WWE SummerSlam 2011 Match Predictions: Winners and Losers

Posted by Justin Watry On August - 13 - 2011
First, I have to be honest, this pay-per-view does not look like it will be worth $45. I am sorry, but I call it like I see it, and the main events are interesting, but I usually buy shows on all around cards. With that being said, let's get to the matches for this Sunday.... Wade vs. Bryan - This one should be fun; that is all I can say about it. When Daniel Bryan first said he was cashing in his MITB briefcase at WrestleMania 28, I thought (and still do) Wade would make a perfect opponent. Instead, we are ...

WWE: John Cena’s Character Is Slowly Fading Away in Todays WWE

Posted by Robert Knight On August - 13 - 2011
John Cena had been the face of the company for a long time.He has always been in the spotlight and main events for the titles. The majority of the IWC has hated him for it, because of his lack of move sets (five moves of doom), his predictability and the fact for a long time he has been a walking symbol for WWE's "PG-Era."Cena was someone the IWC looked at and saw how great he could be, if he could change up his style or turn heel. Cena himself is great on the mic, his personality is funny to be ...

Cody Rhodes: An Uncommon Son with an Uncommon Future

Posted by Tyson Jones On August - 13 - 2011
Last night, something tremendous happened. In what can only be called the single, greatest moment in the career of Cody Rhodes. In a match against Ezekiel Jackson, Cody Rhodes won his first singles championship, the Intercontinental Championship. In my opinion, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.Cody Rhodes, the son of World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, has come a long way since his debut in a loss to Randy Orton on RAW. He's had a very impressive career in his five years with WWE, winning several championships, and being one of the best in the ...
Time is ticking down to one of the top WWE pay-per view events of the year: SummerSlam 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the so-called “Biggest Event of the Summer.” Yes, there are several huge matches already in the works—your CM Punk vs. John Cena, your Christian vs. Randy Orton, your Kelly Kelly defending her pink Divas belt against Beth Phoenix—but a big part of the intrigue actually surrounds the matches that haven’t yet been announced. As of Saturday, according to WWE.com, there are only four matches—or five, according to other Internet rumors—that have been officially announced. Why ...

WWE SummerSlam 2011: Match Predictions, Odds and Preshow Analysis

Posted by Donald Wood On August - 13 - 2011
SummerSlam is the second biggest pay-per-view on the WWE calendar, and the card reflects that status. From top to bottom, this could be an epic event, and it all centers around the storyline with CM Punk and John Cena. With both men holding the WWE championship, the only fair way to settle the matter will a unification match, but there is a major twist. To keep all the participants in line and ensure the results are correct, new COO Triple H will be the special guest referee. If there was ever a time to be suspicious of Triple H’s intentions, ...

TNA, It’s Time to Get Hulk Hogan off of the Television Screen

Posted by Anthony Petronzio On August - 13 - 2011
Before I start off, let me acknowledge that this is not a hate article. I'm a huge TNA fan, and Impact Wrestling has brought viewers a great product recently, in my opinion. The X-Division is getting a major push, which is good. The BFG series has gotten my complete attention (which is also good), and I'm additionally loving the younger talent that TNA keeps pushing, like Crimson and Gunner. However, Impact does have its flaws. The one that most annoys me, and several other Impact fans, is the amount of TV time that Hulk Hogan gets. Some people don't know when to ...
WWE SummerSlam 2011 emanates from Los Angeles, CA, as part of a recent tradition started in 2009 to make the classic pay-per-view franchise a mainstay of the city of angels. This means the WWE's pay-per-view business will be going from one riot city to another with last month's critically acclaimed Money in the Bank pay-per-view held in Chicago. The pitbull-like anti-Cena contingent figures to be in half force, with California traditionally being just as much Cena country as it is hostile territory for the 11-time WWE Champion. With CM Punk and Cena both laying claim to WWE Championships, an ambiguous ending to RAW ...

WWE: Is John Morrison the Latest Superstar to Leave the WWE?

Posted by Cec Van Galini On August - 13 - 2011
In the season of hirings and firings, it would seem that no one is safe in the WWE. Superstars who were holding belts only a few months ago, are now holding their pink slips. Vladimir Kozlov had a promising career as a comedic sidekick to Santino Marella, Melina was one of the companies most exciting Divas and Chris Masters was seemingly getting more television time than he had ever had. And all three were released last week. Every year, these casualties exist. The need to freshen the roster and cut away the excess means that the WWE has acquired this now as annual tradition. And so it makes me ...

WWE SummerSlam 2011: Predicting the Biggest Show of the Summer

Posted by Kyle Schadler On August - 13 - 2011
WWE’s biggest show of the summer is upon us. To me, though, it doesn’t feel very big. SummerSlam is supposed to be WWE’s second biggest show but this year has fewer matches then recent Slams. Over the past ten years, the big summer show has seen between 6-10 matches. While this year it is currently at five, which isn’t necessarily bad but it’s a low number for such a big show. Why such a low number? I think it’s because of the WWE Title match. All the hype for the show has been behind Punk/Cena, and the other matches have ...

WWE SummerSlam 2011: Is Edge the Surprise Christian Promised Randy Orton?

Posted by John Nicolaides On August - 13 - 2011
In the closing moments of SmackDown, Christian announced to Randy Orton that he had the upper hand heading into their No Holds Barred match at this Sunday's SummerSlam.Christian stated that "I cannot wait for our No Holds Barred match because anything goes." From this we can assume Christian is referring to some sort of outside interference. The only person I can think of that, from a logical standpoint, could fit that role as Christian's surprise is Edge. Edge retired five months ago after watching his best friend Christian win his first ever world championship.Christian has been booked to appear weaker than ...
