Sheamus Champion? WWE, What Were You thinking?

Posted by JVCXV On December - 21 - 2009
For the past few weeks, the WWE universe has been trying to wrap its head around Sheamus as WWE Champion.  Some like the idea, mainly because it introduces new blood into the WWE championship picture, a picture that, over time, has become very stale. Others (like myself) feel that Sheamus has done nothing of significance (as of yet) to warrant a title reign, let alone the top prize in WWE.  Now let me start off by saying that this isn’t a criticism of Stephen Farrelly (the man who portrays Sheamus), because, quite frankly, I haven’t seen him in enough matches to be ...

How Will Bret Hart’s Return to WWE Affect His Legacy?

Posted by Sean Jackson On December - 21 - 2009
When you think of Bret Hart what do you think? Do you remember the Montreal Screwjob? Do you think of his memorable matches against Mr. Perfect Curt Henning or Stone Cold Steve Austin?   Or do you think about all the personal trials he’s had to endure losing family members, friends, and going through a stroke.   When news hit that Bret Hart was returning to the WWE it was nothing short of shocking. This is the same man who was swerved by them in 1997. This was the same man who lost his brother Owen, to a stunt in 1999. There’s been a ...

2009 TNA Wrestling Almost Over: Knockouts Year In Review

Posted by Christi Lott On December - 21 - 2009
As with the WWE Divas, it's time to take a look back at 2009 for the TNA Knockouts, and see what 2010 could have in store.   Alissa Flash More commonly known as Cheerleader Melissa, and while in TNA as Raisha Saeed, a new Knockout known as Alissa Flash debuted in July. Throughout this short time in TNA, Alissa has garnered quite the reputation as an extremely vicious and tough heel, though she has quite the losing streak. In October she lost a great falls count anywhere match against Hamada, and has struggled in developing into a serious heel contender. 2010 can hold nothing but great hopes and ...

Carlito and Primo: WWE Needs To Pair Them Up Again

Posted by On December - 20 - 2009
Recently it has been said that both Carlito and Primo are unhappy with their status in WWE.  Both men have been basically jobbing in the past few months and they have fallen flat from their push earlier in the year. Carlito was once touted as the next Roddy Piper.  He had a great talk show segment with Carlito's Cabana, he had great charisma, and he was one of WWE's bright young stars.  His US title win over John Cena seemed to signify WWE wanted to push Carlito. Since those days, a lot has changed.  Carlito has moved from one failed storyline to the ...
Last year, I had the idea to look at some of the FCW matches on YouTube. Since I couldn't see them on TV, seeing as they only show in Florida and I live in Alabama, this was the only way I could check out the future stars of the WWE outside of going to a live show in Tampa. However, they are supposed to be doing their first tour in 2010. So all of the FCW fans out there may get to go to a live show in their town. For dates and towns they are going to be at, visit FCWWrestling.com. In any case, ...

CvC: The Natural Choice for Greatest Face of a Promotion

Posted by George Peterson On December - 19 - 2009
What can you say about Ric Flair, that hasn't been said thousands of times before? Not a whole heck of a lot. Whether it be the titles won, the signature catch phrases or pure wrestling ability, the Nature Boy stands in very select company when arguing who is the greatest pro wrestler of all time. That isn't the basis for this CvC, however. The argument is for the greatest face in any promotion ever. The best way that I can consider answering that is only by my personal experiences as a wrestling fan since 1981. At that time, growing up in Connecticut, the heart of the ...
The WWE has always been a place for big men, no one will argue that.  If you look throughout history most men who have held the WWE title have been 240 lbs or more.  What the WWE is missing the boat on is the lightweight action that some of their roster can provide. The WWE has a ton of talent in the "240 lbs and under" bracket and they should capitalize on that.  Having little guys feud with big guys is fun sometimes, but when Rey Mysterio is only facing guys who can eat him for breakfast, it gets old.  I ...
Last night on Smackdown, we saw Rey Mysterio beat Batista to become the No. 1 Contender for the Undertaker's World Heavyweight Championship.  This was a surprise to me since I did not read the spoilers for the show. Rey vs. Undertaker will not end up being a one on one match.  These two guys are both in need of surgery and I don't think that they would have the two top faces of the show go at it without a heel in the mix. I know face vs. face matches work sometimes, but not in this case.  Batista won't be on ...
TNA is seeing a few changes in their Knockouts division.   As has been reported previously here at Bleacher Report, as well as in other places, Christy Hemme has announced via a podcast that she has retired from active in-ring wrestling.   Christy openly admitted that she found herself nervous during the six-woman tag match on iMPACT on Oct. 29.  During the match, she tensed up before taking a chokeslam from Lacey Von Erich.   Hemme was quoted as saying “I felt it wasn’t right to continue. I couldn’t do this move or that move. I just felt like a (expletive).”    She didn’t feel it was fair ...

CvC: Shawn Michaels is the Greatest Face of Any Promotion

Posted by Jamie H On December - 18 - 2009
November 9, 1997 was the date. Molson Centre, Montreal, Canada was the place. Survivor Series was the event. Heck, I’d even tell you what the time was; if only I knew. But it is immaterial in the end, for this night would forever be known by wrestling fans around the world as “The Screwjob.” Now, you may well be reading this wondering why I chose to start this piece on Shawn Michaels the way I did—with the Montreal Screwjob. So, I’ll tell you. This isn’t just another typical article about HBK; in this article I will be putting forward my argument ...
