WWE 13 Matches on YouTube We’d Love to See in Real Life

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On April - 29 - 2013
Last October, WWE 13 gave fans the chance to create dream matches aplenty. It's in the world of video games that fantasies thrive, and the buzz-killing realities of injuries and backstage politics don't get in the way of all things awesome. A set of bum knees and a surgically repaired neck doesn't prevent a certain rattlesnake from being an active part of WWE again. Scouring YouTube reveals seven exciting WWE 13 matches that are all possible, even if they are highly unlikely in the real world. Some of these bouts pit icon against icon. In one case, booking sidesteps a ...

Should Injured John Cena Be Forced to Relinquish the WWE Title?

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On April - 29 - 2013
According to WWE.com, John Cena is officially injured and it is not an injury that somebody just bounces back from.Cena injured his right Achilles tendon, but to what extent has not been revealed. Jim Ross recently noted that Cena has been dealing with the injury for some time.If the injury is severe enough to require more than a few weeks off, then Cena may be forced to vacate the WWE title and a new program will need to be constructed for Extreme Rules. For those who do not know, the Achilles tendon is located in the back of the leg, running ...

WWE: Top 10 Submission Holds of All Time

Posted by Matt Busch On April - 29 - 2013
The title of this story says it all. I will be counting down the top 10 submission holds of all time. The criteria used to select this list includes who used the submission, how painful the submission is and how iconic the hold is in the history of professional wrestling. This was a difficult list to whittle down to 10, and I feel bad for excluding a few that many could argue should be on this list. For these holds I am giving a quick shout-out in the honorable mentions listed below.Honorable mentions: The Sleeper Hold—used by Dolph Ziggler, Roddy Piper and Brutus ...

WWE: Program Suggestions for the WWE Network

Posted by Joe Johnson On April - 29 - 2013
Last week, we learned that WWE’s reality program Total Divas will be featured in the upcoming season’s lineup for E!Today, word began to circulate that the company is shopping NXT to cable networks as a weekly television program. Meanwhile, in quarterly phone conferences and other business forums, Vince McMahon continues to discuss openly the WWE’s intention of launching a network in the not-too-distant future.TV licensing is a major revenue stream for the WWE, so producing the two previously mentioned shows for sale makes sense. However, with the question remaining as to what would be included on a WWE Network, it ...

If the rumors are true and The Undertaker does appear at Extreme Rules, his presence on the card could do several things for WWE. From propelling The Shield, to a fallout with Kane, this single pay-per-view match has the potential to create stars and feuds (h/t F4W Online via Wrestling Inc).  The Road to WrestleMania XXX could begin next month. The WWE Universe is fully aware that CM Punk will not be at the Extreme Rules PPV. Reported frustrations with creative, as well as mounting injuries, put him on the shelf for a few weeks. Punk isn't scheduled to appear ...

Hollywood Insurance and Why The Rock May Never Wrestle Again in WWE

Posted by Sharon Glencross On April - 29 - 2013
Director Michael Bay caused a minor commotion last week at the premiere of his latest movie, Pain & Gain, when he made some rather disparaging remarks toward Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s wrestling career.Mentioning that the film’s leading man was not at the event because he was recuperating from injuries accrued in his WrestleMania match with John Cena, Bay said that it was time for the star to “grow up” and “stop wrestling 300-pound men.” After his comments garnered widespread attention, Bay quickly took to his website to insist his remarks had been made only in good humor and he had no problem ...
The story of ECW's birth and death is told once again in Barbed Wire City; The Unauthorized Story of Eastern Championship Wrestling, a new documentary directed by Kevin Kiernan and John Philapavage. The ultra-violent, now-defunct wrestling promotion has been analyzed and remembered in film version before. WWE put out The Rise and Fall of ECW in 2004. Jeremy Borash released Forever Hardcore in 2005. Barbed Wire City ran the risk of redundancy but manages to be relevant by being more comprehensive than its predecessors. The film captures the rawness of the wrestling product, the dysfunction of the company’s administration, the cult-like ...
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2013 inside a steel cage will likely be an excellent match, but one that fans won't care about. It's not a knock on either man's ability in the ring. It's not the fact that this is the third pay-per-view battle in their feud that will prevent fans from being engaged. What hampers this rubber match is that it has little consequence in WWE's overall narrative. If Triple H wins or if Lesnar wins, it won't change anything in the WWE world. Both men will go back to hibernating until the next big ...
