WWE: Five Gimmicks That Should Exist (And Who Should Have Them)

Posted by James Grube On August - 25 - 2012
In recent months, there seems to have been a small but noticeable resurgence in the idea of proper gimmicks.  For a long time, it seemed the undercard drifted along with no defined characters, no interesting roles, nothing remarkable to speak of.Now we have the Funkasaurus, the Intellectual Savior, the Most Interesting Rugby Player In The World and the Sin City Carnivore.  But there’s still a gap.  There’s still a glut of wrestlers floating around on the roster who lack direction, who lack a strong character, or perhaps have been saddled with a terrible one. Creativity is always subjective, and I ...

WWE SmackDown, August 24: GSM’s Analysis and Aftermath

Posted by Graham 'GSM' Matthews On August - 25 - 2012
With the historic SummerSlam in the books, the subsequent SmackDown featured all the fallout from the summer spectacle, including Divas action, shocking finishes and a foreshadowing of feuds. As Night of Champions nears, a new No. 1 contender was named to Sheamus' World Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Here, I will analyze each significant segment presented on the show. I will also provide a combination of aftermath and wishful thinking about what I hope to see in coming weeks. Opening SegmentDecent opening segment featuring SmackDown general manager Booker T, Alberto Del Rio, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Randy Orton. We've been seeing the same people ...
Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio has been one of the worst feuds of 2012. Yes I did say it and I will stand by that statement. I haven't been more disgusted with the product that the WWE has offered to the fans than with with this feud for the richest prize in the company.Sure, some fans will say that this feud has been OK, but I believe that Del Rio versus Sheamus has been an epic failure since it began in May, and it continues to be a snooze fest that fans do not care about. The world title should ...

13 Superstars Who Should Have Been Included in the Full Roster in WWE 13

Posted by Chris Mueller AKA The Doctor On August - 25 - 2012
WWE 13 is set to be WWE's biggest video game release to date, with a heavy emphasis being put on the Attitude Era throughout the game. The aAttitude Era was a time in WWE where it seemed an "anything goes" mentality was adopted by just about everyone in charge. This period helped WWE surge past WCW in the Monday Night Wars and win the ratings battle for supremacy, and ultimately put their competition in their own back pocket. This era is often defined by names like The Rock, Steve Austin and Mick Foley—all of which are included in the game. ...

Posted by Daniel Peragine On August - 25 - 2012
The Friday, Aug. 24 edition of WWE SmackDown opens with Randy Orton being introduced to the ring. Orton begins to talk about Alberto Del Rio and how he should mind his own business. Orton calls out anyone from the backstage area to the ring to confront his comments on why he should face Sheamus for the WWE Heavyweight Title.Sheamus comes out and heads straight for the ring. He grabs a microphone and says Orton should indeed face him for his title. SmackDown General Manager Booker T interrupts and heads to the ring. Quickly, an angry Alberto Del Rio comes out. CM Punk and the Top 7 Must-Watch Heels in WWE

Posted by Tom Clark On August - 25 - 2012
Love me some heels.Call me biased.  Call me partial.  Call me what you will.  But, the truth is, heels can be not only the most entertaining Superstars in WWE, but they can also be the most fun. Then there's the fact that I spent much of my time in the business as a heel manager, so you could say that has perhaps influenced my opinion.Right now, arguably the biggest heel in WWE is the man who, ironically enough, is not considered a heel by many fans.  WWE Champion CM Punk began his highly debated turn on the 1000th episode of Raw ...

WWE News: Reviews, Analysis and Rumors for Week of Aug. 19

Posted by Mike Chiari On August - 25 - 2012
Although SummerSlam may not have been as impactful as many fans were hoping, plenty took place on Sunday night as well as on Monday during the aftermath. It appears as though several major storylines have been set in motion and they figure to play out in the weeks and months ahead. There was a lot of movement on the CM Punk vs. John Cena front, as well as the rivalry between Triple H and Brock Lesnar. I wouldn't say that anything shocking happened with regards to either situation at SummerSlam, but both of them are far from over.In addition to that, ...

WWE: How the Neglected US Title Can Become Relevant Again

Posted by Pavitar Sidhu On August - 25 - 2012
The WWE United States Heavyweight Championship has been neglected pretty badly, but it doesn't have to be. Some pretty legendary names have held the WWE United States Heavyweight Championship. Terry Funk. Ric Flair. Ricky Steamboat. Harley Race. Jimmy Snuka. Greg Valentine. Roddy Piper. Wahoo McDaniel. Magnum TA. Tully Blanchard. Dusty Rhodes. These wrestlers, and a ton of other greats, have held this belt. For wrestling fans who only know about the title's history over the last couple of years, they have no idea just how important this title belt used to be. But by looking over ...
