The Importance of Creating a Successful Character in WWE

Posted by Tom Clark On June - 25 - 2013
Getting over in WWE is no easy task.  Each Superstar has the guy next to him vying for the fans’ attention, complicating his cause.  He also has to contend with the booking he’s given and how he can make every second of the match and storyline count.  But perhaps the biggest job for a wrestler in WWE is creating a character, and his success will ultimately depend on how much he can do with it.Just look at the photo of the late, great "Macho Man" Randy Savage.  If anyone in the industry has epitomized what it means to truly inhabit ...

WWE Money in the Bank 2013: One or Two Ladder Matches?

Posted by Anthony Mango On June - 25 - 2013
On tonight's episode of Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced the seven men that would take part in a Money in the Bank ladder match for a title opportunity at the WWE Championship—but no reference was made to the World Heavyweight Championship having a briefcase of its own this year. Was this a slip up, wherein McMahon should have announced that the winner of this singular ladder match would get a shot at either title like it used to be, or was this an omission done simply because WWE has yet to figure out which people will be placed in this other match?Judging ...
Having to follow a masterful episode like last week's makes a solid show like Monday's WWE Raw seem like a letdown, but this week's episode had several highlights and did a number of things right, including the CM Punk and Paul Heyman saga. At its low points, this episode felt transitional. A lot of the matches were short and hurried and some angles didn't get much of a boost. The Damien Sandow and Sheamus feud is essentially in the same place it was last week, as is Kaitlyn and AJ Lee. It's CM Punk and Paul Heyman's complex relationship that ...

WWE Was Right to End the Alberto Del Rio Babyface Experiment

Posted by Sebastian Maldonado On June - 25 - 2013
The WWE made the right call ending the Alberto Del Rio babyface experiment. Del Rio turned face at December’s TLC event, protecting his announcer Ricardo Rodriguez against 3MB. It culminated in a world title run that ended the Raw after WrestleMania, where Dolph Ziggler defeated him. That moment signaled the end of the Del Rio babyface project. Fans cheered Ziggler that night, and as far as Del Rio, he never regained the momentum he once had. The problem throughout his turn was the lukewarm reaction he received. The best reaction he procured was when he won the world title from the ...
Once again, Mark Henry may get one chance to make a first impression. The former ECW and World Heavyweight Champion will face John Cena in the main event of Money in the Bank. That is a smart move by WWE brass, who took Henry out of a potential program with Cena prior to Extreme Rules so Ryback could face the “face” of WWE and complete his heel turn in a more “dramatic” style. Now, it seems the World’s Strongest Man may get the short end of the stick should Daniel Bryan and the creative team have anything to say about it.From F4WOnline.com ...
On Monday night, the WWE was looking to continue its momentum after a spectacular previous week of entertainment. Live from the North Charleston Civic Center in North Charleston, S.C., it was once again a thrilling, jam-packed slate with plenty of in-ring action and even more important storyline development and interesting twists. We got more of Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton. We got the much-anticipated—and brilliantly worked—showdown between CM Punk and Paul Heyman. We got a very clear outlook for Money in the Bank, and despite the pay-per-view still being three weeks away, it already looks absolutely loaded. And that was just a fraction of ...
The Monday, June 24 edition of WWE Raw, which aired live from North Charleston, S.C. began with a video package recapping the latest events centered around CM Punk's return to the ring and Mark Henry's fake retirement speech. Match No. 1: Daniel Bryan vs. Randy OrtonNo-contest match via disqualification.Complete chaos to begin Monday Night Raw, as Bryan and Orton brawled throughout ringside before the referee threw out the match. An effective way to boost the feud between Bryan and Orton.Match Rating: 2/5. After a commercial break, Bryan stormed backstage and demanded a rematch against Orton. After teasing a match with Brad Maddox ...

WWE MITB Spoiler: Local Commercial Reveals 5 MITB Ladder Match Particpants

Posted by Colin I. McAndrew On June - 24 - 2013
It's disclosure time again: If you are not a fan of spoilers, there is no need to read any further. Especially if you are looking forward to all that WWE has in store for July's Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Alright, with that out of the way, it's time to get down to business. Fortunately, I live in the greater Philadelphia area, so I was able to witness the commercial firsthand during Monday night's Raw. The advertisement (seen below) revealed at least five MITB ladder match participants. The stars mentioned were CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and The Shield. The ad ...

Chris Jericho Remembers Chris Benoit on Anniversary of Murder-Suicide

Posted by Chris Featherstone On June - 24 - 2013
It all started in 1985. Chris Benoit, being fascinated with the style of the Dynamite Kid, began his wrestling career. Looking to emulate the style of his role model, Benoit entered Canada's Stampede Wrestling promotion and began to impress the Hart family with his undying passion to excel in the wrestling business. Here, Benoit started to mimic some moves from Kid, particularly the diving headbutt. Benoit would go on to use this move for the duration of his career.Benoit then did some work in Japan and Mexico, even capturing the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship and holding it for over a ...

Will Curt Hawkins Eventually Surpass Zack Ryder in WWE?

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On June - 24 - 2013
Zack Ryder is the one with the United States title on his resume, but in the end it will be Curt Hawkins who will have the better WWE career. Back in 2008, Ryder and Hawkins won tag team gold together becoming the youngest tag team champs in WWE history. The two athletic superstars looked to be on the rise in the company, climbing one rung at a time. Fast forward to 2013 and both men are among WWE's bottom feeders.Ryder had a short burst of popularity that appears to be long over. Hawkins, though, could take the slow and steady ...
