Two days from now on Monday Night Raw, the WWE Draft will make its return. This is an exciting time in the WWE Universe every year and so far this year is no exception. The draft is a time where any superstar can be drafted to either Raw or Smackdown. Some superstars want to stay on their current brand while others want to be drafted. The five superstars on this slideshow NEED to be drafted whether they want to be or not. These five superstars have either run out of things to do on their show, become stale/boring or they ...

WWE Draft 2011: Do We Really Need It?

Posted by Daniel Massey On April - 23 - 2011
The draft was originally designed when the brand extension took place. It was an opportunity to capitalise on the fact they were treating the two shows, Raw and SmackDown, as different entities. This was due to the recent influx of talent caused by the acquisition of all its competition at the time—WCW and ECW. Each show took turns in deciding which superstar would appear exclusively on which brand. The first was in 2002 and it became an annual event from 2004, which coincidentally, is not long after the separate brands also hosted all pay-per-views barring the big four exclusively, dividing ...

WWE Draft 2011: 10 Potential Shockers for Monday Night Raw

Posted by Jeff Kayer On April - 23 - 2011
So here we are once again for the annual WWE Draft.  The 2011 event was rushed due to the sad and surprising announcement that Edge, a.k.a Adam Copeland, had to retire from active competition due to a debilitating spinal condition.  As a fan of Edge since his arrival to the WWE in the late 90's, I was very sad to see him go, but glad he had the intelligence to walk away.Edge's retirement is just the latest in a string of Superstars that have left the WWE in the past year.  Shawn Michaels retired, Batista left the organization to act, ...
As Monday's surprise draft approaches, the dominant online discourse revolves around SmackDown's apparent need for top calibre Superstars to enhance the quality of the "Blue Brand." The name making the rounds in the IWC as most likely to cross over, is that of "The Viper", Randy Orton. The majority of reports centre on the thought that SmackDown needs Randy Orton. This article will suggest that it is actually Randy Orton that would benefit from a move to SmackDown. Randy Orton is arguably the most over face in WWE today, with the majority of the crowd behind Orton every time he makes his ...

WWE Draft 2011: Bring Your A-Game or Go to the B-Show

Posted by Jeff D Gorman On April - 23 - 2011
Here are 10 things to watch at this Monday's WWE Draft:   1. John Cena and Randy Orton will both stay on Raw. Several mock drafts have Orton moving to Smackdown to keep the company’s two super babyfaces apart. However, WWE needs Orton to stay on Raw in case Cena gets hurt or is off shooting a movie.   2. John Morrison and R-Truth will also both stay on Raw. WWE devoted the first 30 minutes of the London Raw to R-Truth’s heel turn against Morrison. Both men need to stay on Raw so the fans can follow the feud. ...

WWE Draft 2011: How Zack Ryder Could Benefit From a Move To Smackdown

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA Mr. Tambourine Man On April - 23 - 2011
Zack Ryder has been with WWE for a few years now, but for the last year or so he has received little to no screen time on WWE television. When he first showed up in WWE he was part of a tag team with Curt Hawkins.  They went by the name The Major Brothers.  Their similar appearance and size made it convincing that these two could be brothers in real life.  They debuted on the now defunct ECW and won their first match.  The two men would find little success before being paired up with Edge to join his La Familia stable ...

WWE Draft 2011: Is John Cena Being Sent to the Minor Leagues?

Posted by Micheal Robinson On April - 23 - 2011
Let's face it, we all know Monday Night Raw is the superior brand. It's legendary, it has better ratings and most importantly, it's live.  And, it will play host to the WWE Draft in 2011 next week. Many wrestling fans, unless they're living under a large boulder, realize that SmackDown is taped on Tuesdays and aired on Friday night.I think it is crucial for the WWE to eventually make SmackDown a live show because it is killing the ratings.  If people read spoilers and don't watch the show, then of course, the ratings will drop. Not only that, it takes away from ...

WWE Draft 2011: 2 Ideas That Could Make It Exciting Once More

Posted by Craig Holland-Greenfield On April - 23 - 2011
With the amount of articles being written about the draft lately, I’ll be surprised if anyone who visits this site doesn’t know about it yet. If you don’t know about it, then the annual WWE draft is taking place this Monday, April 25. The draft has given us some surprises over the years, and some obvious choices. As said in my previous article, Randy Orton moving to SmackDown will surprise absolutely nobody. As with the rest of the goings on in and around the ring, the draft is a scripted affair with the choices being made beforehand. For me, this is a big issue ...

WWE SmackDown Review: April 22, 2011

Posted by Daniel Massey On April - 23 - 2011
Hey bleachers! Welcome once again to my weekly SmackDown review.  It’s coming once again from London, and just in case you were a bit dubious about this fact—the black cab, the bus and the big Union Jack should have put your mind at rest. Michael Cole was introduced as “Sir Michael Cole” and he walked down the ramp wearing his “royal robes.” I really hope he gets drafted off television all together. We were shown the World Heavyweight Championship, which was hanging above the ring for a reason I cannot fathom. Cody Rhodes was the first Superstar to cut a promo and was accompanied ...
