The Miz Wins Again in a Disappointing WWE Royal Rumble PPV

Posted by Ura Pendejo On January - 31 - 2011
The event started off really nicely with the World Heavyweight Championship matchup between Edge the champion and Dolph Ziggler, who was accompanied to the ring by the acting SmackDown general manager and Dolph’s girlfriend, Vickie Guerrero. The match was one of the few bright spots of the night, if not the brightest. Edge gave one of his best performances of late and that really helped the match a lot. Ziggler turned in another big time performance, which really wasn’t that surprising because Ziggler is destined for greatness in the WWE. The end of the match was pretty cleverly worked out, which ...
Tonight, WWE Monday Night Raw comes to us from the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI. Where do we start after what we saw last night? Alberto Del Rio was the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble.  Again, Alberto Del Rio was the winner of the 2011 Royal Rumble.  Wow. Did it feel right?  Not to me at least, nor the crowd in Boston.  When the pyro was going off and he was on the top rope, the crowd was completely silent.  It just didn't look or feel right. Normally I don't mind when the WWE has an upset, a-la The Miz, but this one ...

WWE: Chris Jericho Tops 5 Best Men on the Mic

Posted by joe schmo On January - 31 - 2011
My last list brought about a lot of feedback, mostly from people who defended Edge (not surprising) or Kofi (surprising). This list is going to encompass the top five men with the mic.  There aren’t necessarily more men in the WWE that are good on the mic than bad, but, luckily for us, the WWE only really allows those who can handle themselves on the mic to have some time to express themselves.  Without further ado, my top five mic workers in the WWE.Begin Slideshow
The majority of the wrestling world is discussing the results of last night’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, but this weekend also brought us incredible action from some of the top independent promotions including Dragon Gate USA, Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. Dragon Gate USA had their first ever triple shot weekend, including two shows broadcast live on Internet PPV via gofightlive.tv. The “United” weekend featured the crowning of new champions and showcased the high level of excitement that DGUSA has become known for. Here are the quick results from the New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey shows, courtesy of ...

Ray’s Review: Royal Rumble 2011

Posted by Ray Samuels On January - 31 - 2011
The Road to Wrestlemania has officially started, my fellow Bleachers! You guys must be pretty tired of hearing that especially after Michael Cole has said that 37 times. Yes, I counted. Well, no, I didn’t.Hey did anybody see that sign that said “Trent Barreta should get a push!”? Or what about the sign that said “Jobber City this way” and then had an arrow pointing towards the ramp when the Royal Rumble match started? I gotta say, I had a pretty good laugh when I saw them both. Good stuff from Boston.Anyways, the Royal Rumble PPV is now in the ...

WWE Royal Rumble Results: Miz Retains WWE Championship

Posted by Gina Geatches On January - 31 - 2011
Last night at the Royal Rumble Miz successfully defended the WWE Championship against ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, with the help of the members of the new Nexus.  Miz won the championship on the November 22 episode of RAW after Orton successfully defended the belt against Wade Barrett. Orton challenged Miz for the championship at the PPV Tables, Ladders & Chairs but came up short. However, Orton got another shot at the championship at the Royal Rumble, again coming up short. The match seemingly clarifies WWE’s faith in the Miz by keeping the belt on him, however, making him retain the belt via ...

Zack Ryder: The Future of Pro Wrestling in the WWE

Posted by Joe Cwik On January - 31 - 2011
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:  I think Zack Ryder has the potential to become the future of professional wrestling.  I stated it on the FTW podcast, Episode 29 (http://theftwpodcast.com/ftw-episode-29), and I still stand behind that statement. Granted, I’ll take a ton of heat for that thought, but it’s one I don’t think I’ll back down from. Zack’s a younger guy, coming in at twenty-five years of age.  While a lot of people look at him and say, “Zack needs a good character and to learn more from the business”, well...  I think he has both, and you’re ...

WWE: Why I Think Dolph Ziggler Attacked Teddy Long

Posted by Rachel Miller On January - 31 - 2011
After watching SmackDown GM Teddy Long being taken to an ambulance on Friday Night SmackDown a couple weeks ago, I already knew who Long's assailant was. It was none other than Dolph Ziggler! Why I think that Ziggler was the man responsible for rendering Long unconscious was so that Ziggler can get his girlfriend Vickie Guerrero the GM job on a permanent basis. It was Guerrero who helped Ziggler win the Intercontinental Championship last August before dropping the title to Kofi Kingston earlier this year, as well as getting him an opportunity to win the World Heavyweight Championship against Edge at last night's ...

Squared Circle: WWE Royal Rumble 2011: Results and Review

Posted by Max Wake On January - 31 - 2011
As I mentioned in my predictions article, the Royal Rumble is my favourite PPV of the year. I personally find that the main event of 30 (in this year's case 40) men fighting for a spot at WrestleMania is usually a fast and furious match that is used to surprise fans and push wrestlers. It should be the best match of the night at the very least. The problem is that for the past two years the result has been somewhat predictable and has in many respects gotten the reputation for being a match to instantly push someone into the main ...

Booker T and Diesel Return to WWE: Do You Think That’s Good or Bad?

Posted by jonny cooney On January - 31 - 2011
For those of you who did not order The Royal Rumble or have not been updated on some major WWE news, then I will give you a quick recap of how Booker T and Diesel returned to the WWE. Both of their stays in the Rumble were pretty short, and that is naturally to be expected seeing as they have not been on main stream television in quite some time. I was shocked when I saw Nash. He looked so good: I always loved the whole "Diesel" angle, and I was shocked that the young WWE audience felt the same way. Kevin Nash ...
