Posted by Mike Chiari On January - 3 - 2017
Dean Ambrose defeated The Miz Tuesday night on SmackDown Live to become the intercontinental champion for the second time in his career.  WWE shared an image of the finish:  Ambrose was able to overcome numerous distractions from The Miz's wife, Maryse, including this one shared by WWE Universe:  Tuesday's title bout between Miz and Ambrose marked the second over the past few weeks, as The Lunatic Fringe was previously granted a championship opportunity after being patronized by the A-Lister in the form of a Miz Participation Award. While Ambrose appeared to be in control of that bout, James Ellsworth's botched interference resulted in The Miz ...

Aliyah debuted in WWE in a losing effort Tuesday night on SmackDown Live.  Using a distraction by James Ellsworth, Carmella capitalized, locking Aliyah in the Code of Silence to pick up the victory: Aliyah caught the attention of NXT alumnus Apollo Crews: At this stage of her career, it's doubtful her appearance on SmackDown on Tuesday night indicates Aliyah is making the transition to full-time wrestler for one of WWE's main programs. Billie Kay lost to Dana Brooke on the June 30 edition of SmackDown: That is Billie Kay's only match in WWE to date. She moved back down to NXT, where she has continued her in-ring ...

WWE Raw: Burning Questions to Address After Jan. 2 Show

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 3 - 2017
The first WWE Raw of 2017 raised questions about the anatomy of several of the red brand's rivalries. Braun Strowman left Sami Zayn unable to stand on Monday's Raw. He beat up the babyface until he wore a black eye and punch-drunk daze. Is that the end of the tale, with the hero unable to overcome the dragon? If so, what lies ahead for both men? And what of Bayley and Charlotte Flair? A title tilt now awaits them at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 29. How will WWE build to that moment, and how will it pace these enemies' story? Monday's show also ...

Goldberg Must Feud with New Era Superstar to Maximize Latest WWE Run

Posted by Ryan Dilbert On January - 3 - 2017
When Goldberg glared at Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Braun Strowman at the close of Monday's WWE Raw, it felt as if he was standing at a crossroads, looking at three potential paths to take. Those brief moments should be more than teases. Before Goldberg's current WWE tenure ends, he must battle one of these men as a means to bolster the company's march into the New Era. Goldberg returned to Raw on Monday night as the inaugural guest of The Kevin Owens Show. As one might expect in a world so filled with testosterone and belligerence, things quickly turned hostile.  Goldberg got in Owens' ...

The blue brand will start to build toward the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 29. Who will ...

WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from January 2

Posted by Erik Beaston On January - 3 - 2017
WWE Raw got the new year off to a hot start Monday night, producing a show that eliminated insignificant filler and satisfactorily began to hype the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Jan. 29. Goldberg returned to the flagship show to promote his appearance in the upcoming 30-man match, but the WCW icon was neither the biggest winner nor the biggest loser from the first show of 2017. Instead, two full-time competitors earned those distinctions. One is a tag team competitor whose run in WWE has been devoid of the kind of decisive victory he enjoyed Monday night. The other competitor, who wasn't as lucky, ...
WWE's newest monster claimed his latest victim on Monday night's WWE Raw. Braun Strowman battled Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match—a bout that saw Zayn go down in the end. Fans cheered as Zayn fought hard to stay alive, but he just couldn't get the job done. But the match was less about Zayn and more about Strowman. Strowman once again proved why he deserves the WWE Universe's attention. He's improving with each match he works, and he's growing much more confident in the ring as time goes on. He's strong and surprisingly agile for a man his size, but that's ...
