WWE NXT Big Board: Updated Prospect Rankings and Analysis for February 27

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On February - 27 - 2015
As thrilling as the in-ring action is in WWE NXT, the progress of prospects is often just as enthralling. That was the case during the most recent edition of NXT, as Bull Dempsey further embraced viciousness, Jason Jordan forced fans to pay attention and Becky Lynch showed off her submission skills. Many of the top stars sat out or, in Kevin Owens' case, did their fighting outside of the ring. This opened the door for guys such as Jordan to snatch the spotlight. The stories and battles that unfolded at Full Sail University reminded fans of the abundance of athleticism that is there right now. It also provided ...

NXT Is Fueling Current Divas Movement

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On February - 27 - 2015
WWE is unfair to its Divas. At least that's the narrative that's sweeping across social media, catching the attention Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and everybody in between.  There's a women's liberation movement in WWE, but it couldn't have come at a worse time for the veterans. The NXT Divas, not their main roster counterparts, are primed to reap the rewards. Divas getting their time cut on Raw and being treated as secondary acts is old hat. Since the end of the Attitude Era, the Divas have precipitously declined in prestige. The WWE Network has several instances where current and former talent speak lovingly ...

Ranking the 10 Best Matches of Wade Barrett’s WWE Career

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On February - 27 - 2015
On February 23, 2010, Wade "Bad News" Barrett made his debut appearance in WWE a part of the inaugural season of NXT. A standout from the start, he went on to win the competition and earn a spot on the main roster. From leading The Nexus to prominence to capturing the Intercontinental Championship on five separate occasions, Barrett has accumulated much success in the last five years. Of course, with all the highs have come the lows, including two injuries that have kept him out of action for months on end. Barrett is a prime example of a Superstar with whom company ...

Brock Lesnar Has Cemented His Legacy with Current WWE Run

Posted by Brad Jones On February - 27 - 2015
Over the past year, Brock Lesnar has established himself as one of the most dominant WWE Superstars of all time. He's conquered the Undertaker's streak, disassembled John Cena and managed to rack up the longest WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign since CM Punk's 434 days with the belt around his waist. He's a bona fide legend—but ahead of his return, that wasn't the case. After a meteoric rise to the upper echelons of WWE, Lesnar left the company less than two years after making his debut. In that time, he had picked up wins over the Rock, Kurt Angle and the Undertaker ...

WWE WrestleMania 31: Best Potential NXT Matches at Showcase PPV

Posted by Aaron Bower On February - 27 - 2015
As its popularity grows and grows, discussion will inevitably take place about how the NXT brand can continue to thrive in the WWE. The WWE has resisted bringing up any heavyweight talent to the main roster over the last couple of months, with an intention to clearly try and allow the brand to stand on its own two feet. But with WWE WrestleMania 31 rapidly approaching, could the WWE incorporate the hottest new thing in professional wrestling into its most important card of the year? There's certainly a potential to do so. After all, WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year in ...

WWE WrestleMania 2015: Titles Most Likely to Change Hands at Event

Posted by Donald Wood On February - 27 - 2015
Now that the 2015 edition of WWE’s Fastlane is in the books, the focus for the majority of wrestling fans has shifted to WrestleMania 31 and the titles most likely to change hands at the event. With Brock Lesnar defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns and John Cena likely getting another shot at the United States Championship, there are several major title changes possible. Here are the belts most likely to change hands at the 2015 WrestleMania pay-per-view.   WWE World Heavyweight Championship Despite serious fan backlash following his win at the 2015 Royal Rumble, Reigns is the WWE’s hand-chosen star of ...
The WWE hype machine is on the verge of kicking into full gear with WrestleMania 31 just around the corner.  The company's biggest night of the year promises to be full of drama and intensity as only Vince McMahon's creation can deliver.   But this time around, there is much more hanging in the balance than the usual showcase of high-profile matches.  WrestleMania 31 must be the beginning of a new era for WWE. "The future is now."  Fans have heard the mantra repeated for quite a while in WWE circles, but it's caught fire over the past two years. The immediate future ...

WWE SmackDown Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 26

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On February - 27 - 2015
Every week on Bleacher Report, I take an in-depth look at WWE SmackDown to recap the action, offer analysis and grade the matches, segments and anything else that takes place on the show. I also provide some predictions on the direction of storylines. This week's show had two main focus points: Concluding the fallout from Fastlane and continuing the build toward WrestleMania 31. Just about every feud going on right now was addressed in some way, and it ended up leading to most of the matches not having nearly enough time. However, two bouts were entertaining enough to keep the show from being a ...
On Thursday, WWE announced that current Intercontinental champion Bad News Barrett will have to defend his title at WrestleMania 31 in a ladder match. The company didn't reveal the full list of participants, instead saying on Facebook that he'll be facing "multiple WWE Superstar opponents." Although no names have been confirmed, it's not too hard to guess a few names who will be included. Dean Ambrose is a safe bet after he stole the physical Intercontinental Championship belt from Barrett at Fastlane. Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth seem likely combatants as well after Ziggler beat Barrett on Monday's Raw, while R-Truth was on commentary ...

Rey Mysterio Released by WWE: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction

Posted by Joseph Zucker On February - 26 - 2015
The WWE confirmed that Rey Mysterio is no longer a member of the company on Thursday, per Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. Many fans were tipped off to the news when WWE subtly moved Mysterio's WWE.com profile from the "Superstars" section to the "Alumni" page. Between that and the infrequency with which he's been on WWE television, it wasn't hard to see the writing on the wall. Mysterio's last appearance came on the night after WrestleMania XXX. On the April 6, 2014 edition of Raw, he lost to Bad News Barrett. Wrestling Facts provided his in-ring statistics from his time with the company: He'd made ...
