WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for Jan. 3

Posted by David Bixenspan On January - 2 - 2014
If by some chance you weren't already aware, kayfabe is dead, folks.  While this week's SmackDown is not the first show in the last few weeks to be taped out of order, taping the show on Sunday still revealed one of the two big angles (Brock Lesnar attacking Mark Henry) for Monday's Raw even though it hadn't actually happened yet. The other big angle, Daniel Bryan joining the Wyatt Family, was not mentioned at the tapings and Bryan didn't appear at all, so barring some backstage segments not shown to the live crowd, that's not being followed up on until Old ...

WWE Reality Check: Royal Rumble’s WWE Title Match

Posted by Justin LaBar On January - 2 - 2014
Red light, green light. Starting line, finish line. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a natural order to things in life. It's logic and common sense. It's universal. The same can be said for things in the professional wrestling world. However, WWE has just done something that is a major breaking point of logic concerning WWE's title match between Randy Orton and John Cena at Royal Rumble. It's the subject of this weeks Reality Check.  Follow @JustinLaBar  Read more Pro Wrestling news on BleacherReport.com

TNA Impact! Wrestling Closes Its Majorly Disappointing 2013 Year

Posted by Daniel Peragine On January - 2 - 2014
With the final edition of Impact! Wrestling in the books, TNA has finally closed the chapter in what has been a very disappointing 2013 year. Yet, despite the struggles, TNA has seen some bright spots in recent weeks in its transition into the post-Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff era. The final edition of Impact! Wrestling, which aired this past Thursday on Spike TV, was watched by an average of 1.35 million viewers (via TV By the Numbers). This was up from the December 19 edition, which had just 1.24 million viewers. Despite ending 2013 on a higher note, TNA suffered greatly through ...
Intrigue has never been a word closely associated with the Royal Rumble. Throughout its 26-year existence, there have been very few surprise winners. There have always been, at most, a handful of Superstars that were most likely to win the match and everyone else was simply filler. Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Triple H and Hulk Hogan are examples of Superstars who were overwhelming favorites to win the Rumble. Prior to the December 23 episode of Raw, the perception was that either CM Punk or Daniel Bryan were the favorites to win the upcoming January 26 match. Then came the huge announcement that ...

Interesting Lesser-Known Royal Rumble Statistics and Facts (1988-2013)

Posted by Simon Edmonds On January - 2 - 2014
The Royal Rumble is without a doubt my favourite WWE pay-per-view event. In truth, the 2000 Royal Rumble—which I sat gleefully watching on channel 4 at the tender age of seven—was my first ever real foray into the world of professional wrestling. I didn't really know most of the competitors in the match, but the atmosphere and concept of the Rumble itself gripped me from the get-go.  Now, nearly 14 years later, I look back on that turn-of-the-century PPV with nostalgic warmth. One thing that makes the Rumble what it is, is the unique organisation of the contest (no need, I'm sure, to lay ...
The Wyatt Family taking Daniel Bryan hostage is both beautiful and scary. For weeks, we've been teased with a feud between the two. After the intense teasing of Kane joining the family (which would have made sense) and it never happening, I didn't think much of the taunts to Bryan. I figured it was done to kill time in the lull of the holiday period of programming. However, based on the previous episode of Raw, it seems there is more to the story. Bryan stumbled to Bray Wyatt like a baby learning to walk. The show went off the air giving you the ...
As the Royal Rumble looms very near on the horizon, the WWE Universe is gearing up for a winter showdown that pits many of the top superstars in the company against each other in one ring, with only one man emerging victorious from the pile. With the returns of Brock Lesnar and Batista, the company has now unleashed two monsters from the past on the talent roster, and both look to be huge threats going forward. We have yet to see what Batista's goals are, as we've only seen promos hyping his long-awaited return. Lesnar, on the other hand, has seemingly set his ...
TNA has held several One Night Only pay-per-view events over the last year, but 2014 has been ushered in by the Tag Team Tournament special. Filmed in March of 2013, this show features tag teams that have participated on TNA television and have played a role in the success of the company. While many of the wrestlers are no longer with TNA, this tournament will be steeped in nostalgia. The winning pair will be crowned the “Best TNA Tag Team” and will carry the honor with pride. Here is all the vital viewing information, the match card and a full preview of the ...

Daniel Bryan Joining Bray Wyatt Will Enhance Both of Their Careers

Posted by Aaron Bower On January - 2 - 2014
For weeks, the feud between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt had appeared to be going nowhere. Like several of Wyatt's previous rivalries in the WWE—think the likes of CM Punk and Kane—it just felt as if when something more important came along for Bryan, the storyline would be dropped. With the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season just around the corner, it certainly felt as if that was going to happen over the coming weeks. Therefore, credit must be paid to WWE's creative team for drawing up a swerve that few will have seen coming. The window of opportunity for Daniel Bryan to ...
