Battle of the Theme Songs: Wade Barrett vs. Jack Swagger

Posted by Chris Featherstone On July - 27 - 2013
We all know that theme songs often tip the scales as far as a wrestler being over with the fans. Many WWE Superstars were fairly over with the fans but broke the glass ceiling upon receiving a new theme song. Moreover, I could give you at least 10 snippets of theme songs from the past 20 years, and you would almost immediately link them to the correct superstar. In this new series, we are going to have some fun picking the best theme song out of two competitors who are in close proximity as far as WWE status is concerned. So let's ...

Report: Chyna a Possiblity for the 2014 Hall of Fame

Posted by Sharon Glencross On July - 27 - 2013
In what is a fairly shocking piece of news, it appears former Diva Chyna is under consideration for a spot in the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. PWI, via Lords of Pain, notes that that there is currently talk within the company that legendary stable DX will be the main inductee at next year's ceremony, and former member Chyna will be invited to participate in festivities: On a related note, it looks like DX as a group will be the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame headliners. They were going to go in this year until WWE worked out a deal with Bruno ...
We are finally seeing the true greatness of Cody Rhodes and the potential that lies in a face turn all too long in the making. While Damien Sandow has become public enemy No. 1 in the eyes of the second-generation wrestler, the feud between the two up-and-coming stars in the WWE is one of the better storylines heading into SummerSlam. And it should be. Wrestling is cyclic in that it uses storylines over and over again to reach the masses because they relate to all of us. The jilted lover (AJ and Dolph Ziggler), the fight over control (the McMahon Family), the disrespect card ...

WWE Week in Review, July 27: Big Show No-Shows, Daniel Bryan Impresses

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On July - 27 - 2013
It was another sweltering week in the world of wrestling that featured enjoyable editions of Monday Night Raw as well as Friday Night SmackDown. Both programs did an effective job of building towards SummerSlam, which is shaping up to be one of the best pay-per-views in a long while. There's no denying that Daniel Bryan was the star of this week's Raw, defeating three of WWE's top prospects in the night's main event. Meanwhile on SmackDown, Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes took control of the blue brand to further their feud going into the biggest blockbuster of the summer. In other action, ...

Complete Report Card and Predictions Following WWE SmackDown for 7/26/13

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On July - 27 - 2013
Every week here on Bleacher Report, I will take an in-depth look at SmackDown, recapping all the action, offering analysis and grading the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show, as well as provide some predictions on the direction of storylines after the show. This week's SmackDown wasn't anything special in regard to the matches that took place, but we had some decent storyline development on several fronts, as well as an in-ring debut for two new Superstars. Bray Wyatt accompanied Luke Harper and Erick Rowan to the ring for their match with Tons of Funk. Kane was still MIA, which meant Wyatt ...
When Damien Sandow won the Money in the Bank match for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, his career instantly moved from the midcard to the main event.  Squashing his partnership with former best friend, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow chose going for championship gold over friendship. The feud between Rhodes and Sandow should be entertaining and provide both with much deserved career boosts. Even though Cody Rhodes threw the physical briefcase into the Gulf of Mexico on the most recent edition of SmackDown, it does not take away the fact that Damien Sandow still is the Money in the Bank ...

Daniel Bryan Does Not Face Must-Win at SummerSlam vs. John Cena

Posted by Big Nasty On July - 27 - 2013
Daniel Bryan is in the midst of the biggest push of his career as he prepares to face off against John Cena at SummerSlam. The seemingly insurmountable obstacle of Cena has many fans skeptical. Cena is often referred to as “Super Cena” in a caustic, facetious tone by hardcore wrestling fans. So his chances of dropping the WWE Championship to the undersized Bryan seem highly unlikely. Cena is coming off of a clean victory over surging monster Mark Henry at Money in the Bank—so on paper, Bryan shouldn't stand a chance. Based on his white-hot booking, not only does Bryan stand a chance, his role ...
WWE has made technology as much a part of its product as the headlock. That marriage has altered how fans watch WWE events in a number of ways of both the subtle and obvious varieties. These changes are part of the continual evolution WWE has experienced—an attempt to keep up with society’s transformations. Pro wrestling has a come a long way from being shown on black-and-white TV, and even further from being untelevised, seen only by those in attendance at carnivals and state fairs. Whether one finds technology's infiltration into WWE and to entertainment as a whole annoying or awesome, it's a force ...
As challenger Daniel Bryan heads into SummerSlam, you have to wonder what a loss to John Cena would mean for his credibility with fans. Undoubtedly, Bryan is on fire right now as a babyface. He’s receiving huge reactions from the crowd and churning out some of the greatest wrestling matches ever to air on free television—his terrific bout with Antonio Cesaro on Monday, in particular, was spellbinding.   His profile outside of the company has also risen: Thanks to his real-life relationship with star Brie Bella, Bryan has also been all over the marketing for E!’s Total Divas show, due to premiere this ...
