20 Classic Matches Every WWE Fan Should See

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On May - 26 - 2016
WWE has produced countless matches in the decades since it was founded, and many of them have earned legendary status among fans for different reasons. Some bouts are special because they stand out as a significant moment in history, while others are revered for being technical masterpieces. Many matches are remembered for their brutality, and some are fan favorites because of one specific moment which stands out. With all the things keeping us busy these days, we don't always have time to discover hidden gems, revisit some of our favorite matches or look up the bouts we always hear about from others, even ...
Pro wrestling's closed curtain held a treasure trove of secrets; Dave Meltzer peeled that curtain open, busily scribbling notes about what he saw. The veteran journalist has covered wrestling for decades, sharing the backstage machinations of a once closed-mouth industry with his readers. Behind-the-scenes politics, storylines in the works and the business side of the squared circle were all fair game. "I was just out looking to tell the truth about wrestling," Meltzer told Bleacher Report. Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter remains a key source for wrestling news. The business it has long covered has changed—and so has the publication itself. Rather than in a printed ...

WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from May 25

Posted by Erik Beaston On May - 26 - 2016
Nia Jax may have won the Triple Threat No. 1 Contender's match Wednesday night, thus cashing her ticket to TakeOver and a showdown with Asuka, but her two opponents emerged as the biggest winners from the May 25 episode of NXT. Alexa Bliss has spent the better part of six months as the most underappreciated wrestler on the NXT roster, a performer whose understanding and execution of facial expressions and body language is as integral to the quality of her work as her actual in-ring exploits. So good yet so underutilized, her lack of presence on the brand's television program is ...
WWE's announcement the company is bringing back the brand split effective from July is a move that raises more questions than answers—but the most pressing one concerns the future of all the active championships on the main roster. Questions of whether the main titles should be split into two different entities are being raised, and some are asking which championships are headed where when Raw and SmackDown branch out on their own. So with five active titles, what is going to happen to them all?   The Tag Team Championships Like in the past, there could be a temptation to have tag team champions ...
The upcoming TakeOver continued to take shape Wednesday night on NXT as a No. 1 contender to the NXT Women's Championship was determined in a huge Triple Threat main event, and a match between two of the best wrestlers on the planet was set in stone. Nia Jax decisively defeated Bayley last week, but in order to achieve the Women's Championship match she believes she deserves, she would have to defeat Alexa Bliss and Carmella, two competitors riding a wave of momentum into Wednesday's marquee bout. One week after teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura to defeat Murphy and Blake, Austin Aries returned to ...
Zack Sabre Jr.'s health and Deonna Purrazzo's future headline the week's WWE NXT news. Word of Sabre suffering an injury had fans worried about whether he would be ready to go once the Cruiserweight Classic came about. The update on his condition will quell that worry. The British submission artist won't be sidelined for long. As for Purrazzo, she is still not a full-time member of the developmental brand, but a recent interview provided a peek at her relationship with WWE. In other stories, NXT added to its team of announcers, several potential prospects tried out at the WWE Performance Center and the ...
1. Solo Charlotte (Sort of) In one motion, Charlotte set a crutch aside and stepped free of a shadow. The WWE women's champ broke away from Ric Flair on Monday's Raw, leaving her father in tears after a scathing promo. One could nitpick the execution and timing of that moment—but not the end result. Charlotte emerged looking more heartless and will soon have the opportunity to thrive on her own, to develop her character outside of her connection with her Hall of Fame father. Dana Brooke is now playing the champ's enforcer it seems, but her shadow is not nearly as dark as ...

The Miz’s Best Booking Options Leading Up to WWE Money in the Bank 2016

Posted by Sebastian Maldonado On May - 25 - 2016
WWE Extreme Rules was full of surprises, and the Fatal 4-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship was no exception. The Miz had to defend his title against Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Cesaro. In a very competitive bout, Zayn nearly kicked Cesaro’s head off in the far corner. Before he could pin the Swiss Superman, Owens pulled Zayn out of the ring, allowing The Miz to cover Cesaro for the victory. Despite the outcome, it was a clean victory. Much to the chagrin of WWE’s fans and his opponents, The Miz took advantage of Zayn’s kick and retained his title. The Miz walked ...
If AJ Styles fans were worried about where he was headed next after Sunday's loss at WWE Extreme Rules 2016, then the events on Raw 24 hours later will have had them pressing the panic button. What should have been a scintillating few weeks followed by a bright future has quickly turned into a virtual drift into limbo. The disastrous booking of The Club, some soft defeats to Roman Reigns and a failure to qualify for the Money in the Bank match have fans wondering what's next. But where is Styles headed? Well, we've touched on them already, but if WWE is smart ...
