Roman Reigns’ Injury Creates Much-Needed Sympathy for Character

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On September - 26 - 2014
Roman Reigns suffered an untimely and unfortunate hernia injury and will be out of action for four to six weeks according to WWE.com's Zach Linder and Brian Pellegatto. The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlingInc.com), WWE had preliminary plans in place to book Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 31. Reigns should be back well before WrestleMania, but as Dolph Ziggler can attest, nothing is guaranteed in WWE, especially to those who miss time with injury.  In the information age, where these reports travel quickly, fans were beginning to become ...

Breaking Down the Best and Worst of the WWE for Week of Sept. 22

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2014
The best WWE action of the week came courtesy of a melee, a maniac and a man's public suffering. Sheamus remains U.S. champion after delivering a wow-worthy brawl. Mark Henry flourished as an in-ring actor. Dean Ambrose once again made being unhinged must-watch TV.  Those three men were a part of the biggest highlights of Night of Champions, Raw and Main Event. That pay-per-view ended with a letdown, WWE clumsily working out of the corner it booked itself into. The next night, Dolph Ziggler ended The Miz's Intercontinental Championship reign at just a single day. As great as their match was, it's hot-potatoing the ...

WWE Is Succeeding with Its Early Presentation of Hideo Itami

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2014
WWE has stitched a fine red carpet for Hideo Itami, setting him up for success. To introduce the Japanese star previously known as KENTA to NXT and WWE fans, the company has taken to providing plenty of fanfare and presenting him in small doses. It's a strategy that is working in its early stages.  Diehard wrestling fans knew who Itami was long ago. The kind of fans who scour YouTube for every drop of greatness produced in wrestling rings around the world had already seen his work at Pro Wrestling Noah. That small segment of the population was not whom WWE had to worry about ...

Former TNA Star Jesse Neal Addresses Walmart Tweet, WWE Military Memories, More

Posted by Chris Featherstone On September - 26 - 2014
On this week's Pancakes and Powerslams show, I had the pleasure of interviewing former TNA star Jesse Neal. Many were wondering what prompted his TNA release, and questions still loomed around a tweet he composed earlier this year.   Wrestling Memories in the Military: We would always get together at my house, a bunch of engineers and I. We'd always meet up at my house. They'd bring the food, I'd pay for the pay-per-view, watch WWE all the time. I'd be running around my apartment with my Triple H jersey on, just having a good time, man. We had a blast. Having some good ...

A Feud Between John Cena and Dean Ambrose Is Inevitable

Posted by Tom Clark On September - 26 - 2014
John Cena and Dean Ambrose crossed paths on the September 22 edition of Monday Night Raw.  Each man was out for revenge against Seth Rollins, who has been in an intense rivalry with Ambrose and essentially cost Cena the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions. While Cena and Ambrose were on the same page during Raw and wanted nothing more than to get at Rollins, many fans are likely wondering how long this uneasy alliance will last.  Indeed, it could very well be that a feud between Ambrose and Cena is inevitable. Fans are aware of the history that exists ...

WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Most Intriguing Storylines to Track on Road to PPV

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On September - 26 - 2014
Author’s Note: This article contains SmackDown Spoilers for the episode set to air Friday, September 26. WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 will see several climactic finishes to long-term feuds while simultaneously featuring new rivalries. WWE’s premier longstanding rivalry features Brock Lesnar and John Cena. Nothing was done to advance this feud on Raw, but given how their match ended at Night of Champions it would be surprising if there was no follow-up at Hell in a Cell. Lesnar and Cena have captured lightning in a bottle together, and every match has a tense, magnetic feel to it. A Hell in a Cell ...

WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 25

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 26 - 2014
The September 25 episode of NXT is in the books, and the future of the brand is looking brighter and brighter thanks in large part to strong performances from bright young stars and some solid booking on the part of management. The Lucha Ninjas, Sin Cara and Kalisto, are still tag team champions following a successful title defense against former titleholders The Ascension. Their win solidifies them as the new faces of the tag division. Alexa Bliss turned in a strong performance against Bayley, cutting a quick pace and hanging move-for-move with the top contender to Charlotte's NXT Women's Championship. Tyson Kidd continued ...

Dolph Ziggler and The Miz Flip-Flopping the Intercontinental Title Means Nothing

Posted by Sebastian Maldonado On September - 26 - 2014
Dolph Ziggler and The Miz have a nice gestating feud going for the Intercontinental Title. It’s a shame that the title itself is being booked poorly. Let’s trace and examine this feud from the beginning. It started at WWE Battleground, July 20, where Miz eliminated Ziggler last to win the title for the third time. That led to their SummerSlam opener on August 17, where Ziggler won the Intercontinental title in a hard-fought contest. The story being told for this feud is two men unwilling to let the other get the last laugh. During their feud, The Miz employed Damien Sandow as ...

WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from September 25

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 25 - 2014
The September 25 episode of NXT was one of redemption for some of the brand's top young stars. After falling short of victory at Takeover, they had the opportunity to atone for their losses in some high-profile rematches. The Ascension attempted to defeat the much smaller Lucha Dragons and regain the tag team titles they had previously held for nearly a year. With their recent interactions with newcomer Hideo Itami fresh in their minds, would they be able to focus on their title opportunity and down the high flyers, or would they be distracted, allowing Sin Cara and Kalisto to deliver ...
