WWE: 5 Questions After Friday Night SmackDown

Posted by Chris Featherstone On June - 30 - 2012
WWE Friday Night SmackDown helped shape the way the Money in the Bank pay-per-view  will look just two weeks from now, on July 15.We saw first-time opportunities, a GM for Raw and SmackDown next week and a special guest referee for the WWE Championship match at MITB.In spite of this, the show left us with some pending questions. Are we supposed to forget about recycled music?I've mentioned this a number of times on my Pancakes and Powerslams wrestling talk show: to be a credible Babyface Divas champion, Layla desperately needs a new theme song. That wish was granted, but with a ...

WWE Money in the Bank 2012: Ranking Every Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA The Doctor On June - 30 - 2012
WWE returns with Money in the Bank on July 15 and so far the responses to the participants announced for the two attraction matches have been mixed. The Raw (or WWE title) MITB match has Big Show, Kane, Chris Jericho and John Cena as the participants thus far. SmackDown has put Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, Santino Marella, Tensai and Christian into the match for the World Heavyweight title shot. The superstars in each match certainly seem to indicate a certain trend. Raw has all established main event stars while SmackDown has up-and-coming stars, with the exception of the veteran Christian ...
For the past month, TNA has taken Impact Wrestling from a taped to a live show environment in a direction that has been receiving praise from fans. However, over the course of its Summer Series Bash, TNA has yet to put a single dent in the ratings department. How is that so? Impact Wrestling has been a very solid product, sometimes or most times outshining what the WWE is producing. It has answered its fans by taking Impact live over being taped. Could it be the new time slot change or tough Thursday night television competition? Whatever the reason may be to blame, TNA has shined with ...
Here comes The Game.See what I did there?  It comes naturally, what can I say? That’s right, folks, WWE SummerSlam is right around the corner.  Well, not really, it’s actually on Aug. 19, but you get the point, right? But, it could not come fast enough, am I right, huh?  Huh?  Judging from the uncertainty on some of your faces, I would daresay that perhaps this is not exactly the dream match that the whole world has been waiting to see.  At this point, I would venture to say that no one has been waiting to see it.  And, why is that, ...

The 6 WWE Legends Who Have Gone Stale

Posted by Jacob Rachwal On June - 30 - 2012
The WWE has a number of former stars that appear on special events and they are collectively known as “Legends.” These former superstars appear on WWE television for big events and are often involved in comedy routines. Unfortunately, some of these stars have become overexposed and no longer carry the aura that they once did. I go as far as saying that they have become stale. Before we begin, I want to clarify that I am a fan of all of these people; but unfortunately, they have been poorly used by the WWE. This has caused their characters to become ...

The Doctor’s WWE SmackDown Recap: The 124 Things We Learned, Loved and Hated

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA The Doctor On June - 30 - 2012
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to my weekly SmackDown recap list. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, each week I recap SmackDown with a long list. The entries are made up of equal parts observations, humor, recap, play-by-play, revelations, speculations, questions, answers and anything else I notice during the show. I sometimes comment on commercials, too, just because I get bored during them. I try and interject some fun into these lists, so I hope you have fun reading this week's list of the 124 things we learned, loved and hated from the ...
I'm sure you guys have heard the whispers. The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar.Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock. John Cena vs. The Rock II, with the WWE Championship on the line.CM Punk vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. It seems like everyone on the Internet has an opinion as to how WWE can match or even improve upon WrestleMania 28.This is understandable when you consider that we knew the WrestleMania 28 main event less than 24 hours after WrestleMania 27 went off the air.How does WWE plan on topping this year's event? It won't be easy. After all, WrestleMania 28 did have a lot to offer. The ...

WWE SmackDown: Sheamus Retains, Money in the Bank Qualifiers and More

Layla vs. A.J. Layla picked up the victory with a rollup after A.J. was distracted by Daniel Bryan chanting "yes" around the ring. I was very surprised to see the Divas open SmackDown; I can't remember the last time they were given an important spot on any show. The match itself was a good one. Both A.J. and Layla performed well in the ring here and delivered the best Divas match Raw or SmackDown has seen in quite some time. A.J. showed here that she can wrestle. She's more than just a crazy person, she's a wrestler. Layla has been ...

Dolph Ziggler: Could He Get Lost in Ric Flair’s Shadow?

Posted by Tony Dolemite On June - 29 - 2012
Rumors about Ric Flair coming back to the WWE have been going strong lately. Anything is possible, so it wouldn't surprise me if Flair did return to the company before the end of the year. If he does return, you have to wonder in what capacity. Many have talked about the possibility of Flair managing current superstar Dolph Ziggler. Would Flair be a good fit for Ziggler or would he overshadow Ziggler?Ric Flair is the greatest of all time. He still commands respect despite personal issues that have plagued him over the years. Having Flair as a manager would be ...
The Money in the Bank briefcase is usually a symbol of hope for mid-card superstars hoping to make the next step in the WWE by jumping into the main event picture. This year—so far—it is pretty much a who's who of the main event scene. In previous years, we have seen many different Superstars win this match and get into the title picture. The cash-ins were sometimes sneaky or opportunistic, but they were all successful. Here are the Top (and only, actually) 10 Money in the Bank Cash-ins.Begin Slideshow
