Last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw did what every Raw should strive to do: start off hot.  Though the show gradually went downhill throughout the three hours (which didn’t feel all that special), I was intrigued by the remainder of Raw thanks to what we saw at the beginning.  John Cena came out at the start of Raw for what we thought was going to be the contract signing for his Extreme Rules match against Brock Lesnar.  After it was revealed that Lesnar wouldn’t arrive until later in the show, however, Edge’s music hit, completely out of nowhere. And ...
As I was watching the conclusion of last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw, my Twitter timeline was blowing up with fellow wrestling fans slamming Brock Lesnar for his promo that seemed to go on for like 37 minutes.  I defended Lesnar by saying that he was doing alright, but I got a ton of backlash for it. On second thought, I probably should have clarified that Brock was doing okay for Brock’s standards, but that’s neither here nor there.  Truth is, we all know that working the mic was never Lesnar’s strong point, which is why he was flanked ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2012: Why John Cena Needs to Crush Brock Lesnar

Posted by David Levin On April - 24 - 2012
Are we really seeing the demise of our fallen leader or was Monday night the start of something big for John Cena? He cannot lose again in a PPV event like Extreme Rules, can he? We all know the “Dream Match” with The Rock was one that left the WWE’s top face in a quandary and the look of bewilderment on his face proved that yes, grown, tough men sometimes need to be slapped in the face back to reality. It was great to see Edge back on television. But what if Cena loses again, and to of all people, ...

WWE Debate: Which WWE Star Needs to Switch Brands the Most?

Posted by Drake Oz On April - 24 - 2012
The 2012 WWE draft may happen, or it may not.  No one seems to know for sure one way or the other, and the WWE doesn’t seem too concerned with letting us know.  A lot of wrestling fans don’t care if the draft takes place because “the brand extension doesn’t matter anymore,” but while it doesn’t matter quite as much as it once did, there’s still a need to have some superstars swap brands.  If there isn’t going to be a 2012 WWE draft, though, then the creative team is still going to have to find a way to flip-flop ...

WWE Extreme Rules 2012: Does The Miz Need the U.S. Championship?

Posted by Shane Combs On April - 24 - 2012
On WWE Monday Night Raw, I saw something in the crowd that I thought I recognized. In the front row, a guy rocked a T-shirt with a giant name tag on it. The camera was too far away to read the shirt, but I knew it looked familiar. It was, of course, a Miz T-shirt, but my mind didn’t recognize it right away. I had to ask myself, "Whose shirt is that again?"I shouldn’t have to remind myself who The Miz is.I want to be clear: I was the guy who refused to become hysterical when The Miz started losing last ...
So long, WrestleMania. It's time for Extreme Rules. The WWE will head to Chicago this Sunday for the annual Extreme Rules pay-per-view, the first post-WrestleMania PPV of 2012.In all likelihood, we'll see the conclusion of a number of WrestleMania feuds on Sunday, as well as the start of some new rivalries. As we draw ever so close to the PPV, though, it's pretty clear that some guys on the show's card are moving in the right direction while others are really struggling.Today, we're going to take a look at who's doing what with a breakdown of all the Extreme Rules competitors. Here is ...

WWE Raw Results: Top 15 Moments from Last Night’s Show

Posted by Justin Watry On April - 24 - 2012
Extreme Rules is this Sunday night! Being a paying customer, I really felt like WWE needed to deliver a great Raw show last night. They had a few nice moments, but the Red Brand disappointed. It was still a solid (C grade) episode of Raw, but nothing really made me pumped for Sunday night. What were the highlights? Let's discuss...Begin Slideshow
It has been announced last night on Raw that United States Champion Santino Marella will defend his title against former WWE Champion, The Miz, who is a two-time former U.S. Champ himself. This will be a pre-show bonus match featured exclusively on the YouTube channel and should prepare the WWE Universe well for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.Since winning the general manager's battle at WrestleMania XXVIII, The Miz is now destined for more greatness in this company but he must make it happen step by step. His title match on Sunday is step one in a long project I have foreseen for ...
It was just one short year ago where the Miz appeared to be on the precipice of immortality.  During his now-forgettable run as WWE champion, the only WWE superstar whose exposure to the outside media was comparable to that of Mike "The Miz" Mizanin was John Cena. With his background/stigma as a reality TV star now well behind him, and in many ways assisting him on his relentless godwill tours for the WWE, the Miz was set to be cemented as a top superstar as he prepared to face John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania XXVII. Unfortunately, Miz's career may ...

WWE: ‘You Know It’s Fake, Right?’

Posted by Mike Berlinski On April - 21 - 2012
Wrestling fans have heard that line for as far back as they can remember. The dreaded F-word!For me, I found out pro wrestling was "fake" many years ago, at a Madison Square Garden card, which featured Hulk Hogan vs. Big John Studd.Studd had Hogan locked up in a bear hug maneuver, and I was close enough to the action that I could see Hogan and Studd talking to each other. Being around five years old at the time, I thought Hogan was saying things like "Brother, I'm gonna break free and take you out dude!" I imagined Studd was replying ...
