WWE RAW (7/30): CM Punk, Highlights and Final Thoughts

Posted by Pedro Suarez On July - 31 - 2012
In the aftermath of WWE RAW's entertaining 1,000th episode, there has been much speculation about the company's ability to maintain the momentum.Considering that the show has now expanded to a three-hour format, there was also concern over how WWE would be able to manage the time effectively. One of the major ongoing concerns has been over the amount of time WWE devotes to promotions and recaps.I personally think it is a waste of time to complain about this issue.  From a business standpoint, it is common practice to use media platforms to push your own products. Pick up a newspaper or ...

5 Trades of Talent Between WWE and TNA

Posted by Justin LaBar On July - 31 - 2012
Today is the trade deadline in Major League Baseball.Imagine if professional wrestling had a different landscape and the companies did out-front trades with each other. Just as in professional sports, the contracts would carry over and there is no claim to intellectual property when trading. When a talent gets traded, their name and gimmick gets traded to the company as well.I thought it would be fun to think about possible trades between WWE and TNA. Again, this is just for fun so don't over-analyze anything.I am going into this trade deadline period with the situation of WWE has higher-paid contracts. ...

WWE Raw 1001: Chaos, Confusion, Calamity and Comebacks

Posted by Chris Featherstone On July - 31 - 2012
WWE Raw 1001 was an unsuccessful attempt to continue the steam that developed from the previous episode. While this is most likely due to all of last week's guest appearances, it still had something to work with to make this first regular three hour edition a stand-out.Here are some of the issues that made this episode lackluster:Begin Slideshow

8 WWE Superstars We’d Want to Have a Drink With

Posted by Nick Houser On July - 31 - 2012
For WWE fans 21 and over, there wouldn't be a better fan experience than to grab a drink with a WWE superstar. No matter who the superstar is—John Cena on down to Michael McGillicutty—it would be pretty awesome. Of course, top talent and legends would be incredible and much more brag-worthy. Imagine this: You walk into an empty dive bar and parked on a stool is none other than a WWE superstar. He is unbothered and alone. You two are basically the only people in the place, so he motions for you to come over and take a seat. Or ...
This July 30 edition of Monday Night Raw was a big test for the WWE as it is sticking around with a permanent three-hour format for its flagship show. Even though the show had more time for wrestling matches, some of it felt very dragged out. Although I felt Raw put on a better product than in past editions, the show in its new three hour time slot felt too long to watch as a viewer. Raw displayed lots of video packages and recaps of what went on throughout the night. There was only one match in the first hour alone. ...
How hot is WWE right now? It is so hot that it is actually causing fires to breakout in the arena where Raw is taking place. Thankfully it wasn't serious and no one was hurt, which is why we are able to joke about it now. As far as the first three-hour show without all the stars of years gone by, it was about what many of us expected it to be. There were good moments, but at three hours it was way too long with spots that dragged on forever. It didn't help that the final segment, with Big Show and ...

WWE Raw Goes Three-Hours: Where Have the Divas Disappeared To?

Posted by Giulio Romano On July - 31 - 2012
Raw is three hours long! They say you can never get enough of a good thing. That is, until it stops being good.On that note, where were the beautiful ladies of WWE last night? AJ was there and so was Rosa, but what about Layla, the current Divas Champion? With SummerSlam right around the corner, it is imperative to start planning some sort of angle or story heading into the big summer extravaganza.I am still in shock about Kharma's sudden release. Whether voluntary or not, it is a huge blow to the division as so many of the WWE Universe were counting ...

Raw Set Fire and 5 Other Technical Issues at Live Events

Posted by C.I.M On July - 31 - 2012
For those of you that missed it, the WWE Raw set caught fire moments prior to the live show.WWE.com released the following statement regarding the incident:During rehearsal for tonight’s Monday Night Raw at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, there was a minor incident involving the show’s pyrotechnics.  As a precaution, the limited number of people in the building during the incident were successfully evacuated, and the fire marshal has given a safety clearance for the show to proceed as scheduled at 8/7pm CT  (WATCH: THE CROWD FILES IN). There were no injuries.Keep in mind, ...
WrestleMania 29 could be even bigger than WrestleMania 28 if WWE pits John Cena against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.  The potential dream match as it stands now, though, is just wishful thinking. Austin is not guaranteed to even be at WrestleMania 29 and could be taking on CM Punk rather than Cena. WWE's creative plans are constantly in flux, and any that involve the Texas Rattlesnake have to be approached with a wait-and-see attitude.  As long as Austin is able to walk, there will be speculation about him returning for one more match.  He represents WWE's highest point. He helps ...

WWE: 10 Reasons Why the Attitude Era Will Never Be Matched

Posted by Drake Oz On July - 31 - 2012
Ask a handful of wrestling fans what the best period in wrestling history was.The most common answer? I guarantee that it will be the Attitude Era, and with good reason. While each wrestling era has had its pros and cons, the Attitude Era provided the fans with some never-before-seen programming that is still talked about more than a decade after it ended. Some fans will always prefer the type of wrestling programming we got in the 1980s and early 1990s or during the Ruthless Aggression Era of the early-to-mid 2000s.But no matter what your preference is, it's hard to deny that no ...
