The Miz Has Earned Shot at Main Event Feud on WWE SmackDown Live

Posted by Kevin Wong On January - 15 - 2017
For the last six months, The Miz has been doing the best work of his career. WWE should acknowledge that. 2016 was the year of AJ Styles, but 2017 should be the year of The Miz. No more Intercontinental Championship feuds. It's time to go after the WWE Championship. This would not be The Miz's first rodeo. He won the Money in the Bank briefcase and became WWE champion in 2010. He main-evented WrestleMania in 2011, where he successfully defended his championship against John Cena. But he then lost the title to Cena at Extreme Rules. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and The Shield ...

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka Dies at Age 73

Posted by Joseph Zucker On January - 15 - 2017
WWE legend Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka died Sunday. Snuka's daughter, Sarona, who wrestles in WWE as Tamina, shared a photo on Instagram announcing his death: TMZ Sports reported in December a doctor had diagnosed Snuka with terminal stomach cancer. The Rock and former WWE announcer Jim Ross reacted to Snuka's death on social media: Snuka died shortly after a judge in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, ruled him unfit to stand trial, citing health reasons, in connection with the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. According to CNN.com's Kevin Conlon, Snuka had been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter after the Lehigh County district attorney's office re-examined his case. In July, Snuka joined a ...

Posted by Anthony Mango On January - 15 - 2017
WWE Royal Rumble 2017 is shaping up to be potentially one of the biggest events in the modern era, and much of it still hasn't even been finalized. Two weeks out from the January classic, less than half of the field of competitors for the titular Battle Royal have been determined, and many other matches on the card remain in limbo. There is still plenty of time for WWE to provide a multitude of twists and turns not just during the build to the event, but also during the show itself. In an environment where everybody should expect the unexpected, what can the ...

The Case for AJ Styles to Retain WWE Championship Through WrestleMania 33

Posted by Alfred Konuwa On January - 14 - 2017
It's January 2017, and AJ Styles season is still in full effect. And while every independent wrestling publication with a niche, male following showers him with well-deserved "wrestler of the year" awards, WrestleMania season may prove to be the biggest test to his current position atop the SmackDown Live roster. The returns of The Undertaker, John Cena, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, (likely) Triple H and others will not only make it difficult for Styles to stand out, but it could also push him out of a potential WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 33. With a WWE Championship match against Cena at ...

The Royal Rumble match serves many different purposes in WWE. Surprise appearances and returns? Check. Nostalgic comfort food? Check. But one of the most important devices of the Royal Rumble match is to further existing feuds.
