The United States Championship's history is highlighted with Hall of Famers like Ric Flair and future members of that group like John Cena, but who was the best champ from each state? The title's history dates back to Harley Race defeating Johnny Weaver in 1975. Since then, men from everywhere from Arkansas to Wisconsin have won and defended it. It's a championship that has traveled from the NWA to WCW and now to WWE, where Dean Ambrose carries on the tradition. Each man considered for this list will represent the state they were born in, not necessarily where they grew ...
History was made on the night of June 16th when WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler to become World Heavyweight champion. And that night at Payback may have also been the start of Del Rio's last shot at making a lasting impact with the company. At 36 years old, Del Rio is far from over the hill in the eyes of the wrestling community. The Undertaker was 44 when he won the title in 2009, while Mr. McMahon won the WWE Championship when he was 54.But it isn't age that is the biggest obstacle in Del Rio's path. It is ...
WWE needs to re-evaluate the direction it has taken Brodus Clay over the past year and a half. He certainly seems to be up for it. In an interview with SlamSports.com, one-half of the Tons of Funk tag team says he enjoys teaming with Matt “Sweet T” Bloom, but he adds he would take a singles match “in a second.” As for the general goofiness that the team tends to personify—dancing, laughing, playing heavily to the crowd—Clay says he would not classify it as being silly because he knows the possibility of change always is around the corner: Everything changes ...

Rob Van Dam’s Return and What it Means for WWE

Posted by Drake Oz On June - 28 - 2013
Rob Van Dam will return to the WWE at Money in the Bank, and despite his rather lackluster run in TNA, RVD’s return to the top wrestling promotion in the world is much more than just a minor development.  RVD, of course, was one of the biggest “free agents” available on the market before the WWE scooped him up. Don’t let his underwhelming stint in TNA fool you. He’s still someone who is synonymous with ECW, is a former WWE champion and is one of the last remaining stars from the 1990s who can still lace up his boots and ...

Sheamus Needs a Character Change in WWE

Posted by Drake Oz On June - 28 - 2013
Sheamus is one of the WWE’s top babyfaces, or so the company would have you think. There are true babyfaces who do just about everything by the book, like Kofi Kingston. There are also true heels who do whatever they can to make the fans hate them, like Mark Henry. Then, there’s Sheamus.  The WWE pushes “The Great White” as one of its top four or five babyfaces. But his character isn’t really a face. It’s much more fitting of a heel. That would be all fine and dandy if Sheamus was supposed to be a heel, but he’s not. ...
CM Punk and Paul Heyman are having some issues.  As we have been witnessing during the past couple of weeks, Punk has suddenly grown frustrated with Heyman and made the decision to part ways professionally with his popular mentor.  But this may prove to be a bad move on Punk’s part, as I believe that Heyman will ultimately prevent the Best in the World from winning WWE’s Money in the Bank ladder match.Truth be told, I think it’s a shame that Punk and Heyman are no longer working side by side.  They just fit together in so many ways, not ...

Well, at least in WWE, TNA, and Ring of Honor. In today's wrestling environment, most wrestlers are in at least decent shape. But the next five people are the exception to that rule. Read on and see who made the list.Begin Slideshow
Somebody gonna get they ass kicked. Somebody gonna get their wig split...Money in the Bank is not just about ladder matches and briefcases. This year, the main event will feature Mark Henry and John Cena in a match for the WWE Championship.  For many fans, seeing Mark Henry finally get a shot at the most prestigious title in WWE is long overdue.  But is this really the right match for the fans in Philly?  Some would say yes. I'd be one of them. But from WWE's perspective, this match will not look good. We'll likely see a raucous, anti-Cena crowd ...
This week’s episode of Impact Wrestling was looking quite good on paper. With two Bound for Glory Series matches, two title matches and updates on the Main Event Mafia, TNA Wrestling was set to keep the momentum going strong. What fans saw was that momentum get shot out of a cannon and become as strong as ever. It all started with the Main Event Mafia.   The Main Event Mafia Is Rising This week’s episode kicked off with Sting. What happened last week was just a little taste, and he quickly introduced Kurt Angle. What the Aces and Eights are ...
Some of the best talent in the world right now is in WWE’s developmental territory, NXT. No longer a “reality” show, WWE NXT is very much like Raw and SmackDown. With one hour of television every week, WWE presents their future stars to the world. Unfortunately the show isn’t available everywhere, so a day or two after its initial airing, NXT thankfully pops up online. This week would see titles sought after and characters pushed. Here’s what happened on this week’s episode of WWE NXT!   Big E Langston vs. Aiden English After hitting the Big Ending, Langston defeated English. ...
