How Would These Pay-Per-Views Work in Today’s WWE?
On March - 31 - 2010
With all the talk of renaming pay-per-views and getting rid of some, I have thought of a year's worth of pay-per-view programming the WWE could enlist.
I would hope each of them would be a grand slam, but this is just one man's opinion and if they would really work.
January—Royal Rumble
The WWE calendar is set up for the Royal Rumble to be the beginning on the road to WrestleMania. Leave it be and keep the card the same.
February—Elimination Chamber
The Elimination Chamber has been used of late to tie up the loose ends heading into WrestleMania and getting the ball rolling for ...
Wrestling: Kane: From Big Red Machine To Big Nothing
On March - 31 - 2010
Okay let me begin by saying that I am not trying to bash this guy.
Kane is a great wrestler and he used to have great story lines but the key words here are "used to". I'm sure everybody misses the Kane who wore the mask.
I'm sure everybody misses Kane's old entrance theme(without the singing). I'm sure everybody misses Kane who at one point was either feuding against his brother The Undertaker or was with him. Yes the old Kane was great.
So what happened?
Now Kane is walking around without a mask and is pretty much useless if you ask me. Kane used to make a HUGE ...
Randy Orton’s Face-Turn: The Risks and Rewards of De-venomizing The WWE’s Viper
On March - 31 - 2010
Tread softly.
Excited about Randy Orton's "face-turn"?
I'll reiterate, tread softly.
On the heels of Orton's victory at Wrestlemania XXVI , the professional wrestling community has been abuzz over the potential, and later eventual, face-turn of the industry's top heel.
It's different, I'll give you that.
Exciting, possibly.
But nevertheless, as excited as you all might be, the WWE has every reason to be concerned during a time in which I imagine them to feel confident in their creative direction.
After all, it worked out splendidly as every person in the arena (both at Wrestlemania and Raw ) was excited to see Orton dominate, conquer, and pose.
Shades ...
Champ vs. Streak: Only John Cena Can Beat The Undertaker at Wrestlemania
On March - 30 - 2010
Let me get one thing straight right off the bat. I don't want to see John Cena end the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. I think it would be an insult to Undertaker's legacy and an insult to all of the pre-Attitude Adjustment Era fans.
That being said, a showdown between the two men at either Wrestlemania 27 or Wrestlemania 28 is inevitable. Why? John Cena is the last credible threat to Undertaker's streak in the WWE.
Since the Dead Man's squash match against Kane in 2004, there have actually been a few bouts where fans truly believed that the Undertaker could ...
Rumor Report: Nasty Boys Released from TNA Wrestling
On March - 30 - 2010
Recent rumors are circulating that the Nasty Boys have been released from TNA Wrestling.
Ryan Clark of ewrestlingnews.com has reported that according to the webmaster of the official website of The Honky Tonk Man, Brian Knobbs was involved in an incident at a TNA function where Spike TV executives were present.
The report says that the TNA officials were very unhappy with Knobbs, thus resulting in the tag team’s release.
However, The Honky Tonk Man has been the subject of several rumors that have been proven untrue, so take what comes from his mouth or website with a grain of salt.
Clark has also ...
WrestleMania XXVI: A Review of the Sports Entertainment “Eh”-xtravaganza
On March - 30 - 2010
Since I started watching wrestling again back in June 2003, WrestleMania has been an event to both anticipate and fear.
Sometimes that anticipation was fully realized. Sometimes, it wasn't even close. The same goes with the fear: sometimes justified, sometimes unwarranted.
But this year my anticipation and fear has been met not relief or disappointment, but a strange sense of neutrality.
WrestleMania XXVI was simply...okay.
Using the classic five-star rating system, let's look at the matches:
Unified WWE Tag Team Championship: ShowMiz (The Big Show & The Miz) vs. John Morrison & R-Truth
For the record, this was the shortest opening match ever at a WrestleMania.
And history has proven that ...
Shawn Michaels: Will The Heart Break Kid Really Stay Retired?
On March - 30 - 2010
The inevitable happened last night at Wrestlemania XXVI, Shawn Michaels played Russian roulette with his career, and lost.
Of course I'm talking about his match vs. The Undertaker, in which he put his career up against the streak.
It was the reverse of what happened back at Wrestlemania XXIV, when Michaels faced Ric Flair, with Flair's career on the line.
Michaels didn't want to end Flair's career, but Flair egged him on, and Michaels sweet chin musics Flair straight into what we thought at that point was going to be retirement.
This time, The Undertaker was ready to end it all, but stopped in ...
MICHEALS THE REAL STREAK HAS ENDED
On March - 30 - 2010
The Undertaker's streak may still be intact but I am not one bit bothered as the real streak came to an end on Sunday night when Shawn Micheals ended his six year reign as the king of Wrestlemania.
Look back at the Undertaker's streak and most of it is fairly unimpressive, only his matches against HHH and his DX partner Shawn Micheals have been memorable. The others have being predictable or against unworthy opponents. Was Mark Henry ever really going to stop the streak at Wrestlemania 22?
Shawn Micheals' streak however may only be six years old but has been a lot ...
WWE’s Jim Ross Is the Best In the World at What He Does
On March - 30 - 2010
After soaking in WrestleMania for 24 hours, I asked myself "What was missing from the WWE's signature event?" The answer was as plain as the nose on my face, "the Voice of the WWE: good 'ol JR..." Jim Ross.
Even though Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and Matt Striker gave it the "old college try," their styles clashed more than they meshed. Cole couldn't keep up with the action and didn't have much to offer as an analyst. Lawler tried to cover for him (but he's more of a straight-talking man) and Striker could do no more than be himself.
Jim Ross is the ...
The Perfect Goodbye: Shawn Michaels Brings Historic Career To a Close
On March - 30 - 2010
Like thousands of WWE fans around the world, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen as Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker entered the ring at University of Phoenix Stadium Sunday night.
For the duration of their 24-minute match, the fans in attendance, as well as the 100 or so people sharing a venue with me, were on the edge of their seats.
Michaels rattled-off multiple Sweet Chin Music superkicks. The Undertaker doled out every signature maneuver in his arsenal. And neither man would stay down.
As HBK kicked out of yet another Deadman specialty, the Tombstone, the advantage had swung to the ...
