In a recent Twitter posting, WWE legend Mick Foley seeks to squash the long-running rumors that there is tension between him and Triple H, as well as any claims that he is not currently happy in his role with the company. Foley denies the frequent stories that he has problems with WWE's COO, and also notes that he is more than happy with his current role (Foley rarely appears on television, but is heavily utilized by the company in various outside-the-ring projects and promotional tours). Foley writes:   Can I clear up this rumor about me not getting along with Triple H? Triple H is the man responsible for ...

WWE: Why AJ Lee Has Thus Far Done Well as Raw’s General Manager

Posted by Mike Chiari On August - 28 - 2012
One of the biggest talking points in the WWE right now is Raw general manager AJ Lee and whether or not she has been effective in her new role. Some believe that she has been terrible as an on-screen authority figure, but I feel like her performance has been just fine thus far.If the WWE were looking for a boisterous, strong-willed GM for Raw, then it would have put someone like Paul Heyman in the spot, but that obviously wasn't the goal. The writers clearly wanted a figurehead of sorts who would make decisions without getting too heavily involved in ...

WWE: Why CM Punk and Daniel Bryan Are the True Future of the WWE

Posted by Daine Pavloski On August - 28 - 2012
The WWE has made a habit of bringing back old Superstars to beef up shows and make huge, one-night epic matches and encounters recently, allowing the WWE Universe to take it's mind off of something far more interesting than Brock Lesnar coming back for a few nights; the future of the business. While old, proven Superstars are great, I'm more interested in what will happen after they're too old for one-and-done comebacks. What happens when the Rock, HHH, Brock Lesnar and Undertaker can't go any more? With an aging upper echelon in the business, where will the WWE go from here? For ...

WWE: Potential Brock Lesnar/Triple H WrestleMania Match a Disappointment

Posted by Rich Kraetsch On August - 28 - 2012
I guess we should have seen this coming. I suppose we all just had more hope. Dave Meltzer reported on his Wrestling Observer Live podcast that Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H is the plan for WrestleMania 29. For those scoring at home, the rumored Lesnar vs. Undertaker or Lesnar vs. The Rock matches are no more, instead we are getting a SummerSlam rematch. Obviously, this is still a rumor and Meltzer made sure to mention it was only in the plans, but I cannot help but be extremely disappointed by this development. Lesnar’s latest stint in the WWE has been ...

WWE Night of Champions 2012: Ranking the Credibility of Every Champion

Posted by Michael Prunka On August - 28 - 2012
Since 2007, Night of Champions has been the one annual pay-per-view in which every championship in the WWE is defended. This year's event will be no different.Come September 16, no champion will be exempt from defending his or her title. CM Punk's nine-month reign as WWE Champion will once again be tested, while newly-crowned United States Champion Antonio Cesaro will find himself in his first PPV title defense. As Night of Champions quickly approaches, let's take a look and rank the legitimacy of every champion in the WWE.Begin Slideshow
RAW general manager AJ Lee flexed her executive muscle on Monday night as she named John Cena the No. 1 contender for CM Punk's WWE Championship at Night of Champions. Cena and Punk faced off twice in pay-per-view matches last summer, but things simply feel different this time. The majority of fans seem to be excited for the match and the feud as a whole, but there are always going to be contrarians with differing opinions. Some might even call this Punk vs. Cena feud lazy booking since it is a reprisal of something that worked a year ago, but I ...

WWE: What Does the Future Hold for Randy Orton?

Posted by Sharon Glencross On August - 28 - 2012
One thing is for sure: Randy Orton has had a difficult 2012. First of all, he missed time at the beginning of the year due a back injury. Upon his return, he then entered into a mediocre grudge feud with Kane, which saw the two have a dull, plodding match at WrestleMania 28. He was then given the lead role in The Marine: Homefront, the third instalment of WWE’s military-themed movie franchise. Alas, he was dropped from the role soon after the United States Marine Corps complained that Orton’s real-life dishonourable discharge from the USMC in 1999 rendered him unfit for the role. He ...

WWE Monday Night Raw, August 27: Analysis and Aftermath

Posted by Graham 'GSM' Matthews On August - 28 - 2012
On WWE Raw's final edition in the month of August, WWE presented yet another three-hour extravaganza filled with progression of story-lines, comedic filler and build for the Night of Champions pay-per-view. Although the show wasn't all that great this week, there were still a handful of highlights to keep this viewer somewhat satisfied. Here, I will analyze each significant segment presented on the show. I will also provide a combination of aftermath and wishful thinking about what I hope to see in the coming weeks. Jerry Lawler calls out WWE Champion CM PunkStrong opening segment featuring Jerry Lawler and WWE Champion CM Punk. Both guys played ...

WWE: Why Zack Ryder Deserves More Than He’s Getting

Posted by Luis Campos On August - 28 - 2012
In 2011, Zack Ryder proved what until then had been considered an unlikely feat—it was possible to get over with fans without getting a push from the WWE.Rather than accepting his position on the WWE's roster, Ryder—a lower-card talent—took to the Internet and began his YouTube show, Z! True Long Island Story. The show made him immensely popular among pro wrestling fans, but unfortunately for Ryder, the WWE was less than happy with the Long Island Iced Z's source of popularity—at least that's the way things seemed. Despite the fact that fans cheered for Zack Ryder during live events and ...

WWE Should Allow Heel Characters to Win Consistently

Posted by Cardiff Wanderer On August - 28 - 2012
One of the biggest criticisms that the WWE faced in the run up to Raw 1000 was the domination of faces on television. At that time every champion was a good guy and 90 percent of matches were being won by crowd favourites to hide the fact that the company had put themselves in a holding position until the gala event came around. The natural assumption of optimistic fans was that the battle between good and evil would re-emerge after Raw 1000, yet this has not re-established itself at any consistent level. Just look at Raw (08/27) where there was ...
