Wrestle Kingdom IV Preview

Posted by Steven Ransiear On January - 2 - 2010
It's that's time of year again, and I don't mean the holidays. It's close to Jan. 4, which means it's Wrestle Kingdom time for New Japan Pro Wrestling. If you aren't familiar with the event, it's the name given to the past few annual Jan. 4 Tokyo Dome shows put on by New Japan. Think of it as New Japan's Wrestlemania. It's a tradition that kicks off the wrestling year for Japan's biggest company. The event has gotten some coverage here in the states lately thanks to TNA's involvement. Both of the Global Impact shows were taken from Wrestle Kingdom events. Last year ...
We are nearing the top and will take a look at the next ten wrestlers listed by Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) in 2003.   15 - Nick Bockwinkel The Bockwinkel vs. Verne Gagne feud is what brought the AWA to the top of wrestling during the 70s. Bockwinkel ended Gagne's title reign of seven years in 1975, winning his first of four AWA World Heavyweight Championships. He was the face of the organization heading into the 80s and fought top wrestlers like Billy Robinson, Dick The Bruiser, Crusher, Mad Dog Vachon, Jerry Lawler, Otto Wanz, and Mr. Saito. Bockwinkel also was part of a successful heel ...

Some Decisions TNA Need to Make in Order to Be Successful

Posted by Devon Givens On January - 2 - 2010
After sitting through and reading some of the problems that TNA has with its company, I felt I should write my own little article on some decisions that can help TNA in the long run.   1. Utilize the X-Division in a more efficient manner Lately the X-Division champ, Amazing Red has been MIA for nearly over two months now over his loss to Scott Steiner, and the X-Division has been nowhere on television lately except on YouTube.  Right now, TNA has a handful of X-Division stars who are hungry for the belt: "The Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, Consequences Creed, Homicide, Chris Sabin, Alex ...

TNA Does Not Have to Beat WWE on Monday to Be a Success

Posted by Nick Signorelli On January - 2 - 2010
I don't write a lot of articles about wrestling, because most in the community do a good enough job that I would rather read than write.  Not only that, every time I come up with an idea, someone already has written about it. Everyone is talking about the "NEW" Monday Night War that is coming between TNA and the WWE.  TNA struck the first shot by bringing in Hollywood Hulk Hogan. One of the boldest moves in TNA history. Not to be outdone, Vince McMahon and the WWE have countered with "The best there is, the best there was, and the best ...

TNA Championships Are Killing TNA

Posted by Ashley Morris On January - 1 - 2010
The following is the third of a series of articles designed to discuss the serious issues that face Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling as fans prepare for the return of Hulk Hogan to prime time, professional wrestling television.Every single championship in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), and their respective champions, are worthless.I was going to weave an elaborate opening statement that expressed my sentiments towards our desire to recognize the best and brightest in our world today. All of that pomp and circumstance is unnecessary, however, and I'm choosing here to jump straight to the point.   Point No. 3—TNA Should Make Their Championships ...

2009 Pro Wrestling Awards: Tag Team of the Year

Posted by Shane H. On January - 1 - 2010
If you haven't already voted for the 2009 Newcomer of the Year, do so now by clicking here . In the world of professional wrestling it is not always what you do individually but what you accomplish as a team. Tag team wrestling has been an integral part of the wrestling world and has provided fans with the chance to see great teams like Legion of Doom, The Hardyz, Edge and Christian, The Dudleyz, and the Steiner Brothers, just to name a few. While the tag team wrestling scene hasn't been that great as of late in the WWE, TNA and ...

WWE vs. TNA: Why The WWE Will Win

Posted by Scott Manyard On January - 1 - 2010
Jan. 4 will signify what many are calling the second coming of the famed Monday Night Wars. This upcoming war is significantly different as WWE's new competitor is now TNA and arguably WCW was light years ahead of TNA when it first started setting its eyes on the ratings war. With the arrival of Hulk Hogan set for TNA and the epic return of Bret "The Hitman" Hart for WWE, both companies show the promise for great programming. From what I am reading and hearing TNA feels that if ratings are good enough then they will not hesitate to make Impact on Mondays ...

Remembering Steve “Dr. Death” Williams

Posted by Steven Ransiear On January - 1 - 2010
This is a very sad article for me to write. I didn't think that my first article of the new year would be a look back at my favorite wrestler's career in the wake of his death. I find it that far too often, I log on to the Internet and see that another wrestler has passed away.  Steve "Dr. Death" Williams was one of the most decorated and feared wrestlers in any era. He held championships around the world and competed for just about every major wrestling promotion you can name. Like many of the guys from Texas and Oklahoma, ...

2009 Pro Wrestling Awards: Newcomer of the Year

Posted by Shane H. On January - 1 - 2010
This wraps up my first year as community leader of the B/R Wrestling Community. The previous head honcho, Ron Johnson, did an awesome job with his end of the year awards so I have no shame in using his model to do the 2009 edition. This piece will feature the 2009 Newcomer of the Year.   No. 1) Sheamus, ECW/RAW You can't do newcomer of the year without speaking about the man who has sparked a whole lot of debate in the WWE Universe when he became world champion. Sheamus came up on ECW back on June 30 and had feuds with Goldust and ...

Did Yoshi Tatsu Beat Up WWE Champion Sheamus?

Posted by On January - 1 - 2010
None of this is confirmed, simply rumors I have read, but they seem to be true for the most part. Apparently a few years back Yoshi, Sheamus and Ted Dibiase were roommates in Florida. Sheamus apparently acted like the head of the apartment while the three lived together.  The story goes that Sheamus was using things in the apartment that belonged to Yoshi and Ted, specifically a protein drink mixer. Apparently, Ted and Yoshi confronted Sheamus at the same time one day about the use of their items in the apartment. This made Sheamus upset enough to react physically. The story goes, Sheamus threw the ...
