Vince McMahon isn't the cure-all for all that has ailed WWE Raw for months. The marquee shows' numbers have trended in the right direction with McMahon on board, but WWE can't now make the corrupt chairman its focal point. The hype around his return won't last. Roman Reigns can't be a secondary character in a retread of an old narrative. WWE will be tempted to position Mr. McMahon on center stage and leave him there, though. The two times he stepped on-screen, the ratings went up. As seen on Gerweck.net, Raw did a 2.66 rating on Dec. 14 and a 2.47 on Dec. 28. That's after ...

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 4 - 2016
Roman Reigns will kick off the year in the lion's den as WWE Raw pits him against Sheamus with The League of Nations lurking and Vince McMahon donning referee stripes. Reigns spent much of 2015 trying to wins fans over and snatch up the world title. He begins 2016 as the man atop the mountain, looking to build momentum en route to a likely WrestleMania main event. First off, though, he has a WWE World Heavyweight Championship title match in front of him against an increasingly familiar foe. McMahon set up this contest last week and named himself the special guest referee. That hints at ...

WWE Superstar Power Rankings for 1/4/2016

Posted by Alex Musso On January - 4 - 2016
2016 is under way, and after WWE wrapped up 2015, the first WWE Superstar Power Rankings of the year have seen a few spots changed.  Roman Reigns still stands at No. 1, with Dean Ambrose, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and The Wyatt Family rounding out the top five spots. The week also brought a bad end for The Authority.  With Triple H still away following his beating at the hands of Roman Reigns, Vince McMahon returned to assert his control over the company.  That ended badly for McMahon this past week, as he found himself under arrest.  More on that later, ...

WWE Programming’s Best Matches for Week of December 26

Posted by Brad Jones On January - 2 - 2016
Last week, Bleacher Report readers named a Triple Threat match between Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler as the best bout of the week—which shouldn't be too much of a surprise given the pedigree of all three competitors. Ziggler has long been considered one of the most dependable in-ring performers in WWE, and as such he has regularly been depended upon to deliver top-notch television matches on a weekly basis. Meanwhile, Owens and Ambrose have increasingly been used in the same manner over the last few years. It's important to have charismatic Superstars fans can rally behind and mic masters who ...
For Tyler Breeze, 2015 was a year of ups and downs. On NXT, he was always treated like a top talent, regardless of how many wins or losses he incurred. Fans believed in him because of the level of wrestler he was, and the fact that booking always supported him as an elite Superstar helped with that. But that did not change the fact that he sat back and watched as wrestler after wrestler was called up to the main roster while he was stuck in the same position, with no real upward or downward mobility. That changed with his promotion to the ...

WWE New Year’s Revolution: Best and Worst Moments in PPV’s History

Posted by Erik Beaston On January - 1 - 2016
For a three-year period, New Year's Revolution was a pay-per-view event that kicked off WWE's year, setting the stage for the Royal Rumble later in January.  A Raw exclusive event, it unfortunately suffered from a depleted roster and thus typically featured a Superstar or two who had no business appearing on a pay-per-view card. Yet the undercard was never really the focus of the show. Instead, it was a broadcast sold on the main event—usually a high-profile championship bout. And with good reason. The first two years in the event's three-year existence saw the WWE Championship change hands to cap off the show and get ...
