WWE SmackDown: Burning Questions to Address After Oct. 25 Show

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On October - 26 - 2016
WWE SmackDown is already in the Survivor Series spirit. The biggest questions that emerged about the blue brand after Tuesday's show are all about alliances. Is the James Ellsworth-Dean Ambrose connection alive and well after the former upended The Lunatic Fringe's title hopes? Is Randy Orton now one of Bray Wyatt's followers? Is The Spirit Squad going to hang around until the Nov. 20 pay-per-view and beyond?  And Nikki Bella garnered a captain's role for Survivor Series, but which of SmackDown's women will join her?   Tuesday's SmackDown excelled at creating suspense. The bulk of these questions aren't a result of confusion as much ...

WWE Survivor Series 2016: Greatest Title Matches in PPV’s History

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On October - 26 - 2016
A return to tradition at WWE Survivor Series 2016 will likely leave the list of greatest championship matches in the pay-per-view's history untouched. Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and Batista can all rest easy. The event began as a showcase of tag team wrestling in 1987. Squads collided in elimination bouts. Titles weren't defended. Survivor Series has since strayed from its roots, but the ongoing battle between Raw and SmackDown is going to change that. The brands will clash in traditional Survivor Series matches. Tag team competition will presumably take precedence over championships. Just like the old days. That lessens the likelihood that the Nov. ...
1. The Viper Finds His Den? A single RKO birthed a wealth of narrative possibilities in the Randy Orton-Wyatt Family feud. Alongside Kane, Orton looked ready to pounce on Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper on Tuesday's SmackDown. Finally, the frustrated hero would get to put his enemies on their backs. Or at least, that's what the audience expected to see. Instead, The Viper struck his own partner with his signature move. Confusion filled the arena as Orton left Kane out cold, leaving him vulnerable, a ready-made victim for The Wyatt Family. Orton only offered minimal explanation in an interview soon after. He said, "If you ...
Hell in a Cell was once the most vaunted, hate-filled gimmick bout, but now, it is at the heart of a special October pay-per-view aimed at spiking interest in the product during the doldrums of the fall. With championships up for grabs and some of the most heated rivalries on the Raw brand figuring to come to an end, the show could prove pivotal as WWE braces for the road to Survivor Series this November. What matches can fans expect to see on Oct. 30? Where can they check out the monumental broadcast?                  Triple Main Event It ...
The Oct. 25 episode of WWE SmackDown Live was one dedicated to the buildup toward Survivor Series. No longer in a holding pattern post-No Mercy, the brand is looking toward Nov. 20 and the annual extravaganza. AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose battled in a match with championship implications, several Superstars waged war for the right to represent the brand in its upcoming battles with Raw and the rivalry between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt took an interesting turn. Which Superstar earned "biggest winner" status, with his contributions to the show earning him great momentum?                    Biggest Winner: Randy ...
"High stakes" was the theme of Tuesday's WWE SmackDown Live, as three of the night's matches had much to offer the winner. For Dean Ambrose, his match with AJ Styles presented him the opportunity to challenge for the WWE World Championship that has consumed him in 2016. The Hype Bros chased the chance to appear on Team SmackDown at Survivor Series, as did Nikki Bella and Natalya. Heath Slater and Rhyno each wanted to retain the tag titles as they battled The Spirit Squad, and Becky Lynch made a much-appreciated return to the brand. How did those stars fare, and what came of their quests? Take ...

WWE World champion AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose Tuesday on SmackDown Live via disqualification and denied the Lunatic Fringe an opportunity to vie for his title in the process. WWE provided the reactions of Ambrose and James Ellsworth to the result: Ellsworth had hit Styles with a superkick, causing the DQ and The Lunatic Fringe's championship opportunity vanished, via WWE: Bleacher Report's Kevin Berge praised WWE for the booking in this match: During the two weeks leading up to Tuesday's match, Ambrose did everything possible to get under the Phenomenal One's skin. Styles jokingly gave James Ellsworth a match two weeks ago, but the plan backfired when ...

After a few weeks on the shelf, WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch made her return to WWE programming Tuesday night on SmackDown Live.   The WWE Universe welcomed her back:  Lynch would be joined in the ring by Alexa Bliss, and her nemesis accused her of having back surgery, which Lynch denied, via WWE:  The two eventually started to fight, and Bliss would ultimately be the one standing tall, spraying yellow paint down Lynch's spine, via WWE: The Lass Kicker was slated to defend her title against Bliss at No Mercy, but an undisclosed ailment kept her from competing. As seen in this tweet ...

Bray Wyatt vs. Kane: Winner and Reaction from WWE SmackDown

Posted by Mike Chiari On October - 25 - 2016
Bray Wyatt continued his recent roll Tuesday night on SmackDown Live, as he defeated Kane in a No Disqualification match.  After a back-and-forth match, Randy Orton ran down to the ring as Kane delivered a chokeslam on Wyatt. Orton would then shockingly hit Kane with an RKO, as WWE shared: Even Wyatt was shocked at Orton's decision, via WWE Universe:  The rivalry between the Eater of Worlds and the Big Red Monster has intensified as of late due in part to Wyatt seemingly abducting Kane a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown. During a tag team match pitting Wyatt and Luke Harper against Kane and Orton, ...
