WWE 205 Live Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from December 20

Posted by The Doctor Chris Mueller On December - 21 - 2016
The Cruiserweight Championship match at Roadblock was fun, but all anyone was talking about the next day was Neville's shocking heel turn. The former NXT champion has struggled to find an identity beyond being a comic-book character come to life since being called up to the main roster, so this character development was needed. The following night on Raw, Neville gave the best promo of his career. He admonished the WWE Universe for only thinking of him as an underdog, and he warned the entire cruiserweight division of his impending arrival on 205 Live. As one of the more muscular competitors in the ...
On the Dec. 20 episode of WWE SmackDown Live, the James Ellsworth experiment came crashing down, and The Lone Wolf made his presence felt. Ellsworth finally received his WWE Championship match against AJ Styles but quickly regretted it. From there, Baron Corbin made his intentions to challenge for the title clear, despite Dolph Ziggler already having a shot following a win on last week's show. That set up a scenario in which two of the premier stars on Tuesday night squared off with championship gold in their sights. Becky Lynch outsmarted Alexa Bliss, The Miz defended the Intercontinental Championship and Dean Ambrose battled ...

James Ellsworth's Cinderella story won't have a happy ending after he lost a WWE world title match to AJ Styles on SmackDown Live Tuesday night.  WWE shared an image of how the quick match finished:  Once the match was over, Styles continued his assault on Ellsworth, via WWE: Eventually, Ellsworth had to be taken off on a stretcher:  Ellsworth first earned a championship opportunity after he beat Styles—with a helping hand from Dean Ambrose—on the Nov. 22 edition of SmackDown: Ellsworth's ego may have grown too large as a result of securing his WWE contract as well as a shot against Styles. Welcome to Bleacher Report's live coverage of the Dec. 20 episode of WWE SmackDown. According to WWE.com, this week's show will see both the WWE and Intercontinental Championships defended. AJ Styles will put the WWE Championship on the line against James Ellsworth, and The Miz will put the IC title up against Apollo Crews. Also being hyped for Tuesday is an appearance by Shooter star and lifelong WWE fan Ryan Phillippe. Following Randy Orton's guest appearance on his show last week, it will be interesting to see if WWE has Phillippe interact with The Viper, especially since Orton is currently embracing the dark side. The first pay-per-view of 2017 will ...
Even though most of WWE's roster is headed for the traditional Royal Rumble match at the company's next pay-per-view in January, it doesn't mean Sunday's Roadblock: End of the Line show didn't have some major implications for the first big pay-per-view of 2017. Although Sunday's show was a miss rather than a hit, Roadblock: End of the Line offered Raw an interesting path into the start of 2017.  And the night's biggest results left the card at the Royal Rumble looking different.                     Charlotte Flair def. Sasha Banks Charlotte Flair's victory against Sasha Banks sets up ...

WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After Dec. 19 Show

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On December - 20 - 2016
It would have been fitting for the Dec. 19 episode of WWE Raw to end with the sound of a ticking clock. Countdowns of various kinds had to be on fans' minds after Monday's show. There is, of course, the wait for Emmalina's arrival. The first edition of Raw after Sunday's Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view didn't welcome back the wrestler formerly known as Emma. That's been something the audience has gotten used to of late. It is hard to tell when she will step into the Raw spotlight again. After Monday's Raw, fans have to wonder how long Sheamus and Cesaro have ...

Braun Strowman Continues to Earn Main Event Push on WWE Raw

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On December - 20 - 2016
As Braun Strowman continues to grow into his skin as WWE Raw's resident monster, it's increasingly clear that he needs to do his mauling on center stage. The beastly giant has flourished in his rivalry with Sami Zayn, has vastly improved since the brand split and has mastered his role as insatiable predator. The New Era may be ruled by smaller, sleeker dynamos, but Strowman has loudly made his case for WWE to spotlight a colossus among them. We are getting closer and closer to the time where Strowman should move from the midcard to the marquee. Strowman began as a brooding beast in the background, ...

WWE Roadblock 2016: Top Takeaways from Latest PPV Event

Posted by Kevin Berge On December - 20 - 2016
WWE Roadblock: End of the Line was billed as a night of final clashes as rivals got one last chance at glory in matches that have been building for months. However, it was not wholly a night of endings, as much of the show seemed to be building past this pay-per-view event. While Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks fought their final battle, Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho rejuvenated their friendship, much to the ire of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, the top three cruiserweights clashed, only for a new cruiserweight to emerge and make clear that his direction is one ...
