5 Things That Must Happen Before Roman Reigns Is a World Champion

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On August - 1 - 2014
It's no secret Roman Reigns is the unofficial heir apparent to John Cena's throne. If all goes according to plan, in one or two years, it'll be Roman Reigns in neon riot gear drawing the ire of the very fans who currently support his rise. By then, just a few title reigns will be all it takes for the Reality Era to make an enemy out of the current rising star. "Why isn't Dean Ambrose in that spot? Reigns can't wrestle like him! What about Seth Rollins? Prince Devitt? Kevin Steen? Kenta? Dolph Ziggler?" Yes, Ziggler will still be a subject of complaint on ...

Stock Up, Stock Down for WWE NXT Prospects for Week of July 28

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On August - 1 - 2014
A quartet of prospects from the WWE NXT tag team division forced fans to take notice. Konnor and Viktor of The Ascension appear even more ready for a call-up. The Mechanics debuted, the two bruisers impressively in sync. Those men along with Becky Lynch most improved their stock on this week's NXT. Credit high energy and stage presence for that. Angelo Dawkins and Mojo Rawley, meanwhile, failed to gain any traction. For the former, he continues to have little opportunity to do so. As for Rawley, it's clear his climb to WWE's biggest stage is going to take a long while. In her biggest NXT ...

Top Indy Tag Team Young Bucks Tease WWE Signing, Heading to NXT

Posted by Joe Johnson On August - 1 - 2014
In the last two days, Nick Jackson, one half of The Young Bucks, has dropped some not-so-subtle hints that he and his brother Matt may be headed to the WWE. They suggest they may be going to NXT and are going after the WWE tag titles. The Bucks are one of the most decorated and celebrated tag teams on the independent scene in years and could be a big catch for the WWE as they seek to reinvigorate the tag team division.  The Bucks have been dripping with gold for much of the last year. They've risen to the point that on most American ...

Breaking Down the Best and Worst of the WWE for Week of July 28

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On August - 1 - 2014
WWE's best moments and matches of the last week of July came courtesy of Dean Ambrose and Stephanie McMahon, steel chairs and lollipops. From SmackDown to NXT, there was plenty for fans to savor on WWE programming. Ambrose delivered two excellent bouts, McMahon channeled her father's heel mastery and Adam Rose had a career high. The latest news of WWE's financial situation tempered the buzz all that created, though. WWE is not in TNA's shoes, worrying that the network that runs their biggest show might not renew its TV deal, but business isn't flourishing at the moment. John Cena deserves an honorable mention for opening Monday's Raw ...
WWE's best social media of the last week of July showcased the many facets of a Superstar. The week's most share-worthy tweets, viral videos and Instagram photos showed WWE's roster overcome with excitement, in destruction mode, making an impact on people's lives and, in Daniel Bryan's case, choking out a burglar.  Randy Orton shared a side of him far different from that of the predator fans see on TV. Brock Lesnar and the San Diego Comic-Con starred in two fun videos.  And WWE's newest addition joined another elite NXT prospect at Full Sail University. The announcement came over the weekend that WWE had signed Prince Devitt ...
Seth Rollins is one of those heels who just seems to need a little work.   The spotlight is there, thanks to a direct association with Triple H and The Authority.  The opportunity is there, as Rollins has been receiving more than his fair share of airtime since turning on his Shield brethren back on June 2.  And the effort is there, as every time he's in the ring, Rollins brings everything he has and then some to his matches. Yet, for many WWE fans, The Authority's golden boy seems to be falling a little flat.   The time to panic may not ...

Brock Lesnar Must Defeat John Cena at SummerSlam

Posted by Tom Clark On August - 1 - 2014
Brock Lesnar is headed on a collision course with John Cena at WWE's SummerSlam event on Sunday, August 17.  The match is for Cena's WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and it's one that many fans are undoubtedly very anxious to see. And while fans are certainly very accustomed to seeing Cena reign supreme in one big match after another, this time may be different.  The fact is that Lesnar must defeat Cena at SummerSlam. From the moment that Triple H shook hands with Lesnar and Paul Heyman, the wrestling world has been buzzing with the news.  After all, Cena had been locked into ...

The Good, the Great and the Awesome from NXT 7/31/14

Posted by Erik Beaston On August - 1 - 2014
Tag team wrestling was at the forefront of the July 31 episode of NXT as The Ascension continued their unprecedented tag title reign, Bull Dempsey and Mojo Rawley rolled over the Mechanics, and a tournament to decide the No. 1 contenders was announced for next week's show. Which team will step up and challenge Konnor and Viktor for the division's top prize? Only time will tell, but the newly formed team of Dempsey and Rawley showed hints that they may provide the powerhouses with their toughest challenge to date should they win the whole thing. Elsewhere on the show, Tyson Kidd's jealousy ...

Examining The Miz’s Chances of Actually Being Hollywood-Bound

Posted by Sharon Glencross On August - 1 - 2014
The Miz's current character is a brash Hollywood wannabe who sees big movies and A-list roles in his future, but what are his chances of actually making a successful transition from wrestling to films one day?  Well, it's a mixed bag, although I lean toward him being one of the few wrestlers who could pull it off. For one thing, he can act. As I noted in my review of The Marine 3: Homefront at the time of its release, he's actually a decent on-screen performer. In fact, he gave The Marine franchise the only good leading performance it's ever had. No wonder WWE ...
