WWE Raw: Live Results, Reaction and Analysis for September 26

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On September - 26 - 2016
Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of the September 26 episode of Raw. Sunday's Clash of Champions pay-per-view featured some great action, but many of the results left fans scratching their heads. Cesaro and Sheamus didn't settle their feud, Chris Jericho helped Kevin Owens retain the Universal Championship, and The Club failed to win the tag titles once again. The only title we saw change hands was the United States Championship, with Roman Reigns defeating Rusev and cementing himself as a member of WWE's Triple Crown club. WWE.com has confirmed Rusev will challenge Reigns for the U.S. title, and The New Day will defend ...

WWE Hell in a Cell 2016: Full Card Predictions After Clash of Champions PPV

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2016
WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 is poised to be the continuation of several stories that Clash of Champions left unfinished. Sami Zayn didn't take down Chris Jericho on Raw's first brand-exclusive pay-per-view since the July draft. Brian Kendrick refused to accept his loss to T.J. Perkins with humility. The collision between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins ended in controversy, confusion and a stack of questions. All that will spell Clash of Champions rematches galore when WWE unveils Hell in a Cell on Oct. 30.  WWE does have five weeks' worth of Raw in between the two events, so there will be time for ...

WWE Clash of Champions 2016 Results: Biggest Winners and Losers from Event

Posted by Erik Beaston On September - 26 - 2016
In hindsight, WWE Creative should have understood the lack of emotional backstory to many of Sunday night's Clash of Champions matches and changed up Raw's storylines to ensure that the show was more memorable and exciting that it appeared on paper. Failure to do so resulted in an event that at best featured solid wrestling up and down the card but was little more than a bloated episode of Raw. WWE Creative deserves the blame for what can best be described as a missed opportunity, a failure of a followup to SmackDown's acclaimed Backlash pay-per-view from two weeks earlier. The writing team's inability ...

What Raw Can Learn from SmackDown After Uneven WWE Clash of Champions 2016

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2016
For all its thrills and foot-on-the-gas action, Sunday's WWE Clash of Champions 2016 failed to make the mark on the audience that SmackDown's Backlash did two weeks prior. Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins' battle for the WWE Universal Championship should have been more satisfying, but all the powerbombs and dives got lost in a storm of overwrought drama. The writing got in the way of the wrestlers, which was the night's running theme. Raw's first brand-exclusive pay-per-view featured better matches and a deeper lineup but couldn't keep up with SmackDown in terms of storytelling. Backlash outdid Clash of Champions by way of clearer narratives and ...

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins: What’s Next After WWE Clash of Champions 2016?

Posted by Graham GSM Matthews On September - 26 - 2016
Sunday night's WWE Clash of Champions 2016 featured a fantastic main event in which Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins battled over the WWE Universal Championship. Owens emerged with his title intact, leaving fans asking what's next for both Raw stars. Rollins hasn't had the most impressive pay-per-view record since returning to the ring earlier this year, stacking up losses to the likes of Dean Ambrose, Finn Balor and now Owens. His latest shortcoming at Clash of Champions knocked him yet another step down the totem pole on the Raw roster. But it should be noted that Rollins was on the verge of victory ...

WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for Sept. 26

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On September - 26 - 2016
The controversy that upended the Clash of Champions pay-per-view on Sunday will spill over onto WWE Raw. WWE has to be hoping that's enough to avoid a further drop in ratings. Monday Night Football and the first presidential debate are set to provide hearty competition. Raw will counter with the story of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon seemingly conspiring to keep Seth Rollins away from the WWE Universal Championship. Kevin Owens retained the title at the PPV thanks to interference, an unconscious referee not seeing a pinfall and general chaos. Roman Reigns has a United States Championship victory to celebrate, the cruiserweights are sure to have ...

WWE Superstar Power Rankings Ahead of Sept. 26 Raw

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On September - 26 - 2016
Coming out of Sunday's Clash of Champions and a newsworthy week of WWE television, shakeups in the power rankings were inevitable. Kevin Owens retained his Universal Championship, but was he hurt by a litany of help? Did Roman Reigns' United States Championship victory bump him up the list, or will his new role as a midcarder hurt his stature? SmackDown is also well-represented on this list as the blue brand prepares for its second solo pay-per-view, Oct. 9's No Mercy. Dean Ambrose notched a rare victory over John Cena on television, but was that enough to pull the former WWE world champion ...
Roman Reigns' lightning-rod tour just made a stop at the midcard. After a victory over Rusev at Clash of Champions, Reigns captured his first WWE United States Championship. Coming off a series of unsuccessful attempts at the world title, Reigns can now be a big dog in a smaller yard. "The U.S. title win would seem to keep Reigns occupied and out of the WWE Universal Championship picture," said Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net. As fans saw when John Cena held the U.S. title, having a perennial main eventer hold a secondary championship can elevate its status to the level of the world title. With ...
