The Shied vs. Mark Henry and The Usos Rob Van Dam vs. Fandango AJ Lee vs. Kaitlyn Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian in a non-title match Daniel Bryan vs. Kane John Cena vs. Ryback in a tables match  WWE has had time to polish and edit this show like they do every week on SmackDown, so this could end up feeling like a ...

Chris Sabin as the World Heavyweight Champion: A Fan’s Ramble

Posted by Tony Dolemite On July - 29 - 2013
Chris Sabin’s victory over Bully Ray for the World Heavyweight Championship at Destination X was totally unexpected. Although I have the utmost respect for Sabin, given TNA’s history, I expected him to have a great match with Ray but still come up short in his quest to become champion. After all, Bully Ray has actually breathed life back into the world title scene. It wouldn't have hurt the company if he had held onto the title a bit longer. I’ll certainly give credit where credit is due, to TNA for pulling the trigger on a Sabin title run. Keeping this in mind, I ...

Daniel Bryan Will Surpass CM Punk in Hierarchy of WWE Universe

Posted by Joe Johnson On July - 29 - 2013
Since John Cena first captured the WWE title at WrestleMania 21 in 2005, the WWE has not created a bona fide main event superstar on his level. Batista was already there. Randy Orton and Edge were already established. The company coasted on John Cena's popularity among younger fans for a half-decade until CM Punk held a public airing of grievances that George Costanza would've appreciated a few summers ago. Punk's pipe bomb promo launched him into main event circles, ultimately leading him to capture the WWE title and tally a record reign as champ.  With Punk's feuds against Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman ...

Who’s Hot and Who’s Not Heading into Raw on Jul 29

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 29 - 2013
During a week where WWE taped SmackDowns two nights in a row and taped the Raw fans will see Monday night, some Superstars charged toward SummerSlam with a surplus of momentum. These title contenders continued winning streaks and remained key figures on WWE programming. Contrast that with one of Zeb Colter's allies, a man struggling to remember what a win feels like. Other Superstars, including a secondary champion, haven't even had much opportunity to fail. Let's pick apart those who head into Monday's Raw in need of a change and who is sizzling heading into SummerSlam.  Begin Slideshow

Recapping and Grading the Premiere of WWE Total Divas

Posted by David Bixenspan On July - 29 - 2013
The moment that you've been either anticipating or dreading is here.  Total Divas premiered last night!  There were so many questions going in: How much obvious fakery would there be?   The show opened with a big exposition dump: Quick intro to WWE that included the term "Broadway with bodyslams."  Yes. Nikki and Brie Bella are excited to be coming back from a year off, but... They think the Funkadactyls, Ariane and Trinity, took advantage of their departure to become fan favorites.  Yes, we quickly learn that they're using real names for just about everyone: Not only are Cameron always Ariane and Naomi always ...

WWE Stock Watch

Posted by Big Nasty On July - 29 - 2013
Deep into SummerSlam season it’s apparent whose stock is up and whose is down, but some valuations are more surprising than others. It wasn’t too long ago that The Shield was the hottest thing going in wrestling, but with the rise of the Wyatt Family, The Shield has been relegated to pre-show fodder. With the stable currently on the wrong side of a feud with Mark Henry and The Usos, the group could be a few losses away from The Nexus. Cody Rhodes continues to gain momentum as a babyface, feuding with Money in the Bank winner Damien Sandow. Rhodes may not have won ...
Right now, the title chase for the WWE Championship is the most interesting it has been in a long time. If WWE wants to keep the excitement rolling through the rest of the year, it needs to have Daniel Bryan capture his first-ever WWE title, only to lose it seconds later to Randy Orton in a cash-in of Orton’s Money in the Bank briefcase. Doing that guarantees that the battle for WWE’s top prize is the story to watch for the rest of 2013 and maybe even beyond. That doesn't mean that a cash-in against John Cena wouldn't be exciting for the ...

WWE Battleground Announced as New October Pay-Per-View

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 29 - 2013
WWE fans in Buffalo, NY are set to experience history. The first-ever edition of WWE Battleground is headed to the First Niagara Center. The pay-per-view will replace Over the Limit on the WWE calendar. Sandwiched in between Night of Champions and Hell in a Cell, WWE Battleground makes its debut on Oct. 6. WWE.com announced the change on Monday, writing that "the inaugural WWE Battleground is sure to be a spectacular that no WWE fan will want to miss." Over the Limit ends after only three years. Aside from a quality I Quit match between Dave Batista and John Cena and an all-time classic ...
Three weeks from his grand return to WWE at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Rob Van Dam is impressing many fans. Certainly, Van Dam's dynamic in-ring performances have helped put to rest memories of his dismal TNA run. Maybe it's the change in scenery—how motivated can anyone be in an under-performing company like TNA, anyway? Or maybe the star sees this second WWE stint as his last chance to cement his wrestling legacy and is thus trying extra hard. Regardless, he's performing better than he has in years. His lengthy TV match with Chris Jericho on Raw two weeks ago was, in ...

Updated Full Card Predictions for SummerSlam

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 29 - 2013
Only two matches are official for SummerSlam 2013 so far. WWE has hinted at how the rest of the card will look with the feuds, matches and tension seen on Raw and SmackDown recently. This week should see the smoke dissipate, giving fans a clearer look at the clashes we can expect to see on August 18. CM Punk taking on Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan challenging John Cena are set, that leaves about five or six matches left to fill out the rest of the show. The last few SummerSlams featured seven, seven, six and eight matches respectively. With limited spots remaining, ...
