The three-hour edition of Raw this week definitely had some memorable angles despite being an overall boring show. The supposed highlight of the show was John Cena coming off as afraid of Brock Lesnar. After Cena failed to appear at the scheduled contract signing, Lesnar gave the GM of Raw—Mr. John Laurinaitus—his demands as the "new face of the WWE."To sum it up in a ball, Lesnar wants to have partial control over the company, fly on Vince McMahon's private jet and he wants Monday Night Raw to be dubbed "Monday Night Raw Featuring Brock Lesnar."After Laurinaitus agreed to Lesnar's revisions, Cena ...

WWE News: Raw Rating Increases All Night for Three Hours

Posted by Justin Watry On April - 24 - 2012
Last night, WWE held a decent three-hour Monday Night Raw. I gave the show a C grade, as the entire WWE Universe gets closer and closer to Sunday's Extreme Rules event. However, it is now about the facts from last night. Opinions are great to have, but numbers don't lie. For a reminder, last Monday's Raw drew a stagnant 3.1 rating. This week, WWE saw a little bit of an increase. The first hour (special start time) of Raw drew 3,662,000 million viewers. The second hour (normal beginning) of Raw drew 4,671,000 million viewers. The third hour of Raw drew ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2012: Daniel Bryan Will Shine No Matter Who Wins

Posted by Donald Wood On April - 24 - 2012
With a 2-out-of-3 falls match highlighting what should be an absolutely mediocre Extreme Rules card, Daniel Bryan will prove that he is a serious star in the making against Sheamus. It doesn’t even matter if he wins or loses, Bryan will look strong in a match that has become his specialty. After getting jobbed to Sheamus on the biggest WWE stage in history at WrestleMania 28, it will be hard for Bryan to overcome that stigma. The WWE may be doing him a favor by playing into his style and expertise and allowing him to have a match that both men ...

WWE: How Did Daniel Bryan Become the Most Popular Heel Today?

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA The Doctor On April - 24 - 2012
When I first began watching wrestling, there seemed to be a general rule that you cheered for the good guys and booed the bad guys. Those days are over. In the last couple of decades we have seen a major shift in fan perception as wrestling has become an open book, thanks to the Internet. Now fans cheer for whoever they want instead of who is portraying the good guy, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Major faces like Randy Orton and Steve Austin started getting bigger pops than their baby-face opponents towards the end of their heel runs. ...
The WWE knows drama, and I think they sure did cook some up on last night’s Monday Night Raw. Actually giving the diva’s some attention for once, the creative team decided to pit Beth Phoenix against Nikki Bella with the Divas Championship on the line. In a lackluster match (if you ask me), Phoenix ended up hurting her ankle at some point during her loss, surrendering the title belt. On Twitter, she made it sound like the injury was rather serious:Thank you to everyone that helped me thru the airport this morning. Will keep every posted on MRI and xray ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2012: If CM Punk Loses, How Will Chicago Fans React?

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA The Doctor On April - 24 - 2012
This year's WWE Extreme Rules event takes place in Chicago, the home of WWE Champion CM Punk. In Chicago, Punk is a beloved hometown hero to many and those fans who support him are always very vocal about their appreciation for the straight-edge superstar. Even when Punk was playing the heel, he would still find support in the Windy City, and this Sunday's match against Chris Jericho should see him get the lion's share of the crowd support yet again. The big question on my mind is: What will happen if CM Punk loses? The odds of an all-out riot ...

WWE Raw Deal April 23: The Lesnar/Cena Contract Is Signed

Posted by John Canton On April - 24 - 2012
Live from Detroit, Michigan, this is the Raw Deal. This was written live on Monday night. The show starts with the Nickelback song as usual. No video package highlighting last week or anything else. I've noticed there are clips of Brock Lesnar in the video, so that's new. To start the show, Teddy Long was in the ring, and he introduced John Cena for the contract signing. When Brock Lesnar's music hit, John Laurinaitis showed up. He got mad at Long for doing this so early because Lesnar wasn't there yet. They advertised that it would be at the start ...
There is something about a PPV event that is less than a month removed from WrestleMania where feuds have not changed (at least most of them), and there is an undercurrent of disbelief among the wrestlers. Yes, I am talking about Extreme Rules coming up this weekend. Excuse me if I am not fully engulfed by the storylines, the drama and the plotlines that follow up WrestleMania 28. Few things in the professional wrestling could have topped what we saw at the beginning of the month. But while there are new faces (Brock Lesnar, Lord Tensai), this event feels rushed, ...
WWE is trying to tell us something with the way the John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar match has been built. There is a feeling of uneasiness surrounding the whole thing, yet there is only one outcome that makes sense at Extreme Rules. Lesnar has to go over Cena, by any means necessary. The problem with trying to figure out what will happen is the way WWE has presented the Lesnar-Cena story on television the last three weeks. Instead of telling us that Lesnar is a monster heel that will destroy anyone and everyone in his path, he has been built as someone ...
