WWE Hell in a Cell 2016: B/R Expert Match Predictions and Analysis

Posted by James Moffat On October - 28 - 2016
WWE Hell in a Cell 2016, on paper, could be the most exciting pay-per-view of the year. It could also be the most historic. Not only are there three matches inside Hell in a Cell on Sunday, but Raw women's champion Sasha Banks and Charlotte are set to become the first women to do battle inside the structure. In addition, the three HIAC matches are being billed as a triple main event, and speculation has ramped up that the women's championship match will be the final match of the evening.  If that were to happen, Banks and Charlotte would become the first ...

AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose and the Best WWE Matches for Week of Oct. 27

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On October - 27 - 2016
Storytelling led WWE SmackDown to another victory over Raw, this time courtesy of AJ Styles locking horns with Dean Ambrose. Monday's Raw featured talented performers doing what they do best. Cesaro clubbed his foes with uppercuts. Rich Swann soared around the ring. And Kevin Owens punished his opponent both physically and verbally. But it was Styles and Ambrose's latest collision that was the week's best bout. Ambrose causing his own demise, his stunned look once he realized what happened and the slimy Styles slipping away again all made for an outstanding main event on Tuesday night. Creative booking and a story that continues to ...

WWE Raw vs. SmackDown: Analyzing Who Won the Week of October 24

Posted by Erik Beaston On October - 27 - 2016
The build to Survivor Series in November almost trumped the importance of Hell in a Cell this week, as the Raw brand appeared to sleepwalk through its final attempt to generate hype and SmackDown focused primarily on planting the seeds for the annual fall spectacular. Championship opportunities were up for grabs and Superstars jockeyed for position ahead of the November extravaganza, resulting in an episode of Raw that limped across the proverbial finish line. Would SmackDown Live be able to capitalize and even up the scorecard with its competitor?      Match Quality Raw once again scored the dominant victory in this field on ...
Raw potential was everywhere on Wednesday's WWE NXT. The little-known and on-the-rise prospects of the developmental brand showed flashes of what they could become. Noah Potjes impressed in a loss to Tye Dillinger. The touted Chinese talent Tian Bing caught eyes in his NXT debut. And even with only a short time in the ring on Wednesday night, Aliyah once again looked like she's poised to be a major player in the women's division. These aren't NXT stars right now; they all played stepping stones for others. The talk of the latest show will be about established names like Asuka and Samoa Joe, but future-minded ...
After a grand rollout of its biggest storyline last week, the Brock Lesnar-Goldberg angle took a nosedive this past week on Raw. Despite his best efforts, ineffective heel and beloved manager Paul Heyman couldn't get Lesnar's hometown fans to chant for Goldberg. Vince McMahon reportedly ended the segment early, per F4WOnline (h/t WrestlingInc.com), and now the promotion could be faced with a similar nightmare scenario of Goldberg getting booed out of Canada. Although I think this program will deliver, there is a very real chance Goldberg-Lesnar falls flat. Then what?      The Great Wait Yes. It just takes time. WWE is very cyclical ...
WWE Hell in a Cell is just a matter of days away, and talk is growing about what fans may encounter at this Sunday's show. But beyond HIAC and the usual predictions online about who will win what, there are plenty of other interesting rumors and speculation doing the rounds. This week's roundup features the latest on a surprising heel turn for one big SmackDown star, as well as the latest from NXT. That, plus perhaps the biggest talking point as Hell in a Cell approaches, all highlight this week's rumor roundup.Begin Slideshow

John Cena’s Absence from WWE SmackDown Has Been Blessing in Disguise

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On October - 27 - 2016
Without John Cena to plug into the headliner role, WWE SmackDown has been forced to get creative, reaching deep into its toolbox for the most unexpected of implements.  Bolstered by first-rate storytelling, the blue brand has thrived without its biggest household name. A tale WWE may not have ever crafted with Cena in tow has taken center stage. Dean Ambrose has looked to claim the WWE World Championship from AJ Styles by needling and flustering the champ. Meek, chinless weakling James Ellsworth has been key to that quest as a pawn and proxy.  With this surprising, odd narrative at the forefront, SmackDown has outpaced ...

WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from October 26

Posted by Erik Beaston On October - 27 - 2016
The October 26 episode of NXT brought the brand out of the stagnancy that had dominated it for well over a month and began the march to TakeOver: Toronto with several hot angles and a major revelation. Factor in another strong performance from DIY's Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, as well as a great main event featuring WWE Cruiserweight champion T.J. Perkins, and you have the elements of a fantastic WWE Network broadcast. Which Superstars from Wednesday's show emerged the winners of the night, and who struggled?   Biggest Winner: Asuka The revelation of Mickie James as Asuka's TakeOver: Toronto opponent did more to explain ...
There was a time when Hell in a Cell was a match reserved only for the most intense rivalries, the final destination for wrestling's greatest feuds. Sunday night, Raw will present a pay-per-view sharing the name of the popular gimmick match, headlined by three separate main events, none with the sheer hatred that accompanied the contest in the past. The likelihood that moments are created that help define the current era of the contest is high, particularly in the Women's Championship bout pitting Sasha Banks against Charlotte. Yet there will still be those who point to the past and the moments delivered ...
The Dusty Rhodes Classic tag team tournament may have taken center stage, with two high-profile matches on this week's show, but it was the announcement of a huge championship encounter for TakeOver: Toronto that dominated headlines. Mickie James appeared on WWE programming for the first time since 2010, as she was revealed as Asuka's opponent, the brand's latest hope in dethroning the Empress of Tomorrow as the top star in women's wrestling. The continuation of the Tye Dillinger-Bobby Roode feud and Billie Kay and Peyton Royce's quest for dominance rounded out the latest episode of the brand's WWE Network broadcast. Now, find out ...
