grin while I type these words like the "Grinch Who Stole Christmas," because if I can't enjoy the upcoming RAW shows with blissful ignorance—NOBODY CAN!!!! Here is the latest word on who is plotted to win the WWE Championship match ...

Will John Cena Regain the WWE Title?

Posted by Scott Manyard On December - 28 - 2009
The biggest question going into the last Raw of 2009 is whether John Cena will be champ or not. Last week, guest host Johnny Damon set a match between John Cena and Sheamus for the WWE Championship. The night after his loss at TLC, Cena gave an impassioned speech about how he would never let the fans down like he did again and promised that he would not lose until he became champion. So obviously John Cena will win the title right? Not so fast. I have a couple of reasons why Cena won't win. First off Sheamus has only held the belt for two ...

Which WWE/TNA Stars Made the Biggest Impact in 2009?

Posted by On December - 27 - 2009
2009 was at best a decent year in wrestling.  I personally have been a little disappointed with some aspects of certain companies, but there were certainly many great moments with many superstars in 2009. So what superstar made the biggest Impact in the past year? On WWE Raw, I think many people would say Randy Orton.  He has cemented himself into the fabric of WWE over the past year for many different reasons.  In 2009 Orton won the WWE Championship on three separate occasions.  He played the role of a heel champion to perfection with his frequent sneak attacks and using his ...

Another nWo Reunion? I Hope Not

Posted by Scott Manyard On December - 27 - 2009
I would once again like to thank everyone for their kind words on my first article, and hopefully I will be here at BR for a long time to come. Rumors are swirling around the Internet that we might be in for another nWo reunion. It is rumored that Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) and Sean Waltman (1-2-3 Kid and X-Pac) will be making a visit to the TNA Impact Zone on Jan. 4. With Hulk Hogan set to make his TNA debut on the same night, it brings up the question, are we in for another nWo reunion? If so, TNA will be taking a ...

Will Rivalry Spark A New Era In WWE?

Posted by Chris B On December - 26 - 2009
This is somewhat of a continuation of my last article, but in this article I'll be talking more in depth about this whole WWE vs TNA ratings war shtick. Of course with a daily dose of women's wrestling thrown in there! ;) On January 4th, 2010 TNA is directly going after the WWE by moving their time slot to Monday nights. Same time, same format, different company. Viewers will be forced to choose between the always engaging Raw (sic) and TNA. Does TNA stand a chance? Maybe. Do they have what it takes to beat WWE? I'm not so sure. Looking at both companies ...

My Top Ten Wrestlers of 2009

Posted by Steven Ransiear On December - 26 - 2009
So with only a few days left until 2010 begins, it seems like the perfect time to run down my list of the best wrestlers of the year. Now this is just my opinion, so you may or may not agree with it. Now let's get to the list!   Number X: Kofi Kingston Kofi is my choice for breakout star of the year, that alone qualifies him for number 10 on my list. But don't think that he just gets in by default. No, Kofi flat-out exploded this year in the WWE. He transitioned from ECW to Raw which was a move that ...
Since Bret Hart has signed with WWE, I figured I would re-watch the documentary made about him.  When Bret Hart was at the end of his WWE career, he gave exclusive access to a Canadian Filmmaker named Paul Jay to document his life.  This documentary happened to be shot at the same time as the Montreal Screwjob. I remember watching this a long time ago right after it came out on some random channel, but I was too young to appreciate how great of a documentary this really was or what it was trying to say. It goes very deep into Bret's personal life ...
Despite my personal feelings on the matter, I think Hogan coming to TNA will amp things up quite a bit.  The guy is one of the most recognized people world wide, that's a fact. When Hogan makes his way to the TNA Impact Zone for the first time, people will be watching.  Maybe the 3.0 rating Hogan says they will have is out of reach, but you never know. I for one will be checking out Hogan and Bischoff's results as the year progresses.  With all the recent buzz TNA has been getting, this can only be good for them. TNA is still ...
