Posted by Justin LaBar On July - 26 - 2013
Try to think back to when it was New Year's Eve and minutes away from 2013.At that moment as a wrestling fan, there were expectations you had for the year in terms of events and performers. I know at that time the big expectation and question I had was about The Rock, who was about to face CM Punk at the Royal Rumble. There was also, of course, the mystery of who would face The Undertaker. It's safe to say The Rock, CM Punk, The Undertaker and John Cena have all been up to par thus far in 2013.But who are ...

Breaking Down the Best and Worst of the WWE for Week of Jul 22

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 26 - 2013
In a week thrown out of whack by the touring schedule, WWE gave fans plenty to cheer about as well as a few gripe-inducing items. A goat-faced Superstar earned all the praise that came his way, a Swiss strongman impressed and a former ECW stud kept extending his resume. As for the week's low points, WWE's forceful promotion of Total Divas continued. The rest is nothing egregious. WWE has been on a roll as of late, having many more successes than failures, and this week was further proof of that. From flying vegans to the difficulty in shutting out spoilers, here is the ...

WWE Flashback Friday: What If CM Punk’s 2011 Return Wasn’t so Immediate?

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On July - 26 - 2013
Every Friday, I analyze past storyline that were altered by real-life instances, including injuries, suspensions and more. In this series of articles, I predict what would have happened in the angle had it gone as originally planned. July 25 marked the two-year anniversary of one of the most monumental moments in recent wrestling history. Not only was it the night that Zack Ryder scored his first televised win in singles competition and Triple H brought Jim Ross back to commentary, it was the night that saw CM Punk return to WWE after a mere eight days. In the weeks that preceded that ...
The Real Americans can be the real answer to keeping stability with the tag team division in WWE.The Shield, Prime Time Players, Rhodes Scholars and Team Hell No were or are good teams that have been in tag matches regularly in the past year. The problem with all of them as far as tag teams go is that they have bright futures ahead to be stars individually. It's very common to create a tag team to help launch the individual careers of those in the team. The same can be said for trios or stables where you hope to let the ...
After months of hype and promotion, the WWE and E! collaboration Total Divas is set to debut on Sunday night. The show promises to offer an inside look at the lives of WWE Divas, including The Bella Twins, The Funkadactyls, Natalya and a pair of new Divas in Eva Marie and Jo-Jo. The WWE Universe is certainly a very vocal group, so there has already been plenty of talk about the show's potential benefits and shortcomings. There seems to be some concern that Total Divas will come off as scripted, but, at the same time, never before have fans been granted such extensive access to ...

WWE Summerslam 2013: Matches That Will Fail to Excite Fans

Posted by Drake Oz On July - 26 - 2013
The 2013 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view will be headlined by two matches that the fans, both those at the show and those watching at home, are going to go nuts for. Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk and John Cena vs. Daniel Bryan are two-star studded main events that involve four of the biggest names in the business, who just so happen to be great wrestlers, so you can rest assured that the audience will be captivated by both bouts. The rest of the SummerSlam card is shaping up to be pretty good, too—depending on who you ask, that is.  While hardcore fans are more ...

WWE Summerslam 2013: Most Likely Heel and Face Turns at PPV

Posted by Drake Oz On July - 26 - 2013
In case you haven’t noticed, there has been a plethora of babyface and heel turns in the WWE in recent months. Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry and CM Punk are just a few of the major names to go good. Meanwhile, Alberto Del Rio and Ryback are a couple of top guys who have gone bad. Judging by all those recent turns, it’s a safe bet to assume that a star or two will turn at the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view. SummerSlam provides the WWE with a huge stage to pull off a major turn that gets the fans talking, and with the way some ...
WWE SmackDown emanates from Corpus Christi, Texas this week.  The program was recorded on Wednesday, July 24, following a Monday Night Raw that was filled with some very entertaining moments. Raw featured the WWE Championship contract signing between John Cena and Daniel Bryan.  We also saw a verbal confrontation between two former best friends in CM Punk and Paul Heyman. Later in the program we saw Bryan face Jack Swagger, Antonio Cesaro and then Ryback in a three-match gauntlet main event. Would SmackDown be able to follow all of that up with some drama of its own?  Here are five things you need ...
