After sustaining multiple blows to the head during Sunday night's Survivor Series PPV as well as Monday night's Raw, the Big Show is being held out of participation with concussion symptoms.  In order to retain his WWE title during Sunday's main event, Randy Orton hit Show with a classic move that many have been clamoring to see more of: a punt to the head.  While the blow didn't give the veteran superstar a concussion, it did result in some "head trauma," according to ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann. Per WWE.com: According to ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann, the giant "did sustain some head trauma from Randy ...
Debuting in 2000, Tables, Ladders and Chairs was a match type most closely associated with tag team wrestling. The Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian revolutionized professional wrestling in a series of matches that captivated fans across the globe. Their willingness to sacrifice their bodies for the sake of entertainment helped establish the match as one of the most popular gimmick bouts in WWE history. In 2006, the TLC match would take on a greater importance than it ever had before, thanks to Edge's rise to the top of the card as the self-proclaimed Rated R Superstar. The Toronto ...

WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Batista, Brodus Clay and More

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 26 - 2013
The latest batch of WWE rumors addresses the possibility of a Batista return and speculates on Brodus Clay's future.  A recent sighting of "The Animal" Batista had fans buzzing over whether he would be back in a WWE ring soon. Clay hasn't been seen at all; Xavier Woods usurping his entrance music and dance partners had folks whispering about what's happening with "The Funkasaurus." Other rumors address whether John Laurinaitis will be back, where Layla El is and what social media trend over the weekend had WWE officials upset. Digging through the latest backstage reports reveals a number of denial-filled rumors sure ...
That career-defining moment that awaits the winner of the Randy Orton vs. John Cena champion vs. champion match at WWE TLC 2013 would have been better suited for Daniel Bryan. Rather than further pad the resumes of Orton and Cena, WWE would have been wiser to use this bout to catapult a new star into the top tier. Instead, the excitement of champion battling champion is drowned out by chants for the wrestler many fans want to see wear gold. Monday's Raw was framed around the huge announcement for TLC's main event. Orton stood in the ring with The Authority and claimed to ...

Matt Hardy Slams Raw Angle, WWE’s Creative Direction

Posted by Sharon Glencross On November - 26 - 2013
Former WWE performer Matt Hardy has taken to his Twitter account to criticize Monday's Miz TV segment with former NFL superstar Michael Strahan. The rather nonsensical segment, which saw Strahan attempt various wrestling moves with The Miz and Titus O'Neil and generally make a mockery of kayfabe, has been met with generally negative reviews from critics and fans. Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net was particularly scathing, writing: This left me feeling like we are about two steps away from having Triple H close out the show while all the wrestlers stand behind him on the stage. The credits will roll and Hunter and ...

RAW Review 11/26/13: Unifying Belts, Emerging New Star and More

Posted by Big Nasty On November - 26 - 2013
WWE seems to have begun the process of unifying the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships at TLC. Looks can be deceiving, however, so paying customers should be weary of an indecisive finish in the forthcoming match between John Cena and Randy Orton. Roman Reigns’ tear through the WWE roster continued on Raw when he and the Shield took apart CM Punk. Reigns was once again the focal point of the attack, which has many buzzing about his future as a top star. Case studies on the respective demises of Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, Jack Swagger and Wade Barrett should prove to be ...

WWE’s Breaking of Kayfabe on Raw Is an Insult to Fans

Posted by David Bixenspan On November - 26 - 2013
Last night on Raw, for the first time in a while, there was a special guest host in the form of Michael Strahan. There's no middle ground with the guest hosts: They're either great (Bob Barker, The Muppets and wrestling fans like Mike Tyson) or incredibly awful (just about everyone else). Not surprisingly, Strahan was incredibly awful.  He's already an incredibly awkward TV personality for someone who's onscreen every day. Take someone like that and put him on Raw, and it's not pretty. He was in three segments, the main one being MizTV. The segment got weird before Strahan came out, as ...

Tracing the Origins and Evolution of the Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 26 - 2013
Pro wrestling's Tables, Ladders and Chairs match was born in Detroit, in Memphis, in Calgary, fathered by Randy Savage, Dan Kroffat, The New Brood, Edge and Christian and others. The TLC match is now the centerpiece of WWE's annual pay-per-view TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Randy Orton and John Cena will compete in this type of bout at TLC 2013 with both the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE title on the line. Championships, contracts or perhaps a bag stuffed with money hang above the ring forcing the wrestlers to climb a ladder to retrieve the prize. The ladders, along with tables and ...

Predictions and Feuds for CM Punk and Daniel Bryan After Survivor Series

Posted by Sharon Glencross On November - 26 - 2013
Following their surprise victory at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, the future looks unclear for Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Both have been banished from the WWE Championship scene—for now, at least—and have found themselves stuck in the upper midcard. The company seems to recognize how hugely over and talented both guys are—they have been picking up wins and are booked strongly—but the idea of either man being the new “face of the company” is long gone. Bryan, in particular, appears to have taken a significant amount of the blame from WWE over the plummeting buyrates, if you believe a recent report from PWI, ...
If we can take anything away from WWE's woefully dull Survivor Series pay-per-view, it's this: The Big Show, while talented, is simply not cut out to be the company's top babyface. The awful match between Big Show and Randy Orton stressed everything that's been wrong with the giant's current push. He's not hugely over with the fans nor was his feud with Orton anything special, as emphasized by the loud “boring” chants from the Boston crowd throughout the match. Granted, the star has also been hindered by the booking, which has fallen off a cliff in recent times. As PWTorch's Greg Parks noted Sunday ...
