What TNA could learn from WCW and the Monday Night Wars

Posted by Jonathan Bach On July - 9 - 2011
Many people see potential in TNA and the product that it has been putting out for the past couple of years. But TNA has not lived up to all the hype. Sure they’ve signed a few big names here and there, but it isn’t enough to get people to draw their attention away from the WWE. WCW managed to expose the WWE and be a legitimate contender against them for a few years, even beating WWE Raw in the ratings for an extended period of time. And WCW did something pretty simple. They stuck with the direction that they were ...

WWE: How a Cruiserweight Title Could Elevate Younger Superstars

Posted by Aaron Tomlin On July - 9 - 2011
When I was a growing up in the 1990’s, my favorite wrestling program was WCW Monday Nitro.  I loved the excitement of seeing main eventers like Sting, Macho Man, Ric Flair, and Hulk Hogan. However, one of the most exciting parts of the program was the undercard. At that time World Championship Wrestling was showcasing cruiserweight talent like Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, Prince Iaukea, Eddie Guerrero, and Billy Kidman. These competitors lit up the screen with high-flying and technical maneuvers. The best part is, the WWE has enough depth in their roster to excite the WWE Universe in ...
I’ll admit it; I’m genuinely excited for tomorrow night’s TNA Destination X pay-per-view. In a rare month in which both major wrestling promotions are offering up intriguing PPV events, Destination X looks to be—on paper at least—an exciting show with some highly anticipated matches. It also marks the first time in several years that the annual event actually focuses on the X Division. Ever since the Hogan/Bischoff era of TNA began, longtime fans have felt slighted by the lack of focus on what was once the bread and butter of the company. For the past year and a half, the outcry for a ...

WWE Money in the Bank: Breaking Down the Build-Up (Parts 4-6 of 8)

Posted by David Conrad On July - 9 - 2011
All right, it's time to do this. After two weeks of house-hunting, a couple of personal matters and one eye problem later, I'm finally back to writing. But enough of that—it's time for a recap. Both ladder matches have been set, though I'm much more impressed with they way Smackdown is showing off its competitors. Good matches, decent booking and some great video packages have brought some attention to them. Raw, not so much. But they have done well to put over Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne and Alberto Del Rio above the rest, it seems. Serves them right, as ...
Every week, WWE does a little thing called the Power 25.WWE basically ranks the top 25 wrestlers at that time. My problem with it, is WWE basically chooses them based on wins and losses. So I have constructed my own little ranking called the Cool 25, in which I will rank my top 25 wrestlers every week.It will be based on wins/losses AND level of performance. And just to note, I will try to keep kayfabe as much as I can, but I may break it a couple times now or then.Photos courtesy of WWE.comBegin Slideshow
We all ask, what is the cause in which the reaction is taken? Why is it that we jump over inaccuracies because they are easier than the truth? We speculate instead of navigate. Is it that we are afraid of something being so far outside of its box that we bury it before it can breath the fresh air of success? No matter the coffin or how deep it's buried, those who wish to succeed and work for it shall reach success. Simply, we must try.It seems that over time, life hit fast for some Pro-Wrestling promotions.WWE and WCW were big back ...

The Thursday, July 7 edition of TNA Impact! Wrestling scored an overall cable rating of 1.11 with 1.6 million viewers.  However, looking into the numbers, TNA did not perform too badly for Spike TV.  As a matter of fact, TNA was ranked in the top 10 for overall viewers on cable television Thursday night.  Here's a look inside the numbers.Impact! WWE: Why the IWC’s Thoughts Surrounding PG Are Incorrect

Posted by Jake Steele On July - 9 - 2011
The WWE has been PG for a couple of years now, which has garnered a lot of heckling from "hardcore" fans due to its apparent over-caring for the kids, as well as "Super Cena" and foolish segments.Frankly, I don't see a problem with how the WWE is run right now, and I honestly don't know why the IWC feels different.Flash back to the "Golden Era," arguably one of the most revolutionary time periods in the history of the company—it had icons like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, and Ted DiBiase, and really thrust pro wrestling into the spotlight.Orchestrated by Vince McMahon, ...

CvC 2.o: It’s Time Once Again to Vote

Posted by Jacob Waring On July - 9 - 2011
The second round of this competition was very difficult for all the competitors. Their topics were on international pro wrestling, which was way out of everyone's comfort zones. However, everyone who wrote did an excellent job, and it'll be tough to vote. Now, the time has come to vote for the articles you thought were the best within each matchup. The same rules apply, voting will end at Sunday 12am, and the structure to cast your votes remains the same: Red: 1. 2. Blue: ...and so on, as this way shortens up the time for me to count votes! Also, ...
