The Good, the Great and the Awesome from Raw 7/28/14

Posted by Erik Beaston On July - 29 - 2014
The July 28 episode of Raw was the setting for the intensification of the rivalry between Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon, which will culminate on August 17 at SummerSlam, where the principal owner of WWE steps foot inside a squared circle for the first time in a decade. The rivalry getting the main event slot on Monday's show indicates that it is not only catching on with the fans but that management believes strongly in a rivalry centered around two female performers, something that was inconceivable a year ago. WWE world heavyweight champion John Cena returned, showing more passion during a promo ...
SummerSlam grew by two matches after the July 28 edition of WWE Raw. Chris Jericho demanded and received a chance to step into a monster's den. Brie Bella had demands of her own, holding battery charges over Stephanie McMahon's head until there was a bout between them at the upcoming pay-per-view in place. Houston's Toyota Center hosted a show that began on fire and later had filler douse its flames. Fans who skipped the first 20 minutes of Monday's Raw missed the best promo and best match the show had to offer. John Cena, Paul Heyman and Cesaro excelled. Several wrestlers from Adam Rose ...

Stephanie McMahon to Face Brie Bella at 2014 SummerSlam PPV

Posted by Tim Keeney On July - 28 - 2014
Brie Bella will make her in-ring return to WWE at SummerSlam, and she's going to do it against Stephanie McMahon.  SummerSlam's Twitter feed confirmed the news: Brie, who quit in June after McMahon threatened to strip Daniel Bryan of the WWE World Heavyweight title, returned to get her job back Monday night. She demanded a SummerSlam match with McMahon and after some reluctance from Steph, the match was finally made.  By that time, McMahon appeared to be in tears, but when Brie got close, the WWE Chief Brand Officer wailed on the Bella twin and followed it up with this line: Furthering the feud, ...

Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of WWE Monday Night Raw for July 28. Last week's show featured the predictable return of Brock Lesnar. Triple H agreed to give Lesnar a WWE World Heavyweight title shot against John Cena after all his other options fell apart. John Cena wasn't there to respond, but he will be this week. It should be interesting to see what Cena has to say about facing Lesnar at SummerSlam. With the second-biggest pay-per-view only being three weeks away, it's a safe bet that WWE will start building up more of the card on Monday night. Will Dolph Ziggler challenge ...

Latest News and Rumors Surrounding WWE 2K15 for July 28

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 28 - 2014
WWE fans are assured of two things in August: SummerSlam's arrival and rumors surrounding WWE 2K15 beginning to gain momentum. Information about the upcoming video game isn't plentiful yet, but curiosity for what shape it will take certainly is. Who will be on the roster is at the heart of the majority of the current WWE 2K15 buzz. After the last two versions of the game showcased the Attitude era and WrestleMania history, could NXT be the next central theme? Fans will have a better idea of what the answer to that question is after a scheduled roster reveal. For now, though, one has to ...

Cesaro’s Failed Push Is a Prime Example of WWE’s Heel Problem

Posted by Tom Beasley On July - 28 - 2014
Coming out of WrestleMania XXX, life was pretty rosy for Antonio Cesaro. He had just taken the roof off the Superdome twice—first by turning on tag team partner Jack Swagger and then by winning the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. The next night on Raw, Cesaro became a Paul Heyman Guy and looked set for a profitable alliance with arguably the greatest manager in WWE history. But, from there, it all went wrong. The WWE opted to fight the organic babyface turn and keep Cesaro as a heel under Heyman. He was thrust into a mediocre program with Rob Van Dam in ...

Hulk Hogan Talks WrestleMania 30, the Undertaker’s Streak, and More

Posted by David Bixenspan On July - 28 - 2014
With the annual WrestleMania special airing this Saturday night on NBC, Hulk Hogan did a conference call today to promote the broadcast. Being that WrestleMania was the main topic of discussion, the scope of the questions was generally limited to his thoughts on this year's show and his past WrestleMania matches. With Daniel Bryan out of action and the fact that telling his story would require covering two matches, he's nowhere to be found on the special. His matches were generally considered the best on the show, though. When it comes to Hogan's own pick for the best match at WrestleMania 30, ...

The official Twitter of NXT Wrestling announced the signing as well: Devitt was one of the most popular wrestlers on the indy scene before signing with WWE. Breaking Down Each of Brock Lesnar’s Matches at SummerSlam

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 28 - 2014
Brock Lesnar has made SummerSlam the savanna where he chases down and rips apart his prey. Compelling destruction has been a constant each time The Beast Incarnate has wrestled at the pay-per-view. When John Cena battles him at this year's SummerSlam, he'll know what to expect—chairs stinging flesh, thunderous slams and attempts to crank his arm in the wrong direction. Those have been hallmarks of Lesnar's collisions with The Rock, Kurt Angle, Triple H and CM Punk. Whether those clashes have been part of the main event or not, they have been among the most captivating, most memorable offerings of the pay-per-view. He ...
