Brock Lesnar’s Success in 2014 Proves Effectiveness of Part-Time Stars

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 29 - 2014
One of the the most common misconceptions in the current pro wrestling landscape is that the part-time stars of the past serve only one purpose: to come back to television for a few weeks in order to pop a pay-per-view buyrate and take the spotlight away from the younger, hungrier stars on the roster. That could not be further from the truth, something the current WWE World Heavyweight champion is proving with every passing week. There was a great deal of criticism surrounding The Rock's return and the fact that his championship run in 2013 not only ended CM Punk's historic reign ...

WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 9/29/2014

Posted by Alex Musso On September - 29 - 2014
In the week after WWE Night of Champions 2014, the WWE Superstar Power Rankings saw quite a bit of movement, especially in the bottom half of the top 10.  We saw Dean Ambrose make his return to Raw, a newly won title lost and much more.  It certainly was a busy week. One interesting note is that Sheamus has, after a seemingly dull summer, climbed back to near the top of the rankings.  And somewhat disappointingly, Randy Orton has again fallen out of the top 10.  It's amazing that a 12-time world champion in the prime of his career isn't making ...

5 Concepts for Shows That Would Help Diversify the WWE Network

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On September - 28 - 2014
The WWE Network has offered a small amount of original content, but it's not enough for many people to pay the monthly fee to subscribe, even if they do get every pay-per-view included. Legends House was funny to some degree, and WWE has always been great at making documentaries about its Superstars, but there is still a major lack of new shows being introduced. With everything WWE has at its disposal, there are a lot of different things it could add to its streaming service to entice more people to pick up a subscription. The shows would have to be about wrestling in ...

Top Contenders Who Deserve a Shot at Brock Lesnar’s WWE Title

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On September - 28 - 2014
Unless John Cena is going to get a third consecutive match against Brock Lesnar, it's time to start looking at who else deserves a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar has been booked as a nearly unbeatable champion, and while some of those who deserve a shot at the belt might not be worthy of defeating Lesnar, there are plenty of big names who could put on a great marquee match with The Beast Incarnate. Some of the names on this list will have faced Lesnar in the past, but most of the roster is filled with wrestlers who have ...

WWE Programming’s Best Match for Week of September 27

Posted by Brad Jones On September - 27 - 2014
There's been plenty of in-ring action worth your time this week, ranging from spirited pay-per-view title defences to exciting television matches you might have missed. Once again, we've seen a range of talent given the chance to shine, and, more often than not, they've made good use of the opportunity.   Honourable Mentions Continuing his run of excellent matches on Superstars, this week saw Justin Gabriel take on Kofi Kingston and once again prove that he has a lot to offer in the ring. The self-styled "4Fiddy" took to Instagram earlier this week to tease his departure from WWE, which would be a ...
Capped off by a battle of the brutes as Big Show squared off with Rusev, Friday's SmackDown was a much better, more focused and entertaining show than Monday night's lackluster and lethargic Raw. Dean Ambrose continued to build momentum following his return at Night of Champions by rolling into SmackDown and rolling through The Miz, with whom he had a physical confrontation on Tuesday night's WWE Network presentation of Main Event. As one would expect, Seth Rollins and Kane made their presences felt, but neither got the last laugh. Cesaro turned in a great showing during Friday's broadcast, winning a Battle Royal ...

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights for September 26

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On September - 26 - 2014
Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show. I also provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. The last few weeks of SmackDown have been either bad or mediocre, but that all changed this week. Not only were most of the matches very entertaining, but every segment felt like it had time to breathe. SmackDown is usually known as the B-show, but it definitely outshone Raw this week. Only one match fell short, and you can probably guess ...

WWE’s Top Tweets, Instagram Photos and Viral Videos for Week of Sept. 22

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2014
WWE's best social media traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, WCW and the world of video games. A legendary announcer posed for a pic. WWE reflected on the past. A peek at WWE 2K15 stirred up interest. New titleholders crowned at Night of Champions joined in the fun of being the center of the top tweets, Instagram photos and viral videos as well. We start first, though, with an unlikely subject—Owen Hart. WWE tends to not mention the late wrestler, his name bringing up memories of controversy and tragedy. In a new Five Things video, the company didn't shy away from honoring Hart's legacy, although it ...
