Black History Month and Pro Wrestling

Posted by Anakin Cane On February - 23 - 2010
As Black History Month comes to a close, I felt this would be an excellent first article topic. First off, every month should be Black History month, as with any race or gender, the contributions throughout history by all races are enormous and have affected the human race tremendously. As educators, we should be teaching our children more than just the basics of African-American contributors in history, but get to know more than just Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, Rosa Parks, and Jackie Robinson. Of course we need to know the formers historic contributions, but we should expand our ...

10 Reasons To Love Pro Wrestling

Posted by Dick Normandy On February - 23 - 2010
Now that I have officially become the heel of the Bleacher Report wrestling community that all these sports-entertainment weirdos love to hate, I figured it was time I gave back. After writing my last article 10 Reasons Pro Wrestling Is an Absolute Joke , I was accused of only researching the terrible aspects of wrestling by a Bleacher Report wrestling fan in a comment. After laughing it off at first, I thought about the accusation. Maybe I was being overly harsh on wrestling and it's fans, and maybe in my attempt at satire and humor, I had overlooked all the good aspects ...

Randy Orton: The WWE’s Ultimate Anti-Hero

Posted by On February - 23 - 2010
Randy Orton is one of WWE's top wrestlers, and his family pedigree no longer has anything to do with it. For a long time, people seemed to think Orton had gotten this far on his family legacy in the business. But over the past few years we have seen him transform into a whole new kind of wrestler. In wrestling there tends to be a line between the good and the bad. Bad guys get booed and good guys get cheered. Bad guys cheat and good guys overcome. But Orton has surpassed all that and become someone fans love and hate at ...

WrestleMania 26: Will Shawn Michaels Hang His Boots Forever?

Posted by Lionheart Nicolo On February - 23 - 2010
He is the Showstopper, the Headliner, and the Main Event. He is a man I respect, and without a shadow of a doubt he is the WWE's most charismatic and most innovative superstar of all time. He took wrestling to great new heights and proved that boyhood dreams do come true. I know him, you know him, and no wrestling fan is a stranger to this man, the Heartbreak Kid himself, Shawn Michaels. He is a surefire Hall of Famer, and was involved in more than a single infamous event in the Sports Entertainment industry. He continuously makes history, and his heart plus dedication attract the ...
With Wrestlemania 26 just around the corner, I find myself more interested in professional wrestling than I have ever been since I was a kid watching The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin dominate the Attitude Era. I think there is potential for a really good card this year and I have a few predictions. Some are obvious, some not so much. Yesterday night, in the Raw Elimination Chamber, John Cena emerged victorious after outlasting Sheamus, Kofi Kingston, Randy Orton, Ted Dibiase, and Triple H. Batista, who had squandered his chance to compete in the Smackdown Elimination Chamber, came out afterwards and ...
A recent barrage of articles claiming pro wrestling is fake and not a real sport have come from seemingly out of nowhere. This person makes fun of pro wrestling, mocking it, mocking the fans, and everything about it. Although no one can really do anything about it since it's his own opinion. We can voice our own comeback about our passion. But what I don't think people understand about this entertainment we fans watch is the danger the superstars themselves face every time they step into the ring. These people travel across the world, away from their families just to have the right ...

Pro Wrestling: The Biggest Fraud on Bleacher Report

Posted by James Evens On February - 23 - 2010
Flipping through the channels tonight, I stumbled upon one of my childhood favorites, Monday Night Raw. I decided I would give it a chance, but that lasted about five minutes before I flipped back to a real sport in NCAA Basketball. Anyhow, I logged onto Bleacher Report as I normally do and noticed that professional wrestling had its own section.  This was shocking to me.  I clicked on it and realized that it was just as big of a joke as the show itself. I remember watching the WWE as a kid and have a lot of respect for the organization, as ...

10 Reasons Pro Wrestling Is an Absolute Joke

Posted by Dick Normandy On February - 22 - 2010
It's been barely 24 hours since writing my article Hey Losers, You Do Know Wrestling Is Fake, Right? I seem to have started a firestorm of debate within the wrestling community here on Bleacher Report. Actually, it wasn't a debate. It was more like facing a lynch mob, as wrestling fans everywhere were ready to defend their "sport" while calling me every name in the book. Because the wrestling community on Bleacher Report was ready to defend itself against an outsider's opinion with such vitriol, I decided to do a little research to see if maybe I was missing something. I felt ...

Savior Series: Let There Be Wrestling

Posted by Jeff Sac On February - 22 - 2010
And on the eighth day, God said, "Let there be...Wrestling, Jabroni!" Then he pile drived Satan through a cumulous cloud. The truth is I never much cared for Wrestling, not that I didn't like it, but I never got excited about it and then I happened to read Dick Normandy's "Hey Losers, You Do Know Wrestling is fake, right?" and "An Open Apology To Wrestling Fans." Personally, I would've found some of it offensive someone telling me that something I loved was fake and reading some of the comments afterwards I wondered if Wrestling fans believed in Santa Claus or the Easter ...

Tuesdays at TNA: Should the Four Horsemen Ride Again?

Posted by John Reid On February - 22 - 2010
While holding up four fingers... Growing up watching the NWA on WTBS Saturday nights, I quickly became a fan of the calm demeanor of Gordon Solie, to the elbows and grit of Dusty Rhodes, to the sheer domination of the Road Warriors as they destroyed the poor Mulkey brothers within seconds.    Despite all of that, nothing enthralled me more than watching “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, and their manager J.J. Dillon control the federation as the infamous Four Horsemen.  They kept me on the edge of my seat with every scathing promo to every time ...
