Posted by Aaron Bower On November - 21 - 2016
The wrestling world is still in shock from the main event of Sunday's WWE Survivor Series 2016 pay-per-view, as Goldberg stunned everyone by destroying Brock Lesnar. But aside from that explosive—albeit short—main event, there were plenty of other winners and losers on the night, too. The three traditional Survivor Series matches gave birth to new stars and renewed hopes that big names like Bray Wyatt can begin to scale the ladder on SmackDown. Elsewhere, The Miz's success over Sami Zayn makes him one of the night's big winners. But who else prevailed? And who had a night to forget? Here's a look at the ...
The Survivor Series has been a staple of the WWE pay-per-view calendar since 1987, and the Superstars of wrestling's greatest promotion took to the squared circle for the 2016 incarnation on Sunday night. With an advertised main event of Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg and three battles for brand supremacy between Raw and SmackDown Live, there was plenty for fans to sink their teeth into. Which matches, moments, stars and outcomes had fans raving and ranting on Twitter? Let's take a look with this social media recap of the annual extravaganza.   Team SmackDown Triumphs in Chaotic Bout The war between Team Raw and Team SmackDown Live ...
For all the buildup of WWE Survivor Series 2016, many fans were probably expecting the main event between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg to culminate in an epic, biblical clash of the titans. It technically was, but unfortunately, when they did clash, Lesnar didn't get back up for about 90 seconds, and that was all she wrote. Some might be angry. Some might be confused. And that's just the WWE locker room. The most shocking finish of the year has produced a myriad of emotions. But when the dust settles, was it a good or bad thing?               ...

WWE Survivor Series 2016 Winners: Biggest Stars of the Night

Survivor Series is the odd child out of the Big Four pay-per-views. Along with Bragging Rights, it's the only PPV where individual glory matters less than team glory. It's probably the most difficult PPV for new wrestlers to break out and make names for themselves. There's just so much going on, and it's tough to stand out. But it can happen, and it's happened before.  The Undertaker made his debut at Survivor Series in 1990. And Roman Reigns got a lot of mileage out of his Survivor Series performance in 2013, where he dismantled his opponents nearly singlehandedly. Were there any similarly legendary, career ...
After falling to Goldberg 12 years ago at WrestleMania XX, Brock Lesnar suffered the same fate Sunday night at Survivor Series, as he was once again defeated by the former WCW World Heavyweight champion. Goldberg dominated in a match that took under two minutes to complete. WWE shared an image of Goldberg celebrating:  Bleacher Report's WWE Twitter account gave Goldberg a new nickname:  Considering the match resembled more of a squash than epic battle between two legends, the reaction was one of shock. Bleacher Report's Ryan Dilbert put it bluntly:  Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald was in awe of the result, just like ...
The SmackDown men's team defeated the Raw men's team Sunday night at Survivor Series in a traditional five-on-five elimination match with Bray Wyatt pinning Roman Reigns.  WWE Universe shared a photo of Wyatt, Randy Orton and Luke Harper after the win: It was a match that featured over an hour of action and had plenty of memorable moments.  James Ellsworth eliminated Braun Strowman by grabbing his leg from under the ring as Strowman attempted to re-enter. Since Ellsworth delayed him, Strowman was eliminated because of a count-out. WWE Universe shared Ellsworth's move:  Strowman would get his revenge by launching Ellsworth through a table on ...

WWE Survivor Series 2016 Review: Top Highlights and Low Points

Posted by Anthony Mango On November - 20 - 2016
Survivor Series is one of WWE's biggest pay-per-views of the year, normally setting the pace for the events to come with the Royal Rumble and Road to WrestleMania. This year, another element was added to the mix as Raw and SmackDown were set to battle it out by pitting their rosters against each other in a hybrid of good, clean sportsmanship alongside bitter rivalry. Both brands wanted to succeed in ending 2016 as the dominant show, which is easier said than done when everything depends on unstable groups of wrestlers having to work together. Outside of the three Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match ...
Brian Kendrick defeated Kalisto on Sunday night at Survivor Series via disqualification to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and ensure that the cruiserweight division will remain on Raw. The match ended in a DQ after Baron Corbin emerged and attacked Kalisto with the End of Days. WWE Universe shared an image of Kendrick with his belt: Raw general manager Mick Foley thanked Corbin for getting involved in the match: On the other side, SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan was not happy with Corbin after the match, per WWE Universe: Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald summed up his thoughts on the decision to have Corbin get ...

In a battle for tag team supremacy, Raw's five best pairings defeated the five best teams SmackDown had to offer Sunday night at Survivor Series with Cesaro and Sheamus standing tall. WWE described how the match ended:  Cesaro was the clear star of the match, and Wrestling Inc. hoped this was a sign of things to come:  Cesaro would tweet his thoughts on the outcome:  Raw put together an impressive squad led by Raw tag team champions The New Day and filled out by The Club, Sheamus, Cesaro, Enzo Amore, Big Cass and The Shining Stars. SmackDown countered with a strong team of its own anchored ...

The Miz defeated Sami Zayn Sunday at Survivor Series to retain the Intercontinental Championship and keep it on SmackDown Live. WWE described the finish:  Zayn had The Miz in a figure-four leglock when Maryse rang the bell, tricking Zayn into thinking he won. With the match still in progress, The Miz snuck up on a celebrating Zayn to get the pin. Maryse's clever tactics ultimately helped The Miz retain the belt, per WWE: Kevin Berge of Bleacher Report and Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline provided their takes on the match: Maryse would share an Instagram photo of her and The Miz after the match:  Sunday's match was originally scheduled ...
