WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from July 25

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On July - 26 - 2014
Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show. I also provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. This week's show featured great action from some of WWE's rising stars, particularly from Dean Ambrose and Cesaro in a No Disqualification match. Several major feuds were addressed, but one interesting program developing is between Miz and Dolph Ziggler. The two former World champions seem like the next logical intercontinental title feud. The Usos had an entertaining bout with RybAxel, Roman ...

Daniel Bryan Stops Burglary Attempt at His House

Posted by Joseph Zucker On July - 25 - 2014
Daniel Bryan has single-handedly taken down Randy Orton, Batista and The Authority. What's one measly burglar? According to Breann Bierman of CBS 5 in Phoenix, the WWE superstar arrived home with his wife, WWE diva Brie Bella, to realize it was being burglarized. He pinned down one of the suspects until authorities were on the scene: Phoenix police said former wrestler Bryan Danielson, who goes by Daniel Bryan, and his wife were pulling into their carport in the Arcadia area about 7 p.m. on July 24 when two suspects dropped their loot and ran out of the house. Phoenix police said they broke the back ...

Saturday Night’s Main Event’s 7 Greatest Moments of the 1980s

Posted by David Bixenspan On July - 25 - 2014
In 1985, shortly after the first WrestleMania, NBC started airing WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event specials every so often in the Saturday Night Live time slot on off weeks.  That type of prime TV real estate was a big part of making the pro wrestling boom under Hulk Hogan even bigger, and a number of the most memorable moments from the late '80s took place on SNME. This week, WWE Network completed their archive of every '80s episode of SNME, allowing fans to start to fill in the gaps between the already available pay-per-view events from when they were much less ...

WWE SummerSlam 2014: Worst Matches in History of PPV

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On July - 25 - 2014
SummerSlam is one of the longest-running traditions in WWE, and it's the company's second-biggest night of the year behind WrestleMania, but that doesn't mean that every match is guaranteed to be good. In fact, almost every single year, there is at least one match that leaves fans scratching their head as to how it got on the card for one of the biggest shows all year. Sometimes, these matches serve as a good opportunity to get in a quick bathroom break or replenish your refreshments, but you don't always know which match will be the stinker, making it tough to plan ahead. Sometimes ...

Stock Up, Stock Down for WWE NXT Prospects for Week of July 21

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 25 - 2014
Charlotte made the most upward movement of all the WWE NXT prospects this week, showing that she's Ric Flair's daughter in more than just name. Champions were at the center of the latest episode of NXT. For Charlotte and Adrian Neville, that meant displaying a growing toolbox of skills. For The Ascension, though, things stood still thanks to inadequate opposition. Kalisto and Mojo Rawley went in opposite directions, the former getting a fitting tag partner and the latter getting shoved down the card. In the race to the main roster, Kalisto moved closer to the front. Neville and Charlotte, meanwhile, increased the distance ...

Breaking Down the Best and Worst of the WWE for Week of July 21

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On July - 25 - 2014
The Usos outdid their previous piece de resistance, successfully defending the tag team titles in what was WWE's best match of the week. Their stellar performance against The Wyatt Family at Battleground joins Dolph Ziggler's non-title win and Xavier Woods' metamorphosis as the most satisfying offerings to come out of a WWE ring as July nears its end. A strong hint of a future SummerSlam match and a bout that never was delivered the opposite sensation. A disappointing pay-per-view opened with one of the year's most exciting tag team matches before trailing off. The future beyond that event promises an underwhelming match with ...
As the WWE Universe begins to cool down from Battleground, Superstars may soon find that the heat has only now begun to rise as they gear up for the impending SummerSlam event to take place August 17. And while it has been announced that John Cena will defend his WWE world heavyweight title against a returning Brock Lesnar, there is still the rest of the card to fill out. And while established stars like Chris Jericho and Sheamus are all likely to fill in some of the blanks as to who else could possibly be competing at the event, other ...
Battleground inspired the first bits of notable WWE social media of the week and then a face-painted newcomer took over from there. Sting's first non-video game appearance for the company led to the bulk of the top tweets, Instagram photos and viral videos that made their way across the Internet. Kenta, memorable debuts and Zack Ryder's long wait between wins rounded things out.  Of Sunday's Battleground pay-per-view's many outcomes, one was startling and another was expected. The former saw Dean Ambrose lie in wait for Seth Rollins inside the trunk of a rental car. The two foes didn't have a match as scheduled ...

The Good, the Great and the Awesome from NXT 7/24/14

Posted by Erik Beaston On July - 25 - 2014
After weeks of the storyline involving Tyson Kidd and Natalya dominating headlines in NXT, the focus of the July 24 episode was on the budding rivalry between NXT champion Adrian Neville and No. 1 contender Tyler Breeze. Not only was Breeze put over as a legitimate threat to take the title from Neville, but he also proved to be quite dangerous and calculating. Mojo Rawley found out firsthand in a brief match with Breeze, while Neville was left lying in a heap following a match against Rusev, thanks largely to the well-timed interference of the former runway model. Neville and Breeze will ...
