WWE vs. TNA: Who’s Been Better This Week? (Feb. 17-23, 2013)

Posted by Jonathan Bones On February - 23 - 2013
Hello, multifarious wrestling connoisseurs, and welcome to the latest in my WWE vs. TNA series, in which every week I recap and review the main output of both promotions and pick the best. This week the WWE had its last pay-per-view before WrestleMania (and one of my personal favourite concepts): the Elimination Chamber. Meanwhile, TNA Impact again came from my own United Kingdom. This article marks a slight break with the usual format of this series, as I'll also be devoting a slide to covering a hot button issue raised in the comments of last week's edition.Let's get underway.Begin Slideshow

Is Jack Swagger Worth Pushing After Recent Arrest and Character Controversy?

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On February - 23 - 2013
It didn't take long for Jack Swagger to stir up controversy with his new gimmick after returning a few weeks ago, but now it appears as if he is seeing a different kind of attention.Swagger was arrested for a DUI and marijuana possession recently, which does not bode well for the man who just earned his chance at a World title shot at WrestleMania.Unless WWE sees this as a reason to remove him from the match, the question turns into whether or not Swagger is worth pushing after the recent controversy. Character ControversyWWE was recently criticized by those who claim the ...

WWE’s Ricardo Rodriguez Taunts Glenn Beck on Twitter

Posted by Travis Taylor On February - 23 - 2013
It seems the war of words between the WWE and Glenn Beck is nowhere near being done. Despite Beck turning down the WWE's offer to appear on Raw, Vince and company continue to push the topic. Ricardo Rodriguez, the personal ring announcer for WWE World champion Alberto Del Rio, has taken to Twitter to try to keep the pressure on Beck to appear. He posted the following on his personal Twitter account: Glen Beck said what? Huevos! Doesn't he have to go cry about some stupid post? I have some Vicks if you need it, SEÑOR! — Ricardo Rodriguez(@RRWWE) February ...

WWE Power Rankings: Week of February 18

Posted by Erik Beaston On February - 23 - 2013
Weekly power rankings have long been the favorite of sports fans. They rank the top players or teams over a seven-day period and then look at the upcoming week for them.Professional wrestling is no different. Fans enjoy looking at the weekly rankings to see where their favorite Superstar landed and arguing the position of a certain wrestler compared to that of another.WWE power rankings have been absent from Bleacher Report for a while now and, with WrestleMania 29 only six weeks away, there is no better time to reintroduce them than now. Rankings will be determined based on a Superstar, ...
When Glenn Beck made his comments about the WWE, I thought here is a guy who doesn't get it. Then, I saw his response to their invitation to come on Raw, and I thought this guy really doesn't get it.Mr. Beck, WWE inviting you to come on Monday Night Raw is charity. It should be right below the number of wishes John Cena has granted on WWE's charity press release.I thought Beck was on to something for a minute. I thought having a lengthy rant ripping WWE for the Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter characters was the start of a ...
Political shock jock Glenn Beck trolled the headlines this past week by virtually criticizing the WWE for being an entertainment company. Beck—a noted nut job and real-life political extremist—took exception to the character of Zeb Colter, who is a Tea Party extremist in his own right.Beck dismissed Colter and the WWE on his radio show as "stupid wrestling people."  There is a sweet irony in Beck's strife with the WWE.  The Colter character is a satire on noisy, right-wing commentators like Beck who are driven by shock value.  Yet even as a hyperbole, Colter doesn't hold a candle to how ...

WWE Superstar Damien Sandow Has the Perfect Gimmick To Succeed

Posted by Bob Garman On February - 23 - 2013
In today's WWE, having elite in-ring skills doesn't make you a top star. For example, few members of the current roster can match Tyson Kidd's mat ability, but Kidd, even before his recent knee injury, found himself below many lesser wrestlers on the WWE ladder. What Kidd, and guys like him, are missing is a connection with the fans. In order to get over with the WWE Universe, a superstar has to have a good gimmick. Without a gimmick, a great wrestler can become mired in the midcard forever. In today's WWE, there are a few guys with top-notch gimmicks. ...

Matches That Could Headline WrestleMania XXX

Posted by Daniel Van Boom On February - 23 - 2013
We all know how big WrestleMania XXIX will be, but WrestleMania XXX has to be the biggest ever. As reported here on Bleacher Report (via Wrestling Observer Newsletter), creative have already begun thinking about who will headline next year’s Showcase of the Immortals. The idea of Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock, a dream match for many, has apparently been discussed as the show’s main event. However, the WWE is dynamic to say the least, so expect many changes in plan between now and then. The main event of WWE's biggest ever event would need to feature stars who ...

The Doctor’s WWE Main Event/SmackDown Recap: Things We Learned, Loved and Hated

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On February - 23 - 2013
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to my weekly Main Event and SmackDown recap list. I always appreciate my loyal readers, but for those of you who are new, each week I recap SmackDown with a long list. The entries are made up of equal parts observations, humor, recap, play-by-play, revelations, speculations, questions, answers and anything else I notice during the show. I sometimes comment on commercials, too, just because I get bored during them. I try to interject some fun into these lists, so I hope you have fun reading this week's list of the things we learned, loved and hated from the ...
