WWE Survivor Series 2014: Results That Built Momentum for Royal Rumble

Posted by Sharon Glencross On November - 26 - 2014
Sunday's Survivor Series pay-per-view marked the beginning of WWE's build to Royal Rumble and the company's WrestleMania 31 event soon after. The shock debut of WCW icon Sting, in particular, felt like a crucial stepping stone heading into January. The veteran had a tense showdown with Triple H at the St. Louis show, hit him with the Scorpion Death Drop and proceeded to help Team Cena gain the victory—sending The Authority packing once and for all. Clearly, WWE was planting the seeds of an eventual Triple H vs. Sting singles match. Interestingly, the day after the show, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com mentioned that the plan ...

Full Career Retrospective and Greatest Moments for the Honky Tonk Man

Posted by Erik Beaston On November - 26 - 2014
He's got long sideburns and his hair is slicked back, he's coming to your town in a pink Cadillac... For years, fans of World Wrestling Entertainment heard the Honky Tonk Man's theme play over the PA system in arenas, and they reacted with intense jeers and venomous insults. Those same fans paid their hard-earned money to jam-pack arenas in hopes of seeing the wannabe Elvis get his butt kicked. The Honky Tonk Man elicited a passionate response from fans, and even now, some 27 years after the height of his year-long WWE Intercontinental Championship reign, he ranks as one of the greatest ...
1. Follow Up with The Showoff Dolph Ziggler emerges from Survivor Series a hero. WWE put him in a spot we have seen John Cena fight out of so many times. Outnumbered 3-to-1, beaten, worn down, with no chance to save his and and his teammates' jobs, he did the impossible. The choice to have him knock off Kane, Luke Harper and (with some help) Seth Rollins elevates Ziggler. It gives him an outstanding record at Survivor Series. It has him looking every bit like the main event star his fanbase has known he can be. Now comes the follow-up. WWE is need of fresh ...

Shoot Nation, Sami Zayn and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 26 - 2014
The Shoot Nation continues to take shape; Sami Zayn continues to inch away from WWE NXT. Chad Gable's group of black-clad amateur wrestlers is becoming more prominent. They have not made it to NXT TV yet, but they are adding members and have made it clear who the leader is. Zayn, meanwhile, worked another match with his main roster brethren. That's becoming the norm at this point. In other WWE developmental news, William Regal wrapped up a scouting trip and later announced info on the next live NXT special. Zayn is set to be on the marquee for that show. That event would be ...

Examining the Original Gimmicks of WWE’s Past and Present Stars

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On November - 26 - 2014
Finding the right gimmick is a journey in finding the right vehicle for a wrestler's talents, as we have seen with WWE stars like Batista and Dolph Ziggler. For some men, it's taken years for that process to happen. Sometimes that journey has one try on a series of masks and see which one fits: cowboy, vampire, cheerleader, Christmas creature. In hindsight, it seems obvious that Batista should be Batista and Ziggler should be the warrior he is today, but WWE stumbled a lot getting to those points. Looking at the original gimmicks several Superstars had in WWE or developmental is a reminder ...
With The Authority no longer a factor and Daniel Bryan taking over control of World Wrestling Entertainment for the week, the company's Superstars and Divas rolled into Fort Wayne, Indiana, for this week's SmackDown tapings. Bryan wasted little time in continuing to book Team Authority in matches that would force its members into action against Team Cena. Dolph Ziggler, on the heels of one of the finest performances of his career at Sunday's Survivor Series, had the opportunity to wrest the WWE Intercontinental Championship away from Luke Harper. Would he succeed, or would the former Wyatt Family member make it two in ...

Other rumors center on what AJ Lee's loss meant for her future and what happened with what was supposed to air after Survivor Series. We begin with the man who got everyone talking by ensuring ...
