WWE: Why Three-Hour Raw Will Burn out the WWE Universe

Posted by Giulio Romano On May - 29 - 2012
Monday Night Raw has been around for decades. It will soon celebrate a milestone 1000th episode in July, and Vince McMahon recently announced that the company is going through with its plan to expand the flagship show from two hours to three every week. This is indeed big news. However, big news isn't always good news. For the longest time, WWE has had quite a rough time making Raw interesting. There have been some good spots, but on average the show rarely passes the 3.2 mark in the ratings compared to some great times in the past.Though I commend company officials' efforts ...

WWE: Monday Night Raw Is Just as Good Without John Cena

Posted by Dustin Murrell On May - 29 - 2012
After the obligatory shout out to the troops for Memorial Day, we were "treated" to a recap of the John Cena/John Laurinaitis/Big Show drama. During the opening live segment, Cena was one of the many superstars The Big Show named when he went through the list of peers he felt had betrayed him. Towards the end of the show, we watched a pre-recorded message from the leader of the Cenation addressing the holiday. Whenever the announcers on Raw say that a wrestler isn't here for the evening, you never have to believe them. So whether or not they brought up ...

WWE: 5 TNA Stars Who Could Make an Impact If They Jumped Ship

Posted by George Cushnie On May - 29 - 2012
Right now, there's a staleness about the WWE roster. Most of the names there already have feuded with each other, so it generally means WWE has to refresh old feuds. There's no better way to highlight that than by looking at the main event of the next PPV, No Way Out. We're going to see a feud between John Cena and the Big Show for what seems like the 938th time. This is just fantasy on my part, but I'm going to look at some stars from TNA Wrestling who could make an impact in WWE if they jumped ship.Begin Slideshow
When thinking of countdowns, many fans automatically go to Chris Jericho's infamous countdown for his WWE entrance. However, now that Jericho is suspended, there is a new countdown: the countdown until the end of his suspension.Jericho started this on Twitter over the weekend, and it's continued on today. In classic Jericho fashion, the countdown his informative with a bit of humor added.   27-My Dads number when he played in the NHL. Also my ranking in the top 50 WCW superstars of all time. Also today's date.— Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) May 27, 2012     Day 26 is an R&B group formed by ...

WWE Botch of the Week: Burying 3 Titleholders on 1 Raw Show

Posted by Drake Oz On May - 29 - 2012
Titles in pro wrestling don’t mean nearly as much as they once did.  While the WWE has done a decent job of trying to change this as of late, the ridiculous number of short title reigns is the arguably biggest factor in killing the prestige of the company’s championships. I say “arguably” the biggest because the actual biggest might simply be how WWE titleholders are often turned into jobbers.  Just look at last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw as proof. The main event match was scheduled to be Brodus Clay vs. The Big Show, but before it could get ...

WWE Raw: Is the Main Event Role Too Large for Big Show?

Posted by Shane Combs On May - 29 - 2012
On WWE Raw, Big Show kicked off the program and, I’m guessing, closed it against Brodus Clay. I say I’m guessing because I did not finish watching the program.I can at least say he was the main event of the show. Now raise your hands if you thought, while watching John Cena versus the Rock, that two months later the main event scene would be John Laurinaitis and Big Show.No takers? Then raise your hands if, while watching John Cena versus Brock Lesnar, you thought that one month later the main event scene would be John Laurinaitis and Big Show. Now that all honest ...
Last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw was yet another lackluster effort by the WWE, a show that had only a couple of bright spots outside of CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan.  Even that great match suffered because of Kane’s continued involvement in the feud, which I find to be completely unnecessary.  So, given the lack of excitement on this show, it wasn't very difficult for me to decide what my favorite storyline of the week would be: The start of the breakup between Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.  Ziggler and Swagger have been united together under the services of ...

WWE: Will Kelly Kelly Ever Return to Prominence in the Divas Division?

Posted by Sharon Glencross On May - 29 - 2012
As we head into the summer, WWE diva Kelly Kelly finds her once-promising career in an extremely precarious position. While the former Divas Champion remains popular with the fans (even ranking highly in this year's Maxim's Hot 100 list), she is often over-looked and marginalized by the booking team, only making sporadic appearances on Raw and pay-per-views.  A potentially-promising storyline with Eve Torres was hinted at a few times on television earlier this year, with an outraged Kelly repeatedly voicing her disgust about her former friend's despicable behavior. Ultimately though, no program ever emerged from this, with the company swiftly moving Eve on to other things.   Indeed, the only time the time ...

WWE Raw Results: Top 15 Moments from Last Night’s Show (5/28)

Posted by Justin Watry On May - 29 - 2012
Raw was a much better show this week around. Last week just had no energy at all, outside of a few segments after Over the Limit. The Red brand delivered a solid effort on a holiday edition of Raw.While the television rating will likely be down because of that, I give credit to WWE for not taking the week off. They could have easily done nothing major, but they entertained (B grade) for two hours. What were the highlights? Let's find out!Begin Slideshow
